- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2019I wanna write a tiny fanfic for one of the chapters, but that'd be a bit of a spoiler so I won't put any more information about it here. The science was lovely, the politics believable, very well done. :D
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2019China has figured out a way to build a metaphorical Sword of Damocles on the Moon, and there are only a few days to prevent them from being able to annihiliate any enemy, anywhere on the face of the Earth or nearby.
US Special forces are called in on a cobbled together one way trip to the Moon, with all of our allies helping.
The writing kept me reading, even if I did spot a couple plot holes and if there was an entirely unnecessary subplot that did nothing but pad the word count. Well that and cater to the teen demographic. A little leaner and fixing the most gaping of the plot holes, and I'd have likely given it the fifth star.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2017I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Don't start reading it unless you are prepared to neglect all other aspects of your life. In this political thriller we get to explore the consequences of abandoning the space race all those years ago. It seems inevitable that the political struggle for world dominance must ultimately lead heavenward.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2018Tarbet has woven his magic once more in this intricately woven space/military adventure. Extremely well written and clearly well researched, this should please anyone who loves the techo-thriller genre. Dragon Moon is told from several distinct view points creating a series of elaborate interwoven stories that combine to bring down a evil plot with a sinister world destroying weapon. My only critical feedback is that while it is a story of adventure and intrigue, each phase of the plot is developed with great care, making an already sizable book a slower read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2017The writing style flows easily, and the tech in the book is well thought out, and plays an important part in the plot. The author knows his astronomy. The tech is cool, but readers want a story. Tarbet delivers several, all intertwined as part of an overall plot with surprising scope and forethought.
There is love both lost and found, trust in the goodness of others, betrayal on innumerable levels, misunderstandings, and abuse of power, all dancing between the teenagers swept up in events beyond their control, the faction bent on world domination, and those who are assigned to keep that from happening.
One minor downside is that a lot of characters are introduced in a hurry, which is kind of typical for thrillers. It's a little hard to follow until you get to know who is who. I'm glad I read this ARC, and encourage you to give it a go.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2018If Robert E. Heinlein and Tom Clancy had written a book together, this would be it! However, since they did not, Scott E. Tarbet did the work for them. A fast-paced, thrilling tale of espionage and sci fi action on an epic scale. The cast of characters is large, but none of them leave you bored or wondering who they are. Each has a place in this story and Tarbet writes these parts well. I recommend this book to all fans of military sci fi and political thrillers.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2017Loved the pace and descriptiveness of this book! The premise and order of events was so believable it had me hooked by the first few pages. The character story lines all intertwine deftly and the author obviously did a lot of research on details, both scientific and political. Great read, easy to follow and very captivating.

This one is as realistic as it is terrifying. The story features a near-future race between the US and China to get control of a weapon, that once installed, gives control of the future to the nation that’s wielding that weapon. The author did his research, and both the plot and the compelling characters kept me fully engrossed.
