- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2022Christine DeSmet never disappoints with her Fudge Mystery series. Deadly Fudge Divas is another fun romp with Ava Oosterling expanding her fudge shop business by opening a B&B. I love B&Bs! And this is a perfect read even when stuck at home and wishing I were at the Blue Heron Inn helping Ava solve her latest mystery.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2020Half-past trout, going on coho salmon, is the perfect time for a wrench, a hammer, a knife, a pink pistol, or a giant tractor and disk. No spoilers here. This cozy mystery keeps you guessing to the last page!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2022My wife wanted to try out this author. She couldn't get into it. The scenes kept jumping around interrupting the flow. She went on to another book by an author she likes. Doubtful she will finish this.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2024A deliciously entertaining book that contains everything I love between the pages; fudge, fairy tales, secrets and a mysterious murder. When Gilpa becomes a prime suspect, Ava Oosterling has to help solve the case. I loved watching her figure it out with her fast friends. In the end, Ava is inspired to invent a new delicacy. I can't wait to try DeSmet's recipe at the end of the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2023As someone who has spent many summers in Door County and loves that region of Wisconsin, my sister erroneously thought a copy of this book would be a fine birthday gift. She was wrong.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2021The Door County, Wisconsin, setting comes alive through DeSmet's wonderful imagery, the historical and geographical details, and the mores of the local characters in this cozy mystery. I enjoyed the glimpses into the fudge-making business almost as much as following the clues. Fun book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2021I’m usually not a fan of cozies, but this one really grabbed me. Sure, the mystery was fun, but what shone through were the explorations of what it means to be/have a friend. And the characters Grandpa Gilpa and Lucky Harbor the dog were icing on the fudge! Is there icing on fudge? I don’t know, but if so, they were it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2020Ava and her Gilpa are always fun to read about and the perilous adventures they find themselves immersed in
Ava and Pauline are helping get to the bottom of the mysterious death of her ex mother in law’s friend. DeSmet does a wonderful job of capturing the charm of the Door County peninsula. It’s always fun to read about places your familiar with. Look forward to more in the series
