Creativity Cycling: Help your team solve complex problems with creative tools Kindle Edition
This book provides an overview of the conditions for creativity, both individual and team, and presents a tried and tested creative process for solving complex problems and envisioning the future.
It is written for leaders who want to enable their team to work creatively in responding to challenges.
Many people have analytical tools they've acquired through formal studies or work experience that they apply when faced with a challenging situation. Indeed, organisations have extensive experience in applying rational and analytical skills such as data mining, correlation analysis, scenario analysis and forecasting, to name a few. These are all valuable and have their place.
Organisations sometimes lack knowledge or experience of using other tools and processes such as creative tools.
In this book, the authors describe their favourite creative exercises and how we've used them for solving complex problems and envisioning the future.

About the authors
I loved the adventures of The Secret Seven as a child: a small troupe solving mysteries together, often on their bicycles. Their exploits inspired my career in foreign lands and interest in understanding what makes a great team.
Following a corporate career in human resource management and organisational change working within travel, technology, government, financial services, mining, education and health sectors, I am now an entrepreneur where I write and speak to inspire others.
Always curious, I’ve collected a few qualifications including an MBA and MBus (Research). In 2016, I completed my doctoral thesis at the Queensland University of Technology, investigating how work environments influence creative behaviours and employee engagement.
I love listening to people with diverse life stories and sharing what I know at conferences and through the occasional blog on LinkedIn.
My friends say that I am imaginative and tenacious, although my husband would hasten to add 'untidy'.

There are lots of gems to be found in “Engagement Whisperer”. If all managers followed the advice given in each of the easy to read chapters, the corporate world would be a lot happier and more satisfying place for everyone.
Engagement Whisperer is a ‘must’ read for anyone who manages people. It’s conversational easy-to-read style delivers some fundamental messages for valuing staff and bringing our their best. The practical lists of actions to do and to avoid at the end of each chapter are great ‘take home’ (or rather ‘take to work’) messages.
Cathy Turner, Business Analyst, Australian Government Agency

This is an enjoyable and thoughtful book on a difficult topic that is forever present in an organisation. The layout and structure makes it very accessible and it will help the reader reflect on their own experiences while identifying areas where they can take steps to enhance the engagement of their team.
Michael Connell, Executive General Manager Southern Region, Silver Chef

This thoughtful and practical book dispels the myths that ‘engagement’ happens because of glitzy, once a year initiatives. It’s a relief for those who can’t offer curated workspaces complete with pin pong tables, free lattes and bean bags adorning the ubiquitous ‘chill out zones’ where the magic happens!
Tracy’s work shows that real and sustained engagement comes from a more thoughtful and human centred place: a place where respect, trust, fairness and personal growth sit at the core. Engagement is now demystified and accessible to all. It should come with a product warning: Putting these changes into practice may bring you under the spotlight. Expect to be asked for your recipe for team success - or leave your peers secretly wondering if there is something in the water!
Wendy Lundgaard, Principal Consultant/CEO of Win-Win Workplace Strategies
I have a passion for creativity, which is showing up now in my interests in photography and writing.
When I am not writing or taking photographs, I work as an executive coach, creativity facilitator and trainer. I enjoy supporting people to be their best and as leaders, to engage their team and use creative approaches to developing their business. I firmly believe that if we are engaged in our work, then we become our best.
My path has been fairly traditional. Having started in Human Resource Management in the corporate world, I moved into teaching Psychology and then Organisational behaviour before discovering my passion for creativity. Through studying Creativity in Organisations on the Open University MBA, I moved into teaching and facilitating creativity in organisations using tools and processes that I have discovered and developed further.

5.0 out of 5 stars A practical reference to facilitate engaging team workshops to generate new ideas and perspectives
To be innovative and competitive today brings demands on teams to adopt a continuous improvement culture. To nurture this requires rigorous methodologies of creativity, innovation to generate new solutions to problems whether it be for internal improvements or market-facing products.
Creativity cycling is a handy, quick to consume reference bringing together a range of proven techniques and practices for teams to consider at different stages of ideation. This book provides a simple and well-structured introduction to the benefits of creativity and improving the working environment across your teams with some understanding of constraints to consider.
As I run a lot of strategy workshops at different levels, I found this book valuable as it provides a range of low fidelity tried and testing methodologies to have at hand when you need to ideate or open up problems. I now have it quick at hand in the office for a handy go-to reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative ways to engage your team
I was so impressed with this book by two well-respected practitioners and researchers.
The layout and use of colour keep readers engaged and help leaders and facilitators to dip back in to find the activity that will work for their group.
Theory and research are balanced by practical suggestions that encourage leaders to find new ways to encourage their teams.
Free of jargon, business-speak and academia-speak, the content never becomes bogged down; readers who want to know more will find references lists.
Highly recommended at both the theoretical and practical levels.
