Dead Set Delphinia (Sweethearts of Jubilee Springs Book 11) Kindle Edition
He is dead set on muddling through life on his own.
Being pressured by her father to marry his New York business associate whom she detests, Delphinia Blakewell, using the alias Delia Brownlee, secretly starts a correspondence with two miners in Jubilee Springs she contacted through the Colorado Bridal Agency. After her letters are discovered by her father, her mother sees to it she is confined to her room for three months. Only when she agrees to the wedding they wish for her is she allowed more freedom—freedom that leads to a startling discovery about her fiancé.
Delphinia flees to Colorado, using another alias, Sarah Brown, only to discover one miner she wrote to married another bride, and the other was killed in a shootout. However, she is dead set on being married and in her own home to avoid what awaits her should her father track her down. She wants to find her own miner to marry, but the owner of the bridal agency has other ideas.
Bennett Nighy makes furniture for his store in Jubilee Springs. He also makes caskets, and, by default, has assumed the job of town mortician. He enjoys his solitude. He is dead set on not complicating his life by getting married. However, he is terrible at keeping books, helping customers choose the proper furniture pieces, and he could use some help with the town’s deceased. Still, he might have been able to continue muddling through life on his own if only he hadn’t attended the town’s harvest dance.

Welcome to Jubilee Springs
This town of friendly folks in the Arkansas Valley of central Colorado sprang up right after silver was discovered in the nearby hills a decade or so ago. The western horizon is filled with vistas of the Rocky Mountains. Mount Shavano at 14,000 feet in elevation towers over other peaks. In the spring, melting snows reveal a shape that some call “The Angel of Shavano.” If looking south, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains can be seen. The Arkansas River that runs through the valley provides plenty of irrigation for ranching and crops.
About three years ago, brothers Clive and Royce Bainbridge took ownership of the Prosperity Mine where silver is mined using labor-intensive methods. Raised by a father who owned a coal mine in England, they know the value of a loyal employee. When grumblings about Jubilee Springs not having enough women were heard, the Bainbridges took action and contacted the Colorado Bridal Agency in Denver.
The brothers have built three-room row cabins which are available to the first ten men who marry. Arrangements have been made for Missus Lizett Millard to bring brides to the mining town for the Fourth of July weekend in 1881. Community events are planned to provide opportunities for the women and miners to get acquainted. Hopefully, each bride will make a selection and the lucky couples will marry on Monday, July 4th.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2021This is written a bit different “aire “ about it than the others in this book. But once you start reading you are automatically transferred into Julibee Springs. A very strong willed woman trying to find her own future not one hand picked for her. And a man who felt his world was complete desided differently once she walked into his shop.
No language and a small part where she starts taking her clothes off in front of her. But that is it. So I can recommend this book to anyone of any age to enjoy this book. It is a part of a series you don’t have to read those in order but it does help you to get to know the town and thier people.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2021I loved this couple! They were so perfect for each other, even though neither one thought so at first. Delly was stubborn, organized and very opinionated. Bennett was laid back and and not very organized. She blew into his quiet existence like a tornado!
My absolute favorite part of the story was the ending. Bennett was quite the romantic! Their conversation was so sweet ❤️🌸

5.0 out of 5 stars A new series to me.
This is the first book of this series that I have read and it is an excellent start. A strong-willed woman, bossy, argumentative but with a soft centre.
perhaps the end (spoiler alert) may be a bit stretched, but that is the whole point of a romance story to have a HEA.
