The first part of RUIN, a three-part series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Deborah Bladon.

Sitting next to a stranger on a flight from Boston to New York City alters the entire course of Kayla Monroe's life. In her quest to escape the pain of rejection she jumps into the bed of an irresistible man who offers her a night that she'll never forget. Their connection is fierce and undeniable. When their paths cross again, a twist of fate brings her to the realization that the man she's using to mend her broken heart is Dr. Ben Foster, a compassionate and respected physician. Warnings about his past threaten Kayla's future. She knows she should believe the rumors, but the moments she spends in his arms, and in his bed, wash away any doubt in her mind. She sees a future with Ben but those closest to her won't let her forget that the man she's falling for has left a path of ruin in his wake that may impact her in a way she never saw coming.

OMG! I've been reading a record number of romance books the past few months, doing research as I write my own. I've read a lot of really poorly written books, and a few decent books with good story lines, but sill poorly executed, etc.

I expected Ruin to be somewhere between, but OH WAS I SURPRISED. Deborah Bladon has become my new fav romance author and I plan to read everything she has written and will ever write again. I loved the book, I loved the characters, the story, even the sex scenes are well done and not over the top like some--I'm not a real fan of the graphic stuff but if that's what you're after, you won't be disappointed in this book.

The only cons are that it is short. I got to the end and thought, "What the heck?"
And the next one is not out yet! <frowny face> It is coming out soon, I hope!
In the meantime, I've purchased and have been reading The Vain series. OMG!!!

Love Deborah Bladon's books! Love, love, love! She writes great romance/erotic novellas and always keeps our interest up for the next installment. That said, don't ever give her any constructive feedback on her website....she won't allow it to be posted. As I said, I love her writing style, and the many plot twists and turns of her novellas. What I have an issue with is that she puts out publish dates, and then doesn't stick with the schedule. There is always some reasonable reason: death in the family, grief from the death, illness, publishing problems, then illness again, but her last several books have been late. And I mean weeks late. I suggested on her website that she not publish dates she couldn't keep, and develop a more conservative scheduling process. Well, she didn't post my comment. So, in the interest of full disclosure to her readers, I wanted to let them know not to put much stock in her release dates. It just won't happen. When the books ARE published, you'll be very happy....but don't be checking in on release day looking to download the next installment. As stated, it just won't happen.

So, I've never read a book by this author before, so when I was recommended this book I took a chance and bought it. I've never bought a book because of the recommendations amazon gives me, so I'm really happy I decided to give this book a try!! I've been looking for a book that kept my attention and made me want to run to get the next book and this book did the trick!

Kayla is trying to forget about her jerk of a boyfriend who left her without looking back. She thought their love would be forever, but she was wrong. When she boards a plane to move back to New York, she meets Ben. He's gorgeous and Kayla is instantly smitten with him. After a night together, Kayla can't forget about Ben and how she felt when she was with him.

Flash forward a few weeks and there he is again. Ben. They reunite and Kayla finds out a secret about Ben that can ruin her relationship with her best friend and Ben. Who is Ben, and what is he hiding from Kayla?

This book was so good! I couldn't put it down and when I finished it, I hurried over to my computer to buy the next two books. I love the relationship between Kayla and Ben and I can't wait to see what Ben is hiding. Let's just say that cliffhanger ending shocked me.

I'm a huge fan of the author now and can't wait to read the rest of her works! I recommend this book to everyone!

This series is one of those cart-before-the-horse stories. Sex before last name, lust before love, and baby before marriage.

The writing is good for the most part, but if you like characters who have some values and if you like romances with, well, romance, you'll be disappointed. The hero is hot and there's plenty of sex. The heroine is likeable, and her friends are, too. The author gets points for an unexpected, gut-punching twist in book two, but the way she resolves it in book three was anticlimactic.

Baldon has a writing style that often placed the heroine's thoughts between another character's dialogue and her reply. And not just a line or two. I'm talking whole paragraphs. It became an irritant in book two. Sometimes there was so much exposition before the heroine's answer, I forgot what the question was. Some of it should have been left for after, and some of it wasn't necessary.

The pacing is fast, the story (for the most part) is well-plotted, and the sex is hot. If you don't mind books with strangers that hook up for sex without even knowing each others' last name, this is your series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A story of friendship, trust, misunderstandings and lust.

Definitely a page-turner! And what a mess of a situation!

Kayla only wants to forget about her ex-boyfriend and moves back to New York. To forget that guy she finds herself in an unforgetable one-night-stand with a stranger.
An evening out with her best friend Alexa and her fiancé Noah ends in an argument about his brother, someone he doesn't want to talk about. Kayla only wants one thing - go home, and stumbles right into the arms of him - Dr. Ben Foster and his ER. But he's not any doctor, he's THE brother.

When Ben finds out Kayla knows Noah, he wants to know everything about him. But he also tells her that she can't tell them, that Noah will tell lies to keep her away from him.

As things get messy and Noah learns about the affair Kayla and Ben have, things get nasty. Soon Kayla finds herself in between these men, not knowing who to really trust. What is the truth and who is lying.

An addictive story with things I'm sure aren't how they seem to be on the first look. So I'm looking forward to the next parts.

Awesome! Can't wait for the next installments. This was a perfect introduction for Kayla and Ben's story. It had steamy sex, and lots of suspense. What more can you ask for when you have a hot alpha male doctor in the story? What a cliffhanger! I didn't see that coming!

A great book and I would recommend this series to anyone who likes an easy read with some hot scenes but also with a bit of a story to it. The books are very small (I finished Book 1 and 2 both within a day) and each leave you with a cliff hanger. I am desperately hanging out for Book 3!

This us part one where we are introduced into Ben Fosters life estranged brother of Noah except kayla has no idea who he is and what part in her life he will play. This is a cliffhanger but well worth the read it is written so wonderfully like the other series from Deborah you will not be dissapointed.
