Although this is a YA / teen fantasy book, and sadly I am no longer anywhere near that group, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The world building is excellent, with some unique aspects to it I haven't read anywhere else. The characters are highly relatable and the writing is very good, as is the story line and the pace. There were a few surprises too, which I like in the books I read, and while the concept of Angels and Demons, Heaven and Hell has been written about extensively, this is quite a refreshing take on the genre. All in all a well written and interesting story. I look forward to the next one.

Excellent first novel, good description of characters and use of literary knowledge that doesn't intimidate the reader. A conglomeration of paranormal characters with an explanation of heaven and hell that whilst simplistic in its telling doesn't detract from the story. I would like to read more tales of this world.

4.0 out of 5 stars a wonderful effort from the author

Well written, engaging, interesting plot line (particularly the angel/demon dynamic) and attention grabbing from the first page, a wonderful effort from the author. Elements of political intrigue and shady figureheads blended seamlessly with science fiction, philosophy, classic literature, romance and heartache and of course, fantasy. Those who enjoy Terry Pratchett's disc-world series, the twilight series and Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series should mark this in their 'to-read'

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Kept my attention and left me wanting to read a few more pagest when l had to put it down. Enjoyed the plot and strong female character lead, the quotes, literary references and wanted to search for the translations I was unfamiliar with to understand the meanings. I liked that whilst the ending is complete the story and characters are left open for development and further adventures. A great read for target audience. I'm somewhat older and looking forward to the next one!
