- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2023Loved this book. The characters were real. The way the story reads is easy to understand. Beginning through ending. A top notch book. Will read a lot more of your books. Thank you for writing this Miss Knight
- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2022Ty and Chance were both pretty difficult to connect with as characters- for this reader, they were sketched-in figures around whom events occurred. There’s more description of what makes Chance tick in the plot description than is in the actual story! Similarly, Ty’s Jamaican heritage is mentioned briefly but has no bearing on the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2023This was a sweet and complete romance. Love with an unexpected person and time! This is a great read and I recommend it
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2022It's incredible how Ty was able to hold everything together after finding out what his wife was doing. In spite of her negligence, he went on to provide for his daughter. He needed Chance in his life. This is definitely a five star rating!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2022This was a really cute love story. It’s a quick read but I still recommend it. I loved the characters!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2023This was an OK romance, but I had a few issues with it. Because of the issues below, it gets 3 stars from me.
First, it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I knew that it was short when I decided to read it, but I needed more backstory on both Ty and Chance.
The couple does fall in instalove, which was a little hard to believe -- since Chance deeply distrusted most men, and had decided she didn't need them in her life. For her to completely change her mind as soon as she met Ty wasn't very believable.
Chance was ridiculous the way she jumped to the wrong conclusion when she heard Ty's phone conversation with his daughter. She assumed his daughter was another woman, and didn't bother to let Ty explain before leaving. I get that her past had made her distrust men, but she should have at least confirmed her suspicions before getting so angry.
There were a couple of big errors in this story. It was noted at the beginning that Chance's father had abandoned them when she very young, she barely remembered him, and didn't even know where he was -- but he escorts her in to her wedding? Also, the spelling of the name of Andrew's daughter kept changing. Sometimes it was Sasha, and sometimes it was Sascha. It was sometimes spelled both ways very close together.
I did like that Ty wasn't the perfectly fit, chiseled male that is in most romances -- but was instead a good looking man who just happened to carry a little extra weight. I appreciate that the authors of this series understand that men (and women) don't need to have perfect bodies to be attractive.
One thing that bothers me a little about a lot of the stories in this series is the book covers (although it doesn't apply on this cover). This is just my personal opinion, and it did NOT affect my rating, but I can't stand the heavy beards on many of the men. I know they are popular right now, but I don't like beards like that. A short, nicely trimmed beard is fine -- but those huge, thick beards are just not my cup of tea.
My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2022When I first heard that there was a group of authors setting out to write a whole series based on hefty heroes. I was beyond excited!
I mean I'm all for a hero is doesn't have the 6-12 pack abs. The one who is like a giant teddy bear and can be cuddled with and keep you nice and warm on those cold nights ;)
So let me start this review off with what I liked about this book.
I actually had a favorite part and it was when Ty was giving his speech to his employees, Rosie, Frank, and Chance. I liked that the author brought in the fact that males do actually struggle with their body issues and it's not just a female problem.
The s** scenes are also liable to light my kindle on fire! They are hot!
But when I get to thinking about this..there's not much "meat" to this story. I feel as if Chance is a character we've probably already met in a previous book so we as a reader should already know all about her backstory. At least this is how the writing comes across to me. I wish there was just more about both these characters and maybe a bit more to the epilogue. Like give me some scenes with how Chance and Ty's daughter do with their new relationship.
