Dragon Gold (The Draconiad Book 2) Kindle Edition
When the sword of prophecy chose Erein as Lord Gold, his future was clear. Find Lady Silver. Build an army. Drive the dragons out of Pella Sicula. Of course, that was before Jay refused to become Lady Silver and his well-planned future collapsed. Now, when dragons attack, he must face them alone.
Jay has problems of her own. The time shift that saved her from the eruption of Vesuvius took her to City Earth, the worst place in at least two universes. She’s stuck there unless she can work out how to control her shifts through time. If she can, she might be able to find her way back to Pella to help Erein to save humanity.
But before she can try, she needs to save a horse.
Dragon Gold continues the story of the Draconiad, begun in Dragon Silver.

About the author

I am an Australian author with a passion for social history and the Roman world. Career-wise, I've jumped between government and teaching (mostly Latin) while raising children, cats, dogs, horses, and more than a few chickens. Also, as my oldest friend reminds me, quite a number of accidental sheep. My children, both young adults now, make me proud every day, and have crept into the pages of this book in a hundred little ways. They are also, if truth be told, a little surprised to see me publish books. But if we can’t surprise our own children, are we really even trying?

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant follow-up to Dragon Silver; loved every moment.
This brilliant follow-up to the superb Dragon Silver follows immediately from the major cliff-hanger in Silver, immediately goes where I didn't expect, and basically made me just sit back and enjoy the ride. It's immensely satisfying.
Lauten's writing continues to mature in this second book. Her visions of both past and future, as visited by her time-travelling protagonist, are engrossing and plausible; her characters develop even further as people, and her worlds become settled.
Even better, it's a big, fat, chunky read. I read insanely fast, and this one still takes me the better part of a couple of days to finish. It's wonderful.
Breathlessly waiting the third book, Dragon Electrum!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Draconiad series just gets better
I loved this book. We get to follow Anna Lauten's beautifully created characters through futuristic CityEarth, and the dragon-dense Pella (which is an alternate ancient Roman timeline). In this, the second of the series, the dragon wars have started (ah! but by whom?) and Jay Silver tries to find a novel way to stop it once and for all. At the same time, she starts to think her time-shifting powers may be controllable which opens up possibilities for her. And of course, Lord Gold continues to follow the prophecy and becomes even more ensnared by the sword. If you loved reading Dragon Silver, you will love Dragon Gold even more. (If you haven't read Dragon Silver, you can still read this book as a stand-alone, but why would you do so?!) I highly recommend this book - Lauten's writing and imagination just keeps getting better.
