Dissonance of the Dead: You Never Know Who You'll Meet When You're Dead (Opus of the Dead Book 2) Kindle Edition
Propelled forward by a promise, my fellow spirits and I wander the world of the living searching for our purpose.
Will delving into the metaphysical side of death, the science of the afterlife, provide the answers? Maybe if I can understand why I continue to exist, I will be able to rest in peace. That is the goal—the ultimate finale—sans encores.
The soundtrack of my death snakes through my story. On the plane of the dead, I continue to reconcile this existence with the off-kilter dissonance of the ever-present music resounding in my mind.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2019I was eager to read Dissonance of the Dead after reading Lullaby of the Dead and I wasn't disappointed. In fact, if anything, I was just as amazed and captivated as the first one. If an author's words are meant to transport the reader to a distant place mesmerizing and enthralling them in such a way that reality disappears, than Lynn Lamb is truly gifted!
I didn't want the story to end and delayed writing this review because it acknowledged that another novel in the Opus of the Dead series was indeed over. In this day and age of more books than most supernatural suspense lovers can read in a lifetime, Lynn Lamb's Opus stands out. If you haven't read this series, you owe it to yourself to do so!
Thank you, Ms. Lamb, for writing another exceptional story!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2019Scene building is one of the greatest strengths, among many of her writing talents, of author Lynn Lamb. This second book stands up to and surpasses the first with the expansion of the depth of the characters, new characters, and the development of the “afterlife”. This is a haunting, mysterious adaptation of the metaphysical which will keep you twisting and turning in your seat. Drizzled with action and a few light touches of humor, Dissonance of the Dead keeps you moving along at a steady pace with splashes of more intense action and it rises to the task of the second book in a series as a well-rounded sequel.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2019The after death memoir of Landry Sinclair continues in this action filled sequel of mysterious events and hidden truths as she and her band of companions struggle to cope with their newest deathstyle. The bond between friends and the romance between Landry and Topanga continues as the author weaves yet another realm in the imaginative afterworld of her creation from Lullaby of the Dead while strong character development presents a leading lady you are not likely to forget. If you’re looking for something unquestionably unique, you’re sure to find it in Dissonance of the Dead.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2019Now that Landry Sinclair has come to terms with being dead, she and her new friends (and lover Topanga) have left Nashton House to search for their loved ones and places from their past. No spoilers, but family members are found, new companions join the group, and a feud that continues into the afterlife sets the stage for an epic battle, as well as forcing our adventurers to face their true stance on morality and the priorities they had in life (and now in death). Fantastic (and chilling) sequel by Lynn Lamb. Very intriguing, loved it!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2019Great second book. You forget the characters are dead. Many new characters introduced, new and different places. Deep in imagination of evil, good and mental illness. One character's death will continually haunt me forever. Be prepared at how cruel even dead people can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A ghost story with real history
In the first book in this series, we met a group of ghosts haunting a house through the eyes of the recently deceased Landry Sinclair. Dissonance of the Dead sees these same spirits move beyond the confines of the house to explore the wider world. Featuring actual local history, the book explores themes such as childbirth, family and the inner workings of a backwards cult riddled with hypocrisy and dysfunction. Landry stays true to her resilient character, assisted by Native American Topanga who acts as mentor and love interest. Serine is back, keen to explore her descendants' lives and get some closure. New characters include a nun and a clown, whose own stories are as rich as those we've already witnessed both here and in the previous book. This is an exciting read and a great opportunity to study some fringe history of California.
