Outlaws: Assignment Darklanding Book 03 Kindle Edition
What kind of crew is crazy enough to mess with SagCon’s investments? Who has the training and the tech to pull off this kind of heist? Unprocessed ore is difficult to remove from the planet, but maybe there’s another reason for a crack unit to hit the train. Thad is on his own to figure out the crime and bring the perps to justice, even after a SagCon Special Investigator shows up. The SI has his own agenda, and it has nothing to do with the train robbery.
Where will the tendrils lead? Solving the crime may not bring peace and order back to Darklanding…

About the authors
Thanks for checking out my Amazon landing page. Please click FOLLOW to keep up with my prolific launch schedule. I can’t do this without a whole bunch of amazing readers.
Scott Moon is the co-author of the bestselling Homeworld Lost, The Last Reaper, Terran Strike Marines, and Darklanding series. His solo works include Blue Sun Armada, Invasion Day, the Chronicles of Kin Roland, and more. As a lifelong fan of reading and a chronic daydreamer, he has retired from twenty-six years of public service to make his own schedule, indulge his imagination, and pursue a variety of hobbies. He’s an 80s kid who survived to (relative) maturity and it shows.
You can join his Facebook Group, The Scott Moon Base, or learn more than you ever wanted to about his writing process at Scott’s Science Fiction Substack.
Craig is a million-selling author of science fiction (post-apocalyptic, military sci-fi, and space opera), thrillers, and non-fiction.
Craig retired from the Marine Corps after a long career in the military intelligence community, having worked with most of the U.S. Government's three-letter agencies. After a short stint with physical security, Craig went to law school, graduated summa cum laude, and went into business consulting. From intelligence, to the inner workings of company board rooms, to on-the-ground leadership, Craig has seen it firsthand.
His books are an extension of his experience, putting the trials and tribulations of a fast-paced world into your hands. Whether in Science Fiction, Thrillers, Fantasy, or even his Non-Fiction, you'll find consistent themes of justice and doing right by those who are counting on their leaders. Leadership is a service, not a crown to lord over others.
No matter where Craig went, he always had a book with him. Thanks to 21st Century technology, He now has thousands of books at his fingertips and with him wherever he goes. How many books would he have read on deployments had he not had to carry a physical book?
No one is encumbered like that now. Craig loves the works of Robert Heinlein, Anne McCaffrey, Andre Norton, JRR Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, and so many more. He has been compared to Andre Norton and that is humbling - she was an incredible author with a huge list of novels to her credit. With every new book, Craig aspires to live up to those that you, the readers, have compared him to.
Through a bizarre series of events, Craig ended up in Fairbanks, Alaska. He never expected to retire to a place where golf courses are only open for four months out of the year. But that's the way it is. It is off the beaten path. He and his wife get to watch the northern lights from their driveway. Their dog has lots of room to run, just until temperatures reach fifty below zero. They have from three and a half hours of daylight in the winter to twenty-four hours in the summer.
It’s all part of the give and take of life. If they didn’t have those extremes, then everyone would live in the sub-arctic.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2018This third offering in The Darklanding series adds even more interesting characters and expands the environment immensely.
The action has kicked up a notch or two even if I didn’t think that could happen. But it did.
Add new allies and new villains and you’ve got an even more explosive atmosphere.
It appears that some of the main characters from the first two books are in more danger than ever.
This story definitely stopped on a cliffhanger and I’m most anxious to continue with the next installment (please!).
I am looking forward to one thing in particular and it’s not really a spoiler. I hope eventually the pig-dog turns out to be the most intelligent of them all.
It’s my favorite character, so I hope there’s more of him/her in the following episodes.
Keep them coming Mr. Moon and Mr. Martelle!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2018Loved the story line and twists to a point. However, I was at times wondering who was the active character. The characters changed in the middle of a scene without knowing it changed until a few sentences later. Too many secrets between the characters that are not adding to the story line, makes for a distracting and muddied read at times.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2021An interesting story with diverse characters with a lot of subplots. The story moves along very nicely and I look forward to reading the next story in the series
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2018This series is about a the sheriff on a planet that is new to him and the problems that he has to face. I enjoyed the imagination of the author as he moves through the series, actually there are two different authors writing this series and you will see that two minds work well to keep story line making you want to keep looking for what comes next.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2018Now you have the sheriff chasing outlaws, in another classic Space-Western. Another short one, but still lots of fun. And this time, you have the sheriffs sidekick, his alien pet, a pig-dog at his side to save the day. You can really tell how Mr. Martelle loves his pets, as they shine through nearly ever piece of his writing.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2018I absolutely adore this series! An Old West Frontier town in space run by the Company. Whoever thinks up this kind of thing is brilliant. The writing is excellent and the characters have depth enough that they feel like old friends. We are introduced to a new character that is likable and a bad guy that needs a good 8itch-slap. A fast-paced exciting read.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2019The third book in the series should have been smoother and better paced than the first two as the authors find their stride. This isn't what happens, the story jumps, has gaps, adds new characters while leaving some main characters barely mentioned. Does the story move forward? Yes but at an awkward disjointed pace that never really gets its feet under it.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2018Quite possibly the strongest entry in the Darklanding series so far. The world expands outside the town and the mines, getting a little bigger and a little more dangerous.
A fresh take on the classic Western 'Train Job' plot, the reincarnation of Hoss Cartwright (I will not be convinced otherwise), and.. Chapter Eleven. Just Chapter Eleven.
Highly recommended.
