MELINDA HAMMOND was born in the West Country and grew up with a love of reading and history.     Sweet, but too predictable little romance. All the situations were pat repeats of other stories in which a young lady runs away from home to avoid a terrible match decreed by a greedy father. It is well written which saves the story from being three stars.
