He's determined to win her, but first, she'll need to learn to trust her heart.

Having been duped once by a charming scoundrel, Georgiana Darcy finds that, along with the excitement of soirees and new experiences, her first season is chock full of uncertainty.

She knows the purpose of a season is to find a husband, but how does one judge the character of a man when she dares not trust her heart? For a year, Jack Ralston has been attempting to win Georgiana's heart. The only problem is, she has no idea he is trying to be anything other than a friend.

Determined to find a way to move from friend to suitor, Jack's undertakes a scheme to make her miss him. However, schemes in real life are not scripted like those presented on a stage, and Georgiana's confusion coupled with Jack's stratagems may result in heartbreak rather than happily ever after.

If you like well-written, fast-paced, sweet Regency romances with a generous dash of fun, then you will love this story about learning to trust your heart and allowing it to lead you to true love.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This novella is part of my A Dash of Darcy Companion Stories Collection. These Pride and Prejudice inspired stories are quick, sweet reads that vary in length from short story to novella and focus on characters other than Darcy and Elizabeth. Due to the short length, they are perfect stories for when life is busy, and you just need a dash of indulgence.

Each of the stories in this collection is a sequel to an
A Dash of Darcy story, and just like the A Dash of Darcy stories, these companion tales are reimaginings of Jane Austen's classic tale and her characters. They are not retellings, so while some points and events may mirror those in Pride and Prejudice, most in these A Dash of Darcy Companion Stories will not. In fact, these stories will include new events as well as interesting new characters.

Leenie Brown's heroes, when growing up, were authors, and the worlds they painted with words were (and still are) her favourite playgrounds! Now, as an adult, she spends much time in the regency world, playing with the characters from her favourite Jane Austen novels and those of her own creation.

When she is not traipsing down a trail in an attempt to keep up with her imagination, Leenie resides in the beautiful province of Nova Scotia with her two sons and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with a healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tilney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

This is the first book I've read by this author, and not having read any of the prior books in this series, this book held its own as a stand-alone. I'm a huge fan of all things Austen and P&P in particular. This story was endearing from the beginning, starting with Georgiana Darcy's emergence into society, and her long-time admirer, Jack Ralston. The story carried the perfect cadence of the period, though not necessarily the language (which I'm really okay with since the stiff British can be daunting to comprehend), that allowed for continual smooth reading, immersion into the story and pure enjoyment! Leenie Brown is one of the best authors I've read, and I read 1-2 books daily. There is no abundance of archaic terminology to get bogged down in, there are no factual errors in the story and less than 10 editing errors that are minor. Pleasantest should be more pleasant, whom is incorrectly used several times, extra commas, and Jack in the possessive would be Jack's. These are extremely minor compared to all other books I've read. I look forward to reading more of her books!

The only complaint I had with this book is that it moved a little more slowly at times than some of Ms Brown’s other books. The dialogue was witty and fun, and the characters were also. This book was even followed by a short story about a tertiary character whom readers were sure to have developed an interest in by the end of the story.
    4.5 stars.

I loved this book from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Keep them coming

Another entry in the HEA series starting with the Darcy’s and branching to their relations.

It was fun reading about Georgiana fighting to overcome the emotional damage inflicted in Ramsgate. The HEA was not a surety.

    Thumbs up.

After reading Becoming Entangled, I messaged Ms. Brown about a follow up story about Jack and Georgiana. She did not disappoint. Loved Jack’s relationship with Anne and Alistair. And Lady Margaret is back and feisty as ever. I do suggest you read the first two books first in order to get a deeper understanding of Anne, Alistair, Lady Margaret and Jack. But, it is not absolutely necessary as long as you are familiar with Georgiana’s debacle at Ramsgate. Georgiana and Alistair’s story is lovely. Ms. Brown has a way of developing characters you want to know better, like Miss Hazel and Harold Parkes. Thankfully, Ms. Brown gave us an extra short story to see Hazel to her HEA, but it left me wanting to know more about Harold’s future. Maybe he could meet Mary or Kitty Bennet in another story???

Clean. Some angst. Humor. Lovable characters.

A well written addendum to Becoming Entangled, however this can certainly be read as a stand alone. Georgiana is absolutely perfectly written here. She's sweet, shy, and confused about her own feelings. It's a little predictable but there is some angst for a short while when things don't go exactly as we all might hope. There's a touch of Elizabeth and Darcy here but there's much more of Anne and her husband (who are rather entertaining in their own right). All in all, its a short but sweet story you won't be sorry you picked up.

I enjoy Ms. Brown's vision and books about life after Pride and Prejudice. This book is Georgina's story and it is wonderful.
From the beautiful cover to the story inside, I found the book to be perfect. The story is enjoyable, sweet and satisfying.
I received an ARC of this book. The choice to read and review it was all mine.

I didn’t think I’d like Pride and Prejudice variations before I read Leenie Browne. She captures the characters while placing them under different constraints. She writes exceptionally well, and she maintains a high standard consistently. Highly recommended.
