About the author

The Wakefield Series has now been re-published in paperback and ebook formats. The crime fiction series set primarily in Yorkshire, consists of TROPHIES, TORMENT, which was shortlisted in the prestigious Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger in 2013, TALISMAN and TAINTED.
Previously, The Wakefield Series became an International Best Seller in June 2017.
The Tendring Series continues with the second, DISTRESSED, available now in ebook format along with the paperback version. The first in the series, DISPOSAL, is also available in ebook and paperback. The crime series is set in north Essex in the late 1970s.
After a successful career in the construction industry, I began to write seriously and have thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read
This definitely a must read. The intricate plot is a page-turner with plenty of tension and is backed up by fully rounded characters. The author has obviously put in his research. The conversation is so well written and natural you actually feel part of the discussion. There are even touches of humour in an otherwise taut and emotional unfolding of events.
Although Distressed can be read as a stand alone story, there is value in reading the previous book in the series, Disposal where we get to meet the police team. The series delivers not only detailed and believable plots but also engages with the investigating team, not always successful in crime novels.
The writer is adept at creating a sense of time (especially as set in 1977) and place with a clever balance of action and description.
Really look forward to meeting with DI Dick Barton and DS Cyril Claydon again in the not too distant future. In fact this would make a great TV Drama series.
Fully recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another enjoyable detective novel where local Tendring references made it fun.
LIke Tendring Book 1 this is another enjoyable detective novel following a fairly standard formula with nicely written characters. The book is more fun when, like me, you live locally to the places and pubs etc that David Evans references...and I guess largely that the point of it.
