Naomi E Lloyd is a writer who loves exploring both the dark and lighter sides of fantasy stories.

Where her debut series, Tandro, takes readers on a coming-of-age fantasy romance across another time and realm, her more recent series, Death Kiss, delves into a dark, supernatural world, full of deception, magic, and seductive twists.

But whether finding the light or delving into the dark with her fantasy stories, there is a common thread that weaves the dark-light themes of her storytelling together: connection—the journeys that shape rather than break us. For whilst her characters face tumultuous challenges, and sometimes traumatic experiences in her books, it is their resilience and determination that makes their journeys so transformative.

Formerly a law student at Warwick University, she started writing her debut series, Tandro, after the story concept kept popping up in her recurring dream. This was a multi-faceted story she couldn’t let go of and one that sent her on a research journey across the world, to bring the story to fruition and finally realise her real-life dream of holding a book she had written in her hands.

Three books later, it was via another vivid dream that her next series, Death Kiss, was born. A dark fantasy story she felt so compelled to bring to life she wrote down the blurb within moments of waking up.

As a believer in listening to your dreams, Naomi’s stories transport you into other worlds and times, give you characters you either root for or love to hate, and treat you to endings with unexpected twists and turns.

Although born in Yorkshire and a northern girl at heart, Naomi now lives by the historical beaches of Portsmouth, where she can often be found in a café, tapping away on her laptop or walking along the sunny promenade with her camera in hand.

    This is the first time that a book surprises me like this. The first book was not at all my taste, despite the fact that the general plot caught my attention and it was well-developed. I liked the second book a lot more, but I felt it more realistic than I expected, and while Erin's story captured me, this latest installment was totally on another level.

    A story full of time travel, mind games and romance. There are so many questions that form in the book that I thought it would be impossible to answer all of them, but Naomi managed it and in an amazing way. All the pieces fit together into the ending, after one of the best twists I've come across in a book.

    In short, it's been a long time since I felt so excited recommending a book, especially since I really didn't have good expectations and was very surprised.

    I started this book very eager to know what happened after the cliffhanger in the second book. Unfortunately, the first half of the book was confusing at times and a little frustrating the rest because what was happening was not congruent with what I had learned in the second book, it just didn't add up (at first).

    I briefly toyed with the idea of putting it down because I couldn't believe why the main character would be with a certain other character (my attempt to keep this review spoiler free) but I am glad that my curiosity to know what happens won because this book is worth sticking through the end.

    Everything that confused me became crystal clear during a big plot twist that I didn't see coming until it was almost on top of me! The author really got me there, wow! The second half of the book is great and I loved the character development, twists and surprises all the way through the end.

    I had the chance to review this book via an ARC. All opinions are my own.

    This is the 3rd book in the series, and to be perfectly honest, I re-read Release (Book 1) and Reach (Book 2) again before I read this one. I'm glad I did, there were details in books 1 and 2 that I had forgotten from the first read.

    At first, I felt like I'd missed something between Reach and this one. I'm usually really good at picking up clues and subtleties but there seemed to be gaps. Once I got farther into the book the pieces started falling into place. Theres some huge twists and turns that take you on an emotional rollercoaster.

    I really loved this book. What a ride.

    I love this series of books. I always start reading and then can’t put them down.....I’m not a person that’s really into love stories or time travel but these books are so different and I love that the author is from Portsmouth and adds sights and places from there into the story.

    I also find how you can read each book separately as a stand-alone clever..... you could read all 3 in any order at all and when you have finished one you want to read or reread the others in no particular order..... very clever!

    Can’t wait for book 4!

    I loved this. By far my favorite of Lloyd's books. The twists are great. I didn't see them coming at all and found myself consuming page after page to find out what could possibly happen next. It's rather emotional too and tugs at your heart strings. The characters are great and the descriptions/world building beautiful. As they are in all of Lloyd's books.
    Adventure. Romance. Angst and suspense. It's all in there. And what an ending!! WOW!
    I highly recommend!
