Drawing Dead (Russian Cardroom) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 37 ratings

The river card has been dealt, and I’m sitting here with a losing hand.

As the second in command for the Las Vegas Russian Bratva, I need to be firm, unshakable. The organization depends on me being levelheaded. But when I go head-to-head with the deadliest man in the city, all bets are off. I’ve fallen for his daughter.

She is mine.

When I learn she has a secret that could rock the very foundation of the Vegas underworld, I give her my name in order to protect her.

I’ll defy the people I’ve come to trust.

My hand is dead, but I’m not above cheating. I’d do anything for my queen.

Another installment in the dark mafia romance series, Russian Cardroom is here to take your breath away.

You’ve felt the power that the men of Dark Reign hold. Now it’s time to fall under their rule again with new men who hold their world in their hands as they find the women who make them fall to their knees.
Power comes at a cost and these men have sacrificed their souls. They know violence, death, and how to walk in the gray, but that doesn’t mean they are without weakness. The women they love are their light and they would scorch the Earth to protect them. This December meet the men who rule their empires of crime and the women who stand by them while darkness reigns.

Lennon, a Las Vegas princess, is unknowingly watched by Dimitri, one of the right hand men of the Las Vegas Bratva pakhan. As the story progresses she gets into hot water, tries to remain a good daughter, and finds out too late that she is being lead like a lamb to be slaughtered. Drawing Dead kept my dark romance addiction fed. I hope that Aleksei and Mikhail have their stories told soon.

Take my name...I will protect you. Yes Please!!! At this point I will do whatever any of these men say to do, not only because they love hard, but even for a night I would do many wrong things. LOL

Lennon Bronwyn has found herself in trouble with the Triad and the Russian Bratva and even a powerful father can’t stop what’s coming for her. Now she must put her faith in a stranger if she has any chance of surviving the trouble she and her half sisters are in.

Dimitri Volkov is a powerful man within the Las Vegas Russian Bratva and he’s had his eyes on Lennon for awhile. He keeps waiting for her but when she makes a fatal mistake he knows he has to use his name to protect her but he’s not sure how willing she is going to be.

Can Dimitri keep Lennon safe from everyone after her and can he convince her that how he feels about her is real?

This was an okay read but it is definitely love in high speed. It is pretty much insta-love after a few days of being together which is something that I personally struggle with a little.

Lennon was definitely mixed up with the dangerous crowd when she was helping her half sisters with their schemes and they caught the attention of the wrong people. Lennon had no real idea initially of how much trouble she was in and I don’t think she took it serious enough until a certain point. I found her a little entitled and she fell for Dimitri super fast after hating him for the first coupler of days and then it switched right to love which I found super unrealistic. I wish there had been more build up to the change in feelings.

Dimitri was a “master” and a powerful man in the Russian Bratva who was determined to keep Lennon safe at any cost, even if that meant starting a war. He knew he wanted Lennon for awhile and had been watching her so he determined she was the one for him, even though he had no idea how she felt. To me that was a little surprising as you could only pick one person and he picked someone he had never even had a conversation with.

There was a definite attraction between the two of them and Lennon was ready to do whatever she needed to do to please Dimitri. That being said I wasn’t sold on their relationship and for me it felt a little forced.

There was no doubt Dimitri was going to do whatever he could to protect her and the end surprised me with her sisters and their new men as well. More insta love and I’m not sure if each of them are getting their own books.

I couldn’t put this book down! Right from the start, it had me on the edge of my seat. Dimitri has been watching Lennon for some time. He finally appears to her when her and her sister are in danger. He does everything in his power to show her he is going to protect her forever. Lennon is very much an independent woman who doesn’t take crud from anyone. She is definitely drawn to Dimitri right from the beginning, but won’t take no crud from him. Their chemistry is electric and definitely sizzles. There is definitely one step forward and two steps back between the two all the time. Will Dimitri be able to prove to Lennon that the only thing he wants is for her to stay safe? The Triad is out to get her and as long as she’s with him she will be safe he tells her. Will Lennon stop fighting the pull she has to Dimitri and allow him fully into her life? Will Lennon ever be safe from danger? Wait til you find out! The ending is everything and more.

This is the second book in this series, and this is Dmitri and Lennon’s story.
Dmitri is second in charge for the Las Vegas Russian Bratva, and Lennon is independent and sassy. There was an instant connection between Dmitri and Lennon from the moment they meet, and he will do whatever he must to protect and keep her safe.
This is a well written easy to read, action packed story, with family, friendships, secrets, lies, kidnapping, twists, and love, which all had me on tenterhooks throughout, and leads to an entertaining, tragic, unpredictable, and steamy addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

‘Drawing Dead’ is an intense mafia book with a mafia man

Lennon and Dimitri are such are fiery hot with chemistry that burns white hot… but Lennon is fighting it for so many reasons. Secrets abound and crises chase them from beginning to end, causing suspenseful moments to arise often and it is divine! Dimitri falls first and hard and I loved it!! Lennon is strong in so many ways and helps others, even though that's not common in their world. These two work even though it doesn't make sense and that makes sense. ❤️ I can't wait to see what happens next in this world!!

I savored this book. I definitely want to read more books from Em Shue. ❤️

In Drawing Dead the action never lets up. There was a lot going on and the book was hard to put down, wanting to know what happens next. This was my first book with this set of characters and it took a minute to sort out the good guys from the bad guys, but once I did, it was a very satisfactory read.
