A Dangerous Man: A dark psychological thriller about art, love and obsession Kindle Edition
Michael Jones, a young gay artist and part-time hooker, will do anything to stage his first exhibition.
When he falls in love with rich financier Jack Hutchinson, he seems set to achieve his goal.
But as Michael becomes caught between the unforgiving territory of smoky-bar Hackney and the green-garden luxury of upper class London, the consequences of his uncompromising pursuit leave him having to fight for all he holds dear, and in the only way he knows how.
Perfect for lovers of dark psychological fiction.
Reviews:
“A Dangerous Man is the most gripping book I’ve read in years. This page-turner is commercial fiction at its best. I defy anyone to read this and forget it. Michael is someone you remember." (Vulpes Libris Reviews)
“One of the most incredible stories I have read in a long, long time. Sure to leave a MAJOR lasting impression on the reader long after reading the final chapter. A classic style thriller, at its core is a love story that follows one man’s single minded pursuit of his obsessions in life: his art and the man he comes to love. It is a flawlessly written, beautiful yet haunting story, at times gritty, dark and intense.” (Queer Magazine Online)
"A compelling work of gay fiction and a real page-turner. Things to praise include the flawless writing and the subtlety with which Michael's tragic past is revealed. The London setting is vivid and three-dimensional, and the author has a perfect ear for dialogue." (Obsidian Bookshelf Reviews)

- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2022I’ve never felt as shocked with an ending as I was with this.
I’m devastated over Jack, repulsed by Paul and vengeful over Michael. Yes, I know it’s just a book, but I’m pissed off all the same lol!
But hey, I really liked it. I may have skimmed a little in certain areas, but it was for the most part very intense. Give this book a try and remember, if you are out there in the dating world - so are people like this…
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2017I cannot even begin to believe this book. It was so intense and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Michael was so freaking nuts!!! I wish his back story was made more clear though. And the ending was just so depressing after all the turmoil throughout the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2017I don't think I'll ever recover. This was the most traumatizing book I've ever read. I feel terrible. I won't summarize the story or write about character development. I'll just say you should read this book but be prepared to feel worn down, exhausted from being in Michael's mind, feeling all his desperation, paranoia and poor choices, from the anguish I feel for what could have been for him and Jack. For poor Jack. This story felt so real to me. I know there are people out there who have been abused, who have had their trust for someone who should have protected them ripped away, who have had to resort to a horrible life of giving themselves away just to survive, who are desperate, who have little boxes in their head where they store all the things they don't want anyone to know about, who have turned attention from someone kind into what they think is love but it's just desperation. I could go on. There are people like that. You'll meet one in this story and he will make you cry, make you hold your breath in anticipation, make you worry, make you scared, make you angry. But most of all he will make you wish that you had reached out to someone who needed help. Emotional help. These people are hurt, and they can be dangerous, but even if they act like they don't want your help, they do, they need it.
Being in Michael's head has left me anxious and depressed. It's not a good feeling. I was actually scared to turn pages in my Kindle for fear of what would come next. When a book makes you feel that way you know you've read a story that will never leave you. I'm going to go cry now.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2013"Looking back on it now and for his sake only, we should never have met."
This was definitely a dark and disturbing story. It has garnered mixed responses from those who have read it. Most seem to rate it highly but others have found it too uncomfortable. It is definitely hard to say you 'like' it.
It is not an easy book to read and I found the ending painful and unexpected. It is a depressing story although very thought provoking. Should you read it? I'd say yes but be prepared for an emotional read without a happy ending.
I won't say more, there have been enough reviews written that go into depth. I would recommend checking out Kazza's review on Goodreads for some more insight into the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2015I was quickly drawn into this compelling story with its menacing undertones. I think that menace was the thing I loved most about it. Maybe I could have done without the forewarnings as we went along. The end felt inevitable. YET, it wasn't quite the end I expected. I really enjoyed it. Super characterization, a plot that worked, some fascinating secondary characters and a brilliantly drawn narrator. One I'd read again, even knowing how it ended.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2008A gorgeously written, tense and creepy book, combining a love story and an artist's passion for his work into a force that makes the narrator of the book a very dangerous man. Not for those who like their fiction fluffy, this is a real work of literature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much more than a love story.
This is an excellent book about a troubled young man who wanted to show
how good an artist he was .He never had much happiness in his life and he
thought that might change when he met a man called Jack .He became almost has obsessed with Jack as he was with his art work .Although he tried to do things
the right way he was always troubled and things never worked out the way that
he wanted them too.I quickly became engrossed in the book ,and wanted to help
Michael ,he wasnt really an unpleasant young man he just saw things in a different
way to most people and that in the end was the thing that made him dangerous.
The author has written an excellent book with a lot more to it than most other books. Not a book to forget in a hurry.

2.0 out of 5 stars Deludente
No, non mi è piaciuto affatto.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like watching a train wreck
This book is dark, twisted and creepy. The main character is very unlikable. He's toxic and tragedy follows him around like a bad smell. Michael is very disturbed and the fact that the story is told in his POV throws you into his world. I've got to admit, I couldn't put it down. I didn't like him but I wanted to wrap my arms around him at the same time. I will definitely be reading more from this author, her writing style is just beautiful.

2.0 out of 5 stars A dark story
Michael is an artist who suffered a traumatic childhood. His drawing partly helps him to deal with severe mental health problems. Michael's ugly history makes it understandable why he reacts as he does; he is not likeable. He is trapped in a sick lifestyle and rejects the help - given by his boyfriend - to escape. He has a chip on his shoulder about his perceived class and wealth.
This is a dark story, which is no bad thing. It is certainly not formulaic.
So why was I not keen on it? I wanted more depth in the characters and more detail in the descriptions. Much did not ring true. I struggled to believe in the people and the situations. I don't like to skim books but by the end that was what I was doing, just to get though it.
It is refreshing to have a UK-based story. It would be nice if the Kindle edition had British spelling too :)
