    I really enjoyed this simple, straightforward, wolf shifter romance. It was equal parts sweet and steamy. Hunter was so sweet to Grace and helped her get over her fear and saved her life from her abusive ex. The story was well-written and stayed true to the werewolf and shifter genre, without any crazy plot twists that make you say to yourself what the hell did I just read. It was a quick read and I am recommending it for those of you who like your shifter stories to stay true to the genre.

    Trigger warnings: domestic violence and abuse of power (domestic partner is a cop)

    I always enjoy paranormal or supernatural romances that involve at least one wolf shifter, so I was excited to pick up this story. I didn’t realize at the time, but this was a very quick read, clocking in at around 140 pages. The length of this novel understandably affected the pacing of the story, which at times I appreciated. We got right to the point, and quickly, but we did miss out on moments that make the romance so much more intense. We didn’t get to see the spark or connection grow between these characters, or the banter back and forth that makes the eventual giving in to temptation that much sweeter.

    For how quick this story was I am impressed by how much it covered. Our MC Grace is running from her abusive, cop ex-boyfriend, and lands herself right in the middle of a wolf pack. The alpha instantly senses she’s his mate, and silently has his pack trailer her around the clock. They can all sense and smell the fear radiating off her, and are waiting for the day she comes clean or the danger makes itself known.

    When it comes to contemporary romances, if a main character was this possessive of his partner it would read as an instant turn off. But when it’s a werewolf who growls when someone so much as glances her way, I have to admit I’m down bad. This was a bite sized romance with a defined beginning, middle, and sweet happily ever after. It was just what I needed after finishing a much longer book, and craving another world I could briefly slip into for just a moment.

    If there was one thing I could change about this book it would be the vulgarity and the phrasing when it came to the spicier scenes. That’s absolutely a personal choice, and this aspect of the book might be just what someone else is looking for. I was able to look past a lot of this language by attributing it to the wolf, or animalistic side of Hunter, while still allowing myself to be swept away by this quick moving story.

    Thank God for KU. I've been reading authors that I had never heard of before thanks to KU. Some have been great hits, others big flops. This one was a near-miss.

    The characters were good, the plot was well-developed if a bit predictable, and the side characters added extra depth.

    The pacing seemed off to me. There was no concept of how much time had actually passed between the time the h had landed in the H's territory and asked for a job at his bar.

    I thought it had only been a few weeks to a month, but then suddenly jumped to seven months by the time the abusive ex finally tracked her down.

    Another inconsistency was during one of the sexy scenes. He started living up on her, but I had to go back and re-read to find out if he'd actually taken her clothes off. Spoiler: he didn't. She went from wearing a shirt in one moment, then completely naked the next with no detail about getting undressed.

    All in all, a decent read for a rainy afternoon, but likely not one I'll read again.

I would definitely recommend this book and Series to my book buddies that also love and enjoy reading paranormal, just like I do!

    This was a good book to read and the punctuation was very good, I have read some I couldn’t finish because of so many issues with the writing! So this was a lovely surprise.
    My only issue is one of the words used which I don’t think was necessary. I hate that particular word and can’t even make myself write it. It was only once however and did not detract from the story too much.
