This beautifully illustrated story teaches children that they're perfect just as they are. We often want to be something else, but sometimes when we get our wish, it's not what it seems. So be careful what you wish for!
A lovely fantasy, with a wishing well that actually works and makes wishes come true. There are cupcakes galore, in a story that has style, charm and love - it's beautiful. The only problem is I now have an almost irresistible desire for cupcakes.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was a nice bedtime story for both girls and boys, from ages 5 to 7. They got a kick out of the girl becoming giant with cupcakes too tiny and then tiny with an enormous cupcake. It was well-illustrated, too.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA very sweet story depicting a very important life lesson: embracing who we are. The illustrations are vibrant, giving the story a fairytale feel. The cupcake recipe is an added bonus. The book is definitely a must have in kids' libraries. I'll be in the lookout for more books from this author. I highly recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFollow poor Ellie as she finally gets her wish of being a giant - and quickly recognizes it’s not all she dreamed. She can’t play with her friends, she can’t fit on the swings, and cupcakes are so small! My kids (4 and 2) loved the illustrations and really enjoyed the story of Ellie as she realized there was a lot to love about being herself.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is a beautifully illustrated book with an adorable little girl. She loves to dream big but learns sometimes we don't actually want what we think we do. This would be a great mommy & me book. Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFun story about a little girl who wanted to become a giant, but found out it is not all it’s cracked up to be. Loved the bonus recipes at the end of the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI love it! Cute, original idea. Nice message at the end. I wish there was more rhyme. It is a great story though. Love the beautiful illustrations! Now I need some cupcakes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic children's book
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this story - as did my children. It's a little deeper than your average picture book and, with my editor's head on, I'd love the author to develop this into a chapter book in future as it's so engaging and could definitely be grown even more.
As a picture book, it is fantastic, it's got humour, wishes, vibrant illustrations and a twist at the end which is a refreshing change. It isn't written in rhyme, and this goes in this book's favour as the story has more detail as it's not being held back by the author trying to find rhyming words.
My children enjoyed it and when we read it the first time they both were upset when we got to the end - they wanted more! I hope we will read more from this author again. It's a lovely book, beautifully illustrated and makes you think about what you wish for...

5.0 out of 5 stars Cupcake Recipe Included!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI just read "Sam the Sneezing Scarecrow" by this author, in which Ellie, the main character of this book makes a brief cameo, so I had to make sure to read this one next! Ellie learns about the old adage "be careful what you wish for", when she wishes to be a giant, but things don't go quite as she expected, as now her beloved cupcakes appear tiny! I love how this author includes little extras with her stories, in this case the recipe for Ellie's favourite cupcakes, which I can't wait to make and taste!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute book
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWe liked the illustrations in this book. My kids love cupcakes and looking at the title we thought this book was about cupcakes but found it had a different story line. However, my kids enjoyed reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWow ... that was the first word my little 4 year old said when we finished reading the story. He next said, that was a good story, can we read it again it was pretty cool! It was fantastic! His favourite bit of the book was the cupcakes at the start!

5.0 out of 5 stars Be careful what you wish for...
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt’s not very often I read a picture book book and i don’t want to it end. I think this would make a great chapter book, so you could really build up the characters and plot. As it is, it’s a charming story. I wont give away the story but it is lovely for bedtime for boys and girls. The illustrations are gorgeous.
