Wish (The Wolfs of New York Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 2,113 ratings

WISH, a hot new standalone from New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Deborah Bladon.

My twenty-fifth birthday was just like the twenty-four before it.
I stood next to my identical twin sister as we blew out the candles on our shared birthday cake.
She wished for a healthy new baby to add to the family she already has with her husband.
I wished for my parents to stop asking me why I wasn’t more like my twin.
When I get back to Manhattan after my birthday trip, a surprise is waiting for me.
A tall, gorgeous, tattooed stranger is in my apartment.
Did I mention he’s naked?
He says it’s not a big deal. I say it is a BIG deal, if you know what I mean.
I assume he’s here to see my roommate, but apparently I’m wrong since she left town while I was away.
Sebastian Wolf is my new roommate.
I’m tempted to throw him out after the first day, but I agree to give him another chance.
When I start to wish for more, I discover that my new roommate isn’t the man I thought he was.

Author’s Note: Although some characters from my previous books appear in WISH, you don’t have to read those to enjoy this swoon-worthy standalone romance!

I really like the adventures of The Wolf men! Matilda is a twin, her twin sister lives in California, her name is Fannie and she is married with two children. Her other older sister live in New York, A couple of miles away. Maya her sister owns the apartment that Tully rents. While Tully is away on vacation, Maya rents Matilda's other bedroom to a fellow NYPD. Maya is to be married to a police officer that is friends with Sebastian, the guy who rented the bedroom. Tully comes home that night and finds a name man in her apartment, that guy ends up being the renter. Matilda works as a Vet assistant and it taken a toll on her, she been dating men who she has been seeking out from a dating app. Anyways that's how she met Sebastian. It's a straight shoot after that, the story takes a lead. This author has done outstanding job in writing this book, can't wait to dive into the next stand a lone in this series!! ENJOY

As you read this review, please be aware that this is a first for me. I mean, I am reviewing this book according to how I think others will respond, instead of my own personal response. That statement is not meant as a criticism, but merely as a statement of fact. Had I better understood the description, I might have realized instantly that this was not a book for me.

STOP! Understand this from word one: If you purchase “Wish” you are in for a vulgar, titillating read that you will not dare share with any child or any adult with whom you are not on the most intimate terms. There is a reason this author is on the Best Seller charts for USA Today and Wall Street Journal. She knows her craft and pulls out all stops to get your attention and to keep you turning the pages…

BLUSH FACTOR Upon coming across a crude word used to describe a man’s appendage (upon page 1), I realized this work is for mature audiences only. Indeed, for me, this was far too vulgar. Still, I soldiered ahead to learn why this writer is so popular and to see if I could broaden my skills as a reader and as a writer. In addition to the language, there are a number of intimate scenes that some will find invigorating and others will find disturbing. As for myself, frankly, I am beyond the age when such scenes have the desired effect, and my health issues negate use of Viagra.

This book consists of chapters that alternate pov from different people, which becomes confusing. The section opening with the heading Sebastian had me thinking I was still reading the first person account from Matilda, until I realized I was reading of an exchange between two men. This is important, because of the topic of their discussion.

I’m not going to include any excerpts for this book, because I don’t believe they’d be any more helpful than the above information, and because it might pose difficulties in getting accepted in Amazon’s Customer Review program.

    BOTTOM LINE

If I were rating this based only on whether I would purchase such a book in the future, I would rate it just one or two stars. I am rating it, however, based on how I feel the target audience will react to it. In other words, how would mature adults react to an adult themed romance book, preferably rated R or even X. For those of you looking for a stimulating read, this is a four star. The writing meets its purpose but the profanities are too numerous for me to rate it five stars.

    Four stars out of five.

Amazing, beautiful story. Matilda is a fun loving sister, who so happens to be a twin. She works, halls out her friends, someday hopes to find love, with someone honest, that she can also be friends with. She comes home from her trip early, and Sebastian is in her apt. A new roommate. Can she share an apt. With a hot guy, and vice/versa. Read on, great story, full of laughter, fun, learning to open your heart, find Love. Great story!❤️

Sebastian and Tilly were everything I’d hoped they would be.

“She comes fast and hard against my mouth, her cries bringing tears to the corners of my eyes.”

This was Sebastian. An NYPD Detective who never wanted a relationship because of his position on the force. The long hours and gruesome scenes consume your life and he never believed he’d have anything left to give a woman when his priority was bringing the bad guy to justice. But then Matilda happens and he wants to give her everything.

“I’ll never stop loving you Matilda. Never.”

I LOVE Deborah Bladon! She always gives us a hero who is zero BS and is unashamedly consumed by his heroine. This was another beautiful sexy read!

I like the way DB writes but her books could have so much more of a storyline if she made them longer. This story is a perfect example. DB writes good characters but in her recent standalone books she doesn't take them deep enough. I don't write a review completely retelling the story. I don't have the time but I can say DB does herself and her readers an injustice by writing too many sex scenes and not taking the time to write more depth into her characters and her storyline. In this book especially the last chapter or two DB writes a tidy few pages of wrapping up threads she used as part of the plot rather than expounding on these threads to add some tension leading to a good ending rather than a so so ending. She's just a little too shallow but has enough talent not to be. Her readers should demand more.

The first book I have read by this author and I enjoyed it. Nice easy read with characters that are likeable and realistic. Sebastian is a NY police detective who moves in with Matilda (Tilly) renting the extra room. Chemistry is almost instant between them but they keep their distance until they can't! Sebastian doesn't want to have a relationship with anyone because of his job, the long hours and the danger involved. Tilly is drawn to him but knows he doesn't want a relationship. I liked them together and I like seeing Sebastian gradually change and to see his caring side. I have one negative, without doing a spoiler, the added subplot and I will not say anything else about it. It did not stop me from liking the book I just didn't think it was necessary in my opinion. Other characters in this book are interesting and add to the story. This is a great book to take on a vacation as it is light easy read. Recommend this book.

Another amazing book from Deborah with all her books they feature characters from previous novels and as soon as you read their names your instantly drawn into the story . This story is about Tilly who is the younger sister of Maya who we read about in a previous book Tilly or to give her her full name Matilda is an assistant at a vetinery practice who returns from seeing her twin sister Frannie in San Francisco to find a naked man in her flat . The man turns out to be Sebastian a homicide detective and freind of Maya’s and her fiancé Julian ,who after selling his flat needed somewhere to live . As Matilda’s flat mate had left for a while her sister Maya who owned the flat thought it would be a good idea to put the two of them together as she thought they’d be a perfect match ......... and how right she was .

I was intrigued by the twin narrative and really enjoyed the Rom-com style with mini thriller aspect thrown in

The unfolding of a love story from two roommates thrown together by Tillys older sister Maya.
I enjoyed reading about the other characters their friends and work colleagues.
So I'm going to have to read about the others stories
I would have given a 5 star but felt the story was a little rushed and left a few loose ends at the end for me personally

Matilda and Sebastian's paths should have crossed several times but never did, until one of her sisters put them directly in front of each other, but I don't think she meant for their first meeting, was him to be in his birthday suit. Throw in some danger, an ex, a wedding or two plus the cutest 6 year old and this book's a winner.
