- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2017The main character of the story Jada Talbot along with her friends Beth,Shelbie and Uma take a vacation in the backwoods of Oregon. Beth spots a wolf while she and Jada are elk hunting. The four friends had spent an entire year planning this hunting trip. Bryce warns Jada that she and her friends are in great danger. He also warns that he will not be able to protect all of them. Bryce tells Jada that she needs to stay with him. Her three friends are taken captive. She finds her best friend Beth with a fatal wound. The rogues that Bryce and Vaughn had been tracking were the ones that took the friends captive. The relationship between Bryce and Jada grows as he has much to teach her about her powers. I found this story to be an interesting read. My thought will Jada be able to accept her future? One of my favorite lines from the story. “It’s easier to believe you’ve lost your mind than to accept the truth, or try to convince yourself that you’ve only imagined it.” Jada finds her destiny in the story of Dark Warrior. I have rated the story a solid 5 stars. I look forward to reading more works by Denna Holm.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2020After reading this book, I don't think I will ever go camping again. Lol. Very intriguing twist on vampires and werewolves from another planet. Four friends go out bow hunting and run into trouble. The kind that has teeth, fur and claws. Plus a couple of low down scoundrels. Very good story. I enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2017This is a book about werewolves and vampires.. although that trope has been used way too many times in the recent years, Denna Holm takes a different approach by making them aliens from another world who have come here to hunt and there are a section of their breed that are the hunted. It was an interesting but slow read as there is too much emphasis on the relationship between the protagonists Bryce and Jada. Which is okay I guess as long as it develops in an interesting way, but it doesn't. Immediately as Bryce is introduced, it is all about Jada, there is nothing we know about him as an individual, at least Jada's character is developed in a better way.
Their relationship starts out rocky at best, but they do get closer because they are mates and no other sensible reason. The vampire Vaughn is introduced but does nothing to the story except to be a convenient solution to their rogue and transport problems. But it does have its merits, the story goes interesting enough to keep the reader hooked and makes me actually wait to see what happens in the next one.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2018Two stars because the writing style itself is decent. No higher because the story is fairly terrible. I mean, come on, why must most authors be mildly misogynistic creeps? As expected the poor helpless girl needs saving by the dark dangerous man who can control her as he pleases with his man-ness. Ugh. I mean sure, fine make him dangerous, make him some super werewolf, but at least have the woman not be a meek little yes man and just go along with her own abduction. Unless you dream of being overpowered and told what to do by wolf-man read something else.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2017I would recommend reading "Soul of a Warrior" and "Ghost Warrior" first. This book may not make as much sense if you're not already familiar with the worlds. Having said that, I really enjoyed this story. Not as long as the other two, but definitely worth the read. I love this series/world and can't wait to read more!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2018On one hand it's a fairly standard PNR where two strangers meet, happen to be mates, and get into an adventure. On the other hand there was more to it. The main characters had personality, the adventure was compelling, and there's a lot of worldbuilding and room for future stories. Definitely pick it up if you like PNR.

4.0 out of 5 stars This story for me was a faced paced romance and as much as Jada fought it the beast inside her was set free and found love. A mixture of Lycaeonians
Keep quiet. Hunt the bull. And at the right moment shoot.
The beginning of this book takes you straight into a hunt. Two women go for a six-point bull then to be spooked by a wolf.
In chapter two it’s all turned around, to a point I was thinking what?!
This story for me was a faced paced romance and as much as Jada fought it the beast inside her was set free and found love. A mixture of Lycaeonians, vampires, and other worlds. I don’t want to give too much away but it’s a great ending to see this going further and be raunchier. I’d love to see this book adapted and another book created.
Nice!
This is my honest opinion and review of this book, I was lucky enough to get a free copy of this book from the author through twitter. (Book reads).
