Crowne Rules: Close Proximity Standalone (The Crowne Brothers) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 2,124 ratings

Years ago we spent seven minutes in a closet. Now Dante Crowne and I are hidden away in his remote cottage. And he wants much more than seven minutes. He wants everything.

With the paparazzi hot on her heels, Mandy Bettencourt is desperate for a place to hide, and her best friend has just the place.
It’s perfect. No Internet. No phone. A deep bathtub she’s soaking in when HE shows up.
Her best friend’s brother, Dante Crowne. Rich as a cardinal sin and handsome enough to piss off the devil. A man with a reputation for unforgettable bedroom games. From those seven minutes in a closet, Mandy can tell you, the rumors are all true.
Dante knows he’s got a reputation for a lot of things, but there’s a beautiful socialite in his bathtub, and the memory of those seven minutes isn’t inspiring him to kick her out. So he offers her a deal.
If she wants to stay, she has to work.
If she makes a mistake, she’s corrected with pink hand marks on her backside. That’s the deal. Beg for it or leave it.
He’s surprised when she gets on her knees, and he’s even more surprised when she likes the punishment. The most shocking thing, though, is how much he’s starting to like her.
But they can’t stay in paradise forever. Los Angeles awaits. But an old nemesis sets his sights on tearing them apart, and Dante may be the one left begging.

Excellent Read!!
5 out of 5 stars
Excellent Read!!
Let me start by saying that Dante Crown is my favorite brother of the Crown's and this book was so much more that I was expecting, I wish I could give this book more that 5 stars because this book was just perfection in every page. Dante is reserved, he lives a quite life, he is controlling and his sexual desires are of a particular kind. When he was young he felt in love with an older marry woman who died and this shape the life he is living now. Since then he hasn't able to really move on with his life. Mandy needs to get away from a scandalous situation. She is just tired of the decisions she has made on her love life. When she gets to the Crown's Cambria house to have a breather on her life she comes face to face with Dante, the one guy that many years ago made her feel something she didn't know she desire, "submission". Dante and Mandy under one roof ARE EXPLOSIVE!! Their chemistry is just super steamy and hot and while they have a deal, things and agreements changed. Would this couple have what it takes to move on together or will the scars of the past teared up this relationship before it even starts? Definitely enjoyed reading this book so much and CD Reiss is and always will be one of my favorite authors.

There is no question that C. D. Reiss writes with the touch of a master. I have never been disappointed in any book I have read by her. This book is another notch in her repertoire of brilliant works. And as such, my comments are not so much a review, but more a small exposition of my thoughts and delights in her juxtapositions, word play and capture of multidimensional characters.

The plot for this story is really quite simple and bare bones. All the tension that keeps the reader on tether hooks and turning the pages occurs between the two main characters, Dante and Mandy.

The brilliance of a wildly creative sexual mastermind with meticulous detail to setting the stage while engaging all the senses of the reader is the alchemy in crafting a story our author wields in her pen. The main characters are broken, sexy, stubborn, attracted to each other but do not want to be and enjoy sexual games.

It seems as if I'm describing any number of books written by any number of authors. But no. In this book the emotional mess is believable and relatable. The shifts in thinking and action surprising and believable. The epiphanies are thought through and believable. The therapeutic pleasure/pain power exchange in the sexy BDSM play is believable. I suppose what I am getting at is these complicated dramatic characters are written so well they are believable and they satisfyingly hold our interest and carry the story. They are the story.

And there is more, because Ms. Reiss is an artist there is woven on the narrative lovely metaphor and symbolism. It was particularly poignant to me when Mandy was inspecting the crawlspace in the attic while Dante walked the roof. When you read this, I'm certain you will notice how this mundane event leads to a significant epiphany for Mandy.

Lastly, I sometimes think reading Ms. Reiss' sex scenes are dangerous. They are so intensely hot, cunningly creative, relentlessly arousing...makes a woman think where are these men who can make you feel like this? At least we know, we will always find one in the pages of a C.D. Reiss book!

C.D. Reiss hit it out of the park with both Dante and Mandy!

You know what I love most about this author? I mean there’s a lot, but the mostest is that when she decides to write something, she is all. There are half-measures, every single plot point means something and either moves the story forward or the characters. When she decides to right passion, it is intense, forceful (not nonconsensual forceful) and deeply sexual. She is glorious in every way.

Confession: Jonathan Drazen and I are not acquainted *runs* I know there are super fans out there who might read this and go “whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat” but try not to throw things at me ;) I’m actually only mentioning it because I’ve heard so many people compare/contrast Jonathan with Dante that I made sure all Jonathan’s books are now top on my kindle because Dante was delicious and I need more delicious in my life :)

I read this book in one sitting which is not that big of a feat most cases, but this book was different because it wasn’t just the story that I couldn’t get enough of and wanted to see the detailed outcome of, it was also a vibe/spell the storyline had and I was just stuck to it LOL I tried one time to put my kindle away and it lasted like 3 minutes. I didn’t want to disconnect from the story’s mood, ever. Sometimes, Dante was a little too much for my tastes, but never so much that I wasn’t always rooting for him. He’s the man you hate to love but just can’t help yourself. He developed so much in this story that I found myself in awestruck at times. Mandy was a surprising force with Dante and that made the story even more engaging for me. She was courageous and gave right back. These two together were magical even when they didn’t know it.

I really enjoy reading Christine’s work, even when it pushes my own boundaries. She’s talented and as I mentioned before, always delivers full force!

Dante Crowne knew not what hit him ok down, and that is the honest truth! I was sneaking reading if I had to. It was that good! I love a man like Dante! He was perfect! He wasn't afraid to go after what he wanted and it was a relief not to have the girl begging and crying after the guy! Mandy was a strong, caring woman who was too good for the guys she fell for! I was so happy to see her withwhen he found himself secluded in his hideaway cabin with Mandy Bettencourt. He comes here for solitude and to work and think. She came here to escape paparazzi after a disastrous and embarrassing breakup. He still remembered what she did to him years ago when he was a teenager and they spent 7 minutes locked in a closet together. Feelings he has never felt since return and baffle this strong, dominant man. Mandy is nothing like he expected, what he has heard through the years.

She was supposed to be sent away immediately, yet time extends to the next day. Deals are made as sexual tensions rise, and both Mandy and Dante take and give up control in order to follow their passion.

I could not put this book down and I am being totally honest! I was sneaky reading it any chance I could just to get more! I absolutely loved Dante! He was not afraid or too arrogant to go after what he wanted. Mandy was such a strong yet vulnerable woman who had bad luck with the wrong guys. I am so glad she found Dante again! The steamy scenes with these two literally fried my kindle! He was definitely better than Christian Grey! Wonderful book with tons of chemistry, hot scenes, and romance galore!! And the Epilogue *sigh* Pure Perfection!

I've loved all the books in this series, but to be honest was a bit unsure if I'd like this one, as I'd not particularly liked Mandy's character in the previous books. Well this book changed all that, Mandy is so much more than she first appears and I just grew to love all her complexity and faults ... Dante and Mandy's love story is as good, if not better than the previous books.

Fabulous chemistry between Dante and Mandy. Fevoured this book in one sitting on a lazy Sunday morning 😎
The story ends around 90% ish to give you a sneak peak at another trilogy (?). I prefer to mull over the story I've bern immersed in and skimmed it to get to 100%.
I've really enjoyed the Crowne series.

DANTE CROWNE is just everything you look for in an alpha male!!

If you’re in the mood for a sexy alpha male that will make you crave for more , Dante Crowne is the man for you.

I could not get enough of the relationship between Dante and Mandy, the ups and downs and many twists and turns of their emotions, it truly captivated me.

I loved couture Mandy and Discount Mandy and Amea.

Mandy is trying to escape the paparazzi after a messy break up. When she arrived at the cabin in Cambria with her bag full of her yellow clothes, Amanda thought she would be alone ... until Dante Crowne appears with the intention to stay.

Dante and his love for language accuracy from punctuation to spelling made me swoon... I found this so sexy!! Yup, I’m a gramma geek.
Dante has demons to fight and Amanda wants to rebuild her life.
Logan’s worse nightmare is a relationship between his best friend and his brother...

No one could deny their attraction but can they make it last?
A fantastic read that shows how Love can change a person.

The story gets under your skin and you just can’t seem to shake the characters.

If you love a super hot alpha and a Dom/sub romance, this book is not to be missed. It can easily be read as a standalone. Crowne Rules consumed me from the moment I began reading. I cannot wait for the next book from this amazing author.
