Can she ever see more in him than dollar signs?
Layla was destined to be a star, but when her agent dumps her she's forced to admit she doesn’t have what it takes to make it in Hollywood. Desperate for money, she goes back to her home town and applies for the one job that nobody else wants - personal assistant to Calvin Montgomery.

Calvin may be a billionaire business mogul now, but in Sweet Bay, he’s still considered nothing but a no-good Montgomery, especially when he decides to build a tourist resort in the small, secluded, seaside town that wants to stay off the map.

Despite her lack of qualifications, Calvin can’t say no to the girl he's had a crush on ever since he was a poor, bullied teen and she was the brightest star in Sweet Bay. Layla and Calvin grew up in the same town, but while she was the beauty queen, he was the kid on the wrong side of the tracks.
Calvin struggled to have a different future from his parents and succeeded, becoming a young billionaire, while Layla followed her dream of being an actress, but that didn't work out very well.
When the two return to Sweet Bay, Calvin as a successful billionaire and Layla as an unsuccessful actress, fate seems to give them a chance to get to know each other and succeed in their lives.
Layla is going to work for Calvin, but she has no idea what she's doing. He then goes on to show her about the job, and is surprised by the ideas she puts into his business. However, some people in the city still doesn't accept the new Calvin, but with Layla's help and support, his business can thrive.
The story is full of twists and turns and I loved it.
    I highly recommend the reading.

The tables have turned.... Definitely a story that was fun to figure out. Clean, humorous, maybe a little painful. Lots of growing pains on all sides. Sweet romance. Would be interested in reading more of the series.

Calvin was obsessed with obtaining the material things he did not have as a very poor young person. He learned that relationships are more know than money.

This was clean read, but just okay in my opinion. It felt odd to me that Layla who didn't have a clue how to do any of things for the job she was tasked with somehow saved the day with the resort. She was the bully in high school, but now she somehow is the "perfect" woman who shows compassion and the hero who she bullied in high school is a cynical jerk. I don't know. It just didn't fit to me.

I can't say I was overly impressed with her characters. I didn't particularly like them. But they worked well within the storyline together. Surprises I didn't see coming and even an ending that was different.

Not all what I'd expected. Loved how Layla and Calvin's relationship blossomed naturally throughout the story. Great character development.

Calvin grew up as the geeky, disliked son of the town ne'er do well. Working hard to get away from his family and make something of himself, he finally returns to his hometown years later as a successful internet entrepreneur. Despite his best efforts, the town is still against him and his plans to bring a luxury resort to the area to help improve the area's economic base.

Layla was the girl in town everyone, including Calvin, loved and thought would be a star. After leaving for Hollywood, Layla finds out that while she was a shining star at home, she 'barely glimmers' in Tinseltown. Struggling to make ends meet and failing at her acting career, she returns home out of money and looking for a job.

When she lands the job as Calvin's assistant, she realizes how badly she treated him back in high school and tries to make amends. Despite her lack of office skills, her natural charm and extroverted nature allow her to make a real impact on Calvin's project building the resort. As they spend time together, Calvin realizes that his crush on Layla never really went away. Layla realizes how different Calvin is from how she saw him years before. Rather than lazy and duplicitous like his family, he is driven and intelligent. She feels her attraction toward him grow the more time they spend together.

They are both hurt by their past rejections and unwilling to make the first move to build something more than a professional relationship. Can they both bend enough to find something lasting and real between them?

Layla is spunky and outgoing; not afraid to tell the uberwealthy Calvin exactly what she thinks of him. Calvin is trying so hard to escape his past and so wounded by how the town sees him that he is afraid to do anything that might drive Layla away from him. What he has wanted for years is so close, but he can't seem to take that leap into the unknown to let Layla know how he feels. Seeing how these characters impact each other - Calvin helping Layla understand that she is more than a pretty face and Layla helping Calvin to see that money should not be one's only goal - made for an enjoyable read.

Fans of sweet, clean romance will enjoy this story.

This is a voluntary review of a free ARC of the story.
