Ember (The Burn Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 550 ratings

One night changed an entire town.

Ten years ago, I left Hawk Valley.

I never planned to return. Not to the regrets. The bitter memories. The guilt.

My baseball career gave me both the excuse and the money I needed to start over. Then my mom called, and I found myself headed back to the one place I swore I wouldn’t step foot again.

Meeting Delilah wasn’t part of the plan. Falling in love with her adorable son was even less so. And yet, what’s brewing between us is too intense to be denied. The unexpected passion is almost enough to distract us from the crumbling of both our worlds.

But even as the sparks fly, someone is waiting in the shadows to burn it all down.

This book was amazing! I was hooked from the first to last page. Gunner & Delilah were such a sweet couple. Add Tuck into the mix, and it was just perfect.

Gunner is a professional baseball player. Delilah a chef at her parent's Inn. He rents a cottage at the Inn when his Mom asked him to come home. It was the first time in 10 years that he was back in his hometown. Tragedy struck on graduation night, and he refused to go back. When he received the call from his Mom asking him to come home, he knew it was serious.

The book is sweet, heart wrenching with a little bit of suspense. I loved the writing and the characters were great. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

    WOW!
I knew from reading the blurb that something happened that affected an entire town... so I figured I should expect some emotion!
    I DID NOT EXPECT THIS!!!
I didn't expect to fall in love with these characters. But Emma Renshaw had me gasping with shock in the prologue snagged my heart and cracked it all in the prologue. The further I read the more in love I fell with this little town and the broken ones who roam it, the more my heart hurt for these characters that lived with so much pain.

However, she didn't stop there...in this book she took one of those broken hearts and healed it in the best way possible. His path of healing and the lessons of self forgiveness were heartbreaking, powerful and beautiful! I adored Delilah and her son Tucker from the beginning and the way that Gunner just fit so seamlessly with them was beyond perfect. Someone didn't want them to have that perfect little life though.....

For about 2/3 of the book I never saw the twist coming. Matter of fact I was on a WHOLE DIFFERENT planet. I suspected it but wasn't too sure on my suspicions so when it came to light I was still shocked! I really enjoyed the love story but also loved the little suspense that the author added to this one!

I won't lie...number one word in that blurb that had me buying this one was BASEBALL. I can't help it...baseball romances are my kryptonite! I could fill an entire bookshelf with all the baseball romances I've read and loved!

The way this series is written is that you can read any or all of the books. Each book is a different couple and the plot for each book surrounds one heartbreaking night that affects each character in some way. So you can read any of the books without the others but I really recommend reading the entire series to get the full effect of the entire crew.

Delilah and Gunner’s story is so beautiful and I love the dramatic way their story unfolds.

Ember is my first read by Emma Renshaw. I can say this I am going back for more. Ember is emotional, healing and a feel it in your gut read. I loved every moment of this one. Delilah has this amazing heart. I love how she takes in her cousins baby from day one and raises him as her own without a single thought. The bond between Delilah and her son is amazing. She is sweet and protective. Gunner has returned to his hometown after years of being away for reasons and is drawn back to for his mom. Gunner is so sweet and caring with his mom and Delilah's son. I love the chemistry between Gunner and Delilah. They just fit so well together. You feel the love grow between them throughout this whole read. Ember is such a beautiful read that I couldn't put down and stole a little piece of me.

I'm not usually into books about a super celebrity or billionaire and a hometown insta love affair. However, these novels are fictional so sometimes it's fun to dive into the fantasy.....why not, right?
So Delilah and her son Tucker are incredibly sweet, kind, attractive and thoughtful! Hunky Gunnar is a physical specimen, handsome and kind, thoughtful and just plain adorable!
The plotline has a little suspense, a hint of angst (it didn't seem to fit the story), a lot of cuteness, some genuinely emotional moments and a sweet beautful love!
Ember is a very good read and Emma Renshaw has written a delightful fantasy for the readers!

I enjoyed Delilah and Gunner's story. This was a nice book to begin a new series. As you read, you keep changing your mind as to how this entire thing is going to play out. So, there is an air of mystery about this book. I liked the secondary characters as well, and you know at the end that at least some of them are going to get a book as well. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.

It would have been more stars except for the constant, unnecessary "f" word. It was so prevalent that it took away from the story. Loved the story, not the language so I won't be reading anything else by this author.

It's the books that punch you right in the heart within the first few pages that I love the most. I get invested. I get so invested that the real world around me just goes on by and I'm more interested in the the fictional world I'm currently reading. That was how Ember was for me. Wow! Emma did a great job with this book and she made me a new fan. This was the first book of hers I read and I'm here for all the other books to come. If you're looking for a great read, then here it is.

Awww! This book is everything I love about small town romances. Ember was my first read by Emma Renshaw and I absolutely loved it! Romantic, sweet and highly emotional, this slow burn romance captured my heart. Gunner and Delilah’s relationship was so beautiful to watch evolve.

Gunner has been haunted for ten years by a traumatizing event that changed his small town on his high school graduation night. He’s back in town ten years later in his off-season from professional baseball and meets the lovely Delilah, the cook at the inn he’s staying at. They bond so effortlessly, but it’s also they way he always includes her son Tucker that had me melting for him. Those three are the sweetest together. Gunner is truly protective and caring. Tucker is a cute little guy obsessed with baseball and to have his star player in his life makes their interactions even more adorable. Delilah has fears and certain secrets, but together this couple learn to let the past go and embrace the future.

This novel was so romantic, but with a little dose of suspense put in the mix to make this read even more captivating. Emma Renshaw is definitely an author I’ll read more in the near future. Now, I need to dive into the second standalone in the Burn Series, Ignite, as I loved the supporting cast. They’re such a great group of friends and family!
