In her travels, Susan Fleet has worn many hats: trumpeter, college professor and music historian. While teaching at Berklee College of Music in Boston, she began killing people. Fictionally, of course! In 2001 she moved to New Orleans, the setting for her award-winning crime thrillers featuring NOPD Homicide Detective Frank Renzi.

Susan still plays her trumpet every day, but spends most of her time dreaming up new ideas to terrify and enthrall her readers. See more at http://www.susanfleet.com Her other passion is promoting talented female musicians. See them here http://susanfleet.com/morewomenmusicians.htm

This was a good little book. I really enjoyed that each chapter is a new story, so you can stop after one case or read 3 or 4 cases. It is well researched and fairly well written.

When I saw that Susan Fleet had included a chapter on Amy Bishop in her latest Dark Deeds book, I had to pick up a copy. As a college professor and Massachusetts resident, Amy's story has long held a special fascination for me - how could anyone shoot their brother point-blank in the chest and not be questioned about the crime for 11 days? How could anyone walk into a faculty meeting and kill two colleagues and then blithely say, "it wasn't me." Susan's in- depth coverage of this and and the other fascinating crimes in this book was impossible to put down.

Fans of true crime will be drawn to the twisted characters, crisp writing and page-turning pace of this book. You may only have intended to read a few pages. But be warned - once you start reading, you may not be able to stop until you've finished the entire book.

It was alright reading but after watching the discovery investigation channel or the forensic files had heard about all the stories with the exception of the Kansas family very interesting very quick read

I really didn't care much for this book. The author presents a mish-mash of re-arranged words from her research, and does not offer any new insights. Don't waste your $0.99 by getting it.

I read lots of mystery, murder, thriller-type fiction stories, so I was quite interested to read Susan Fleet's Dark Deeds, Vol.2 which is a non-fiction book about stalkers, killers, and utterly senseless murders.I heard of a few of these killers before, but I found it a bit disturbing that I hadn't heard of more of them. I watch and read the news and feel generally informed, but it seems that tragedies like these are not so uncommon and may only get a blip of airtime on the news (unless it's a local story).

Susan Fleet did a good job of going through the lives of these deranged people- explaining their background, their state of mind, their heinous deeds, and their punishments. The saying is definitely true...truth is stranger than fiction...and much more dangerous too!

I was bored silly. The stories were all the old ones that happened 20+years and we pretty much knew the rotten ones we gathered. This is one book that needs to be taken and flush the toilet. That is the one place no one can dig it out

Dark Deeds (Vol.2) by Susan Fleet is a highly-informative glimpse behind closed doors where the neurotics and even next-door neighbors simmer to boiling point and sometimes explode in murderous rampages that spill across national headlines. Most stalkers, serial killers and mass murderers are notoriously common people whose distinguishing feature is a post-traumatic stress disorder that drives them over the edge. From innkeepers to day traders, nurses to rabbis, Fleet documents the profiles of these disturbed individuals and gives us a guided tour into the world of the dangerously deranged.

This ghoulish gallery includes child killer Dean Corll and the Norman Bates-like John Bender, as well as the Angel of Death, Kristen Gilbert, and trick treater Charles Albright. The author also introduces us to the world of stalkers, represented by Robert Hoskins, Edward Taylor and Thomas Kyros. Wife killers such as Fred Neulander and James Magee are also portrayed, as are mass murderers such as Mark Barton, Scott Dekraai and Amy Bishop. Though none of these names ring funeral bells the way Manson, Dahmer and Bundy do, they serve the purpose in reminding us that sociopaths are tragedies waiting to happen. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and bringing the social reject into the fold may defuse lots of situations where the ultimate victim is society at large.

For crime fans and psychology buffs alike, Dark Deeds (Vol.2) by Susan Fleet is a worthy addition to any serious collection.

A terrible insight into the awful things that some humans can inflict upon others.
It's not a book to enjoy, more one to horrify you at the inhumanity of some.

I enjoyed reading this if 'enjoy' is the right word to use. It was interesting, readable and a very good price. It does not read like Anne Rule however I do not think the author intended it to . There is no great detail to cling too in the stories but in saying that I bought it and read it in one sitting finding it difficult to put down. This author can write. I look forward to reading more Susan Fleet in the future.

I enjoyed this book because I am a gruesome, miserable swine and like reading macabre stories. Most of the creatures in this book are truly awful and it's nice for me to believe they are suffering in the afterlife (or are going to). Easy to read and well-written (in my very humble opinion) (but I'm probably wrong), I'd read this again and any similar books by the same author.

As expected from Susan Fleet another good read, not your usual killers found in most books so very refreshing to read about unknown killers I've never heard off.
