Crossing the Line: a Small-Town Romance (Whitecap Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,265 ratings

Some lines are meant to be crossed.

Trent Montgomery knew all about loyalty and responsibility. Tracking down his friend’s long-lost sister and making sure she was safe was just another job, a favor from someone he cared about. He wasn’t supposed to get attached. But when he started to fall for the woman who had been hiding from the world, things got a lot more complicated than he ever expected.

Cheyanne Knightly knew all about living in fear. The life she’d made for her and her daughter was as stable as a house of cards. One stiff breeze could send her whole world crumbling. But when a new guy blew into her small town, stirring up Whitecap’s rumor mill, she found herself drawn to him in a way she never expected.

Lies were told. Secrets were uncovered. Lines were crossed. When the truth finally came out, Trent had to find a way to protect the woman who stole his heart while he tried to earn her trust back.

Growing up, she shared her mom and grandmother’s love of reading. But where they leaned toward murder mysteries, Jessica was obsessed with all things romance.

A super sexy story that was full of angst, hopefulness...

A super sexy story that was full of angst, hopefulness...
When Cheyanne Knightly fled from her abusive marriage, she made a new life for herself in the only place that has ever felt like a real home. Whitecap, Oregon welcomed the single mom with open arms… but little do her friends and neighbors know, Cheyanne, aka Sawyer Darcy, has some big secrets that she’s been keeping from them all… Trent Montgomery has been searching for Cheyanne to reunite her with her long lost twin sister. But when he finds her, Trent wants to do everything in his power to keep Cheyanne safe… and all to himself… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Crossing the Line was a super sexy story that was full of angst, hopefulness, and had a sprinkle of light suspense thrown in. Cheyanne and Trent experience an immediate attraction that burns hot and heavy, but when the truth of their shared connection comes out, a future between them seems impossible to reconcile… I enjoyed so much about this book, starting with the amazing characters and the relationships shared between them. Cheyanne and her daughter have found a beautiful life in Whitecap, where their friends are more like family and they feel protected and love. But even with the sense of security that Cheyanne has found, she is still missing a vital part of her existence… her twin sister, who she hasn’t seen in almost twenty years… Trent fell for Cheyanne from the moment they first met, and proceeded to make some pretty big mistakes just as quickly. But where his execution failed, Trent only ever wanted to protect Cheyanne from any and all harm… including from himself… The chemistry between Cheyanne and Trent was scorching hot, and their connection was sweet and satisfying, but the reunion between Cheyanne and her twin, and of course all scenes with her adorable daughter, absolutely stole the show! I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

    ***5 ‘Team Renee’ Stars***

    I thoroughly enjoyed this baby!

It was all kinds of small town, single parent goodness with a dash of suspense and filled with a whole bunch of characters I need to spend a lot more time with ~ along with a few I already love.

I adored Trent and Cheyenne. Trent is simply a good man, who follows his gut and will throw down for those he calls his. Cheyenne is one strong woman. She lived through a h@ll$%h situation and did what needed to be done to not only protect herself, but her child. But though she has to keep things on the down low, she is still friendly to those she meets and has a warmth that draws people to her.

While Trent and Cheyenne’s journey had a heavy dose of secrets, the chemistry between them was undeniable. Even when things were awkward, it only brought them closer and add in the vivacious Renee to the mix and they both were gonners for each other. The big road block wasn’t a surprise, but how it was revealed and the fall out because of it was actually kinda entertaining...frustrating, yes, but still, kinda entertaining and well done. But in the end, I loved how everything worked out for them.

I’m a fan girl of the author’s and basically made grabby hands/one clicked without knowing anything about the book, and she did not disappoint. She gave me all the good that I’ve come to expect from her writing and more. The more are the residents of Whitecap. Luna, Sam, Dezzy, Mon, Georgia...all of them were awesome! Especially Sam and I cannot wait to visit again and hang out with everyone again!

This book his going to melt your heart. Omg the utter sweetness in this book is perfect. From page one you start to fall in live with the town and it's residents. Sawyer and Trent off the charts with intense chemistry and sexiness. Wow my kindle may have smoke a little at those love scenes! Renee and Luna to steal the book. One with cuteness overload and the other with her sass!

Words cannot express the love that I have for this story. Cheyanne has been through so much in her life and as we found out in Charlotte and Dalton’s book, she disappeared and was presumed dead. Trent was sent to search for her, and little did he realize that when he found her, she would become his destiny.  The chemistry between these two is off the charts. I love that these guys, even though not related by blood, will do anything for each other and be there to support each other when necessary. The new cast of characters in this new series are ones that I cannot wait to hear their story. I was so glad to see Cheyanne and Charlotte reunited, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this family. This is a definite must read!!

Easy, smooth read with the exception of a few too many spelling errors (it happens) but it wasn't enough to pull you out of the story, as another review stated.
This was my first taste of this author & I'll be definitely coming back for more! 😊

I saw this as an ad on FB and had to get it. Very glad I did, and I'll definitely be reading more. I would have rated higher, but there were several glaring mistakes, more than just typos or grammar.
But as my headline says, I absolutely loved the characters and the story, so while I cringed, I wasn't gonna stop. Nope, not an option. Because I was invested, dammit!
And now I gotta go thru the backlist!

This was a great introduction to Whitecap. It gave enough information about the town and secondary characters to set the scene for the captivating small Oregon town. I haven’t read the Hope Valley series yet, and even though this was a spin off I could follow along with the plot without feeling like I was missing out on much.

Cheyanne/Sawyer had made a life for herself and her daughter Renee in Whitecap after escaping her abusive husband. She was happy with the life she’d built and spent every day thankful she could protect her daughter. But when Trent comes to town he adds a layer to her life she never knew she was missing.

Trent comes to Whitecap looking for his best friend’s fiancée’s long lost twin. But when he finds Cheyanne, he doesn’t know how to tell his friends he’s found her without blowing up her life. He decides to stay close and in the process falls in love with Cheyanne and her daughter, which adds another layer of deceit to his mission.

I loved the evolution of Cheyanne and Trent’s relationship. And even though they were both hiding things from each other, their love crossed those lines. I loved the way they found a way past the deceit and were able to understand why they both kept the secrets they did.

Even though I loved the ending, I felt like the suspense aspect was a little rushed. It seemed like everything happened at once and then it was over. Nonetheless, I loved Cheyanne and Trent’s HEA.

OMG!!! I absolutely loved the story between Trent and Cheyenne!! And Renee she was the best!! Those Alpha Omega men, when they fall, they fall hard. I love how shy Cheyenne was around Trent at first, then she just blossomed!! And her girl posse is the best. I can't wait to see how the series will progress and who we will meet next.

Fantastic story and fantastic characters. Trent and Sawyer/Cheyanne were just perfect and Renee was just so adorable. I loved everything about this story, lots of emotion and just enough drama.

Think the only question I felt was unanswered is what is Alpha opening a satellite office 🤷‍♀️

Can’t wait for more in this series, Luna was a hoot, and I hope she gets a much deserved HEA!
