    This is a romance about persistence. Conn likes Nia, and he wants to date her. When they interact, they have great chemistry, but she keeps him at an arm’s length because of her no-dating-neighbors rule. Conn gets his foot in the door with Nia when her car won’t start and she needs a ride to her family’s low-key New Year’s celebration. He is all too happy to offer the needed ride, even though it’s five hours one-way…in the snow.

    Keeping his foot in the door should be a piece of cake. Nia accepts some physical action during a night holed up in a motel to wait out more snow. Her parents love him. Her seductive sister can’t draw his gaze. Even Conn’s dog approves of Nia. But she keeps coming back to that darn rule.

    I won’t give up the whole story here, but suffice it to say Conn is persistent, thoughtful, and he knows what to do with hard wood (he’s a carpenter). Nia can push all she wants, but this guy isn’t giving up, not even when he reaches a point of seriously wondering if Nia might have a screw loose.

    Yes. I know heroes aren’t supposed to need a moment to collect themselves, but Conn is man enough to admit when Nia is driving him around the bend. And guess what, he still wants her.

    Conn knows that Everyone has bad relationship baggage. He’s no exception. I loved, loved, loved about Cup of Sugar that Conn gets this and he makes allowance for it. For all the romance I’ve read, I haven’t actually seen that laid out so clearly in a guy’s point of view.

    I also really loved the slow bloom of the love flower in this one. There’s sex early on, then more, and more, but the book is about what changes between these physical interactions. Doyle uses the love scenes to express what’s happening emotionally, and it’s super well done.

    Conn and Nia get a happy ever after, and if you enjoy neighbors to lovers, guy pursuing girl, and romances with enormous, drooling dogs, You Need To Read Cup of Sugar by Karla Doyle.

    Rules are meant to be broken and if he was my neighbor, I would break them all… I just adored this book. I only wish I had a neighbor like Conn… Alas, my reality is not as fortunate. But this book just made me happy.

    Nia has spent the last eight months avoiding her neighbor. She is never going to make that mistake again. She owns this house and nothing is going to make her run from it, not even the super hot neighbor. She will be content to be alone forever with her picture perfect view. She will not fall for another neighbor, no matter how hot, talented or amazing he is… wait… what?!?!

    That’s right; she fled her last apartment to get away from her ex because things didn’t work out. She doesn’t want to do that again. She bought this house and she likes it. But there is something about that neighbor. He is amazing. He is hot. He also has a lot of women coming in and out of his house. UGH!

    Conn has tried everything he can think of to get his neighbors attention. There is something about her and he wants to get to know her. He is determined. So when an opportunity like this presents itself, he is going to take it. And oh the journey it will be.

    Her car won’t start. She has some place to be. He will take her, in his truck. It doesn’t matter where; he will be the one to take her there. She really didn’t expect him to take her on a six hour drive to her parent’s house in a snow storm. But he did… of course I did mention a snow storm. So six hours or 24, they were going to make the journey together.

    The only problem is that she has this rule. The Rule. She is not going to break it even after the long drive. She is not going to give in to what her body wants (and it definitely wanted him). She is going to get to her destination and send him on his way back home. Of course, things don’t always happen and then there are things that happen that you can’t control.

    Yes, I knew what the ultimate outcome of this story would be, but what I wasn’t expecting was how amazing Conn was. I loved the characters, the family, the bond and a good old fashion road trip. With that said, I thought Nia was being a bit dramatic with her “rule” but the heart and the mind don’t always work the same way, and in this case it was for the betterment of the story. I loved that. I loved the chemistry and the attraction between the two characters. I loved the friendly banter and not so friendly banter with her family. I loved her sister. I loved so much about this book, yes; I even loved the furniture and the windows.

    This book just made me smile and made me happy. It is a great read: fun, flirty, sexy and sweet. I just want more of this kind of book.
