Dancing in Darkness: In Darkness 3.5 Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 634 ratings

Ever since Antonio began working as a dancer at Frank’s club, he’s been trying to get Frank’s attention. To others, Frank might not be the ultimate catch, but to Antonio, he’s the man of his dreams. The problem is, Frank has already turned Antonio down out of fear for Antonio’s safety following an abduction and near-death experience. But Antonio is not ready to give up. He is determined to win him over on Valentine’s Day, no matter what he has to do. Even if it requires some unusual help from his friends, Felix and Lane. Nothing is too far for Antonio, not even a botched kidnapping.

Dancing in Darkness is a 20k-word novella featuring true love, abductions gone wrong, and a family that may be a bit too extreme.

This novella takes place after the events of In Darkness 3.

4 hilarious and tender stars. ***Mild spoilers!***

The events in this novella occurs after the third book in the series, Deception In Darkness.

Antonio has been trying to Frank to become interested in him sexually for almost a year with no luck. Frank seems totally detached from any romantic notions from Antonio.

Enter Felix and Lane. Taking advice from both (mainly Felix, unfortunately!), Antonio tries new methods of garnering Frank's affection. (I won't divulge these methods, as that would ruin the story for future readers.) All end up in disaster, heartbreak and disappointment for Antonio. Along with hilarity for the reader.

The author caps off this amazing series with this brief, but humorous and sensual, novella. All the main characters from the previous books appear, but it's basically Antonio and Frank's story.

Does Antonio finally manage to get Frank to notice his attempts to woo him? Or does Antonio's mother ruin it for them both? (Another amusing storyline!) You, future readers, must read this short story to discover those answers.

I didn't know this novella existed and just found it by mistake a few days after finishing Deceit in Darkness. I'm so happy to see Antonio finally woo Frank. This is a fun quick read. It's funny and cute and Felix and Lane make appearances trying to help Antonio with love advice of varying quality.

Antonio and Frank’s story was sweet and every bit as strange and quirky as anyone else’s story associated with Felix and Lane. I have truly enjoyed the characters in this series.

I love her books! They make me laugh out loud. We need to have some laughs in the complex world we live in now. I started reading her books, and I've finished everything she has written. She will always be one of my first choices if she comes out with a new book.

... but except for the Felix and Lane moments which were as hilarious as in previous books, this story of the club dancer striving for attention from his boss, didn't seem to have the cohesiveness I associate with Winters' writings. She seemed to be struggling because I never felt the warmth or involvement. And the abduction side plot to the romance felt forced. Maybe if it was a full-length novel with stuff not happening so fast I would have appreciated the story more?
Still, even a so-so story from Winters is better than about 75% of other authors who do gay writing on Kindle.

I enjoy all Alice Winter's books especially when she mixes old characters with new. Some far out scenes but enough fun dialog to keep me involved in the characters.

I had so much fun reading this book... I loved how Antonio dealt with his new friendship with Felix and Lane. They created a crazy friendship. I loved the shy Frank who is a big bear very deeply in love. And the crazy family added so much fun...
Antonio is a bit crazy and that's easy to understand his friendship with Felix. The two together come with crazy ideas to help Antonio catch Frank to tell him his true feelings. Frank has a terrifying family and he doesn't want to get involve with Antonio to protect him from them. Add in a crazy family and it becomes really fun.

The conversations between the parties involved are funny, sarcastic, hilarious - but never lack love.
Can’t wait for the next book in this series.
I’m very happy I found this new author and I hope they are writing more books for us to enjoy.

I loved this little story about Antonio and Frank and how they got together. This short is funny and witty, just the perfect complement for book 3 and you can consider it as a second epilogue after the events in that book. So sweet!!
