    Well, HOLY COW! This story doesn’t even begin with a bang, it begins with a violent scene of River fighting for her life. The story then goes back two days to when River is in one of her classes at the Dolmire Academy of Spells. She’s only been a student for five months and the big celebration of Winter Solstice is that night. She and her BFF Paige walk into their History class and the professor has a vision about blood running like a river – which makes River wonder if the professor is referring to her somehow. She also heads to another professor’s classroom to return a book he lent her. That professor is Daimen, while incredibly good looking, the witch community refers to him as ‘traitor blood’. Apparently his father had tried to out them to humans and that is a big no no. The two of them have a serious chicka-wow-wow moment then.

    So when River makes it to the party, the headmistress has her own vision and she publicly looks at River while saying it, thus making some of the males at the school attack her. Daimen stands in front of her to protect her, but she still has to fight them off. He manages to use magic for them to escape, and they are attacked again and have to escape. Again. They have to fight off werewolves and vampires while trying to get to River’s mother’s house. Oh, and they have more chicka-wow-wow time too.

    This story is definitely non-stop from beginning to end. River is a powerful, young witch, daughter to one of the most powerful witches in the North American Covens. She’s being framed for something she didn’t do and Daimen is with her every step…or battle of the way to prove her innocence. I read a story by Ms. Schutt in the Shadow Kisses: A Zodiac Shifters Paranormal Romance Anthology and reviewed it for BookSprout. I liked it so much that when this book came up I jumped at the chance to read and review it. Ms. Schutt gave us a great story that I couldn’t put down!

    I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review. As I’ve said before, I always give honest reviews whether people appreciate them or not.

    Dolmire Academy of Spells by Mckayla Schutt is an adventure filled story about a witch named River who is just trying to live her best school life at the Dolmire Academy of Spells when everything she knows and loves is threatened by hunters. This book starts off full of magic and romance which are two of my favorite things and then advances quickly into mystery, danger, and intrigue. I couldn't put this book down. Definitely a must read for anyone who enjoys academy books.

    Damien and River are very likeable characters. Each brings their own strength to the story.

    This book definitely good for a lunch break reading session. Normally I would not care for a book less than a hundred pages because I usually feel like there is more to be read but not with this book.

    I enjoyed it.

    This was pretty good, but it felt like there were some missing pieces in the world building. I didn’t feel really engaged with the characters.
    I did like the strong women, and the explanation that Dolmire is a university. Makes a little more sense.

    This is a fast-paced and standalone book that will keep you engaged from start to finish. There's action, adventure, drama, danger, suspense, twists/turns, enemies, survival, intrigue, mystery/secrets, surprises, family, fear, anger, evil, friends/friendships, conflict, resolution, confusion, confidence, strength, courage, trust, truths, protection, violence, fighting, magic, frustration, accusations, determination, happiness, romance, passion/lust and love.
    The h is a powerful young witch who is being framed for something she hasn't done and the H is helping to prove her innocence. Who is framing her? And why?
    Read to find out what happens. Can't wait to read the next book by this author. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and this review is my own opinion.
