Dream Bound: MM Gay Paranormal Romance (Tasier Book 1) Kindle Edition
Joon
Besides the occasional pang of loneliness, I really was content with my orderly existence until, one day, a chance encounter with a psychic turned my life sideways. And before I knew it, I got caught up in a secret organization of individuals with special powers and discovered my hitherto unknown parents. But most surprising of all… who would have thought I’d actually meet a man I've been dreaming about all my life?
Trey
My life is really quite complete… with a childhood full of adventures, a membership in a cool secret organization, sometimes annoying but fabulous special abilities, and, of course, the love of my life. Except there is just a slight problem. My love shares his dreams with me, but does not seem to remember me in real life.
Darkness casts shadows over us. Hidden threats try to tear us apart. Will we find a way to be with each other and fight against the darkness?
This is Part I of the series set in the universe of a secret organization named Tasier. Part I’s adventure belongs to Joon and Trey.

About the author

Arian lives in the nostalgic rainy city of Seattle in the Pacific Northwest of the US with their loving partner, five adorable stuffed penguins, all with their own proper names, and one imaginary Maine Coon cat.
They began writing romance novels in high school primarily to entertain their romance reading buddies, but it soon became their hobby and passion. They've just never been confident enough until later in their life to put themself out there.
They love to live in their own head and vicariously experience the lives of their characters. How else would they be able to live half a dozen lives at once?
They're grateful for their caring partner who’s been nothing but encouraging despite them spending hours inside their head.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2021I've been missing my ability to read a book in less than 24 hours. It came back with full force with this book. It's not perfect - almost none are. It needed more editing, maybe the pacing is a bit off, maybe there was too little happening at times. All of this goes away however with the world that Arian built, which pulled me in and didn't let go until the last page. Secret organizations, people with abilities, cryptic villains - there's everything here you'd need, but somehow she's struck the right balance with all of that to keep it fascinating instead of infuriating.
I want to learn so much more about the world and all the characters. MCs are great, their relationship works and they are extremely adorable together. I get their motivation and really wish the best for them. The side characters however are shining almost as brightly. There's so much to explore with each of them.
I need to warn you about one thing though - the ending is very open so you won't be able to sleep as well as you used to because you'll be impatiently waiting for book 2's release.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2024Format: KindleVerified Purchase3.5: cliffhangers with background story that directly effects the MCs. And personally I wish Joon (and the others somewhat) had shared more about their past and issues (like the aversion to touch) earlier in the book with more explanation of the “world” in general. But a good book and would recommend with the above understanding

I’m captivated by Joon & Trey. Theirs is a sweet, uncomplicated romance. Another reviewer compared this book to YA & while that’s not how I’d describe it, it does share a lot of that flavor. The characters really do seem damn young, for one thing. For another, it’s straightforward storyline doesn’t hold anything back. But I leave this book’s world excited. Starting in on a new, promising series always offers a bit of a thrill.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2024Format: KindleI was given a copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Joon and Trey have been meeting in their dreams. Trey knows what it means but Joon thinks it's just dreams. When they meet things slowly begin to come together and Trey tells Joon about his special abilities. This is an interesting book with good world and character building. I did think that Joon and Trey lacked chemistry in parts of the story. There were also parts of the story that dragged for me and I found myself skimming. I am looking forward to reading book two.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2024Format: KindleThis is the first book that I've read by this author and I was pleasantly surprised! Great story and fantastic world building. Amazing and complex characters. I loved it! I read an advanced copy of this book and this is my unbiased review! So good!

4.0 out of 5 stars Liked some of the book but not others
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe best word that I can think of to describe this book is intriguing. Arian Williams only gives us the reality of the situation very slowly and as a consequence I felt a bit lost at times. If you can just let things unfold as they need to then you will probably enjoy this story as I ultimately did. By the end of the book I had really enjoyed the journey and look forward to more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Promises a fascinating world, but I can’t get past the unknowns and emotional distance
Format: KindleVerified Purchase2.5/5 I seem to be in the minority here, but unfortunately, this just did not work for me. The ideas were there, but I felt like I was looking through a foggy window three miles away, kept at such a distance and without answers. I could not engage with the characters or story as a result and spent a lot of time preoccupied with questions that I was not getting any answers to and which the MCs didn’t seem to think about at all. (Given the other reviews this may be a purely me problem, but I was feeling it so hard, lol.)
My first issue was one that I have in some other fantasy-in-real-world books, where I know exactly what I’m reading, so I have suspended disbelief from page 1. The MC who doesn’t know about the world, meanwhile, is totally doubtful. This might be highly realistic, but I don’t find it particularly interesting to read. I’m ready to jump into the cool magical world, and he’s still uncertain. Additionally, Joon seems to deal with emotions by not dealing with them whenever he’s uncertain/nervous/doubtful of his own worth. And this whole darn world is a big unknown with a lot of new people, which he’s bad at, so he spends a lot of time shut down. So what should be my wondering in this new world just … isn’t.
Meanwhile, Trey already knows about this new world, so we get very little explanation from him, and all he cares about is the soulmate he thought was a dream but now knows is real, only that soulmate doesn’t remember him. He’s just waiting for Joon to get his memories back (having been cautioned against telling him everything), so there goes everything from the meet-cute onward. These two have already met and already fallen in love, Joon just doesn’t know it yet.
So Joon doesn’t feel like he belongs anywhere and has trouble with people and thinks this all might be a dream. Trey works with computers, has lots of friends, and is waiting for his soulmate to remember him. Oh, and Joon likes dragons. By 70% of the book, this is what I feel like I’ve learned about the MCs. But it’s okay, there’s this amazing magical world, that will keep my interest, right? But … Joon isn’t sure any of this is real, so he’s asking virtually no questions. And this is where my personality type clashes so hard with Joon that I’m having trouble functioning. While I want to question everything, we get inundated by Trey’s friends and go out to a club for a music concert. While Trey is supposed to be teaching Joon to shield, they’re finally getting intimate. While the theoretically most interesting thing to happen thus far happens, Joon figured it might just be a regular dream (and the reaction of the person he finally tells it to is equally lacklustre. It turns out to be important, but it’s totally downplayed and there’s no communication, so you can’t tell.) When Joon really needs to be protected … they don’t actually do that until after something has happened….
I had so many questions, the review was too long for Amazon, so I’ve taken them out. Suffice it to say, we know almost nothing about Tasier, powers, or training for most of the book. (And it’s not just the answers, I do understand we’re not going to learn everything in book 1, but almost none of the questions are even *asked*).
In the last 7% of the book, we start to get some answers about a few of those questions. But we’ve still done zero training of Joon, the ostensible thing we’ve been intending to do for the entire book. This world sounds really interesting. The dream walking we almost never get to see sounds really cool, and I bet the MCs had fun travelling together and falling in love … we just don’t get to see that either. Time travelling sounds fascinating … but we don’t learn a single solitary thing about it as relates to the MC and his abilities (oh, except it involves glowing threads). It’s clear there’s a big, amazing world out there, and this is a set-up for a series where we’re eventually going to learn a lot more. It unfortunately, I just wasn’t engaged in the actual story, as I learned too little, too late.
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.
