Amelia

Fourteen years ago, the boy that stole my heart left Savannah, Georgia. Left me.

All I had left of us were the sunkissed memories of young love and a golden sparrow around my neck.

The years passed in a blur of happiness, sadness, and excitement, but one thing was never far from my mind. Him.

Now, I’m back, running from someone I thought I could trust, hiding from my choices, and plowing headfirst into the one that got away.

Grayson

Fourteen years ago, I left the girl of my dreams to serve my country.

We chose to part ways for good. I wanted her to spread her wings and fly.

My service came with heartbreak, injury, and memories I wish I could forget.

The years passed in a haze of war, fighting, pain but that was eased by someone new… until she was gone too, leaving me alone with a young daughter.

My mind always slipped back to the girl I left behind all those years ago… and now?

She’s standing right in front of me.

"This was a knockout story, not only for a debutauthor, but for any author aiming to make their reader swoon, hurt, smile, getfrustrated, and be happy right along with the characters." -

"Sparrow was a good mix of romance and drama makingthis second chance romance a little more complex, it had a great real liferelatable feel to it with Grayson and Mills being very easy to fall in lovewith" -

A sweet reunion for these two with a sprinkle of suspense!

A sweet reunion for these two with a sprinkle of suspense!
I normally find time jumps a bit choppy or hard to connect with, but the way this author did it worked for me. She took the time to show us some of the important milestones in their lives while they were apart and growing up, verses telling us. These two endure quite a bit of tragedy during their time apart, but it makes their reunion that much sweeter if you ask me. We don’t get too much from when they were in love during their teenage years, but what we do get shows that it was so much deeper than puppy love. When they’re reunited, their deep soul connection is just as strong as it was when they were teens. Ultimately, this author made me care for these characters, and that is one of the most important things for me. She made me believe in their love and their deep feelings for each other. Even though this book is shorter than your average read, I feel like I got a well rounded book that was easy to read. Favorite Quote: “Well I hope that long, interesting story is in your rearview mirror for good, because anyone or anything that could lessen the beautiful glow, you have always had around you, doesn’t deserve your presence or energy. -Grayson

Sparrow, the debut novel by Emma Nichole, is one of the rare few books that doesn't stand out as an obvious first book to me when I read it.

The characters, the emotional feels, the progression, all of it works and flows seamlessly together to make a story that will have you LOVING everything about it. Literally everything. You won't be able to help but adore the two main characters, Grayson and Amelia, as well as their friends and family that are included.

Grayson is a strong, sweet Southern gentleman that has been through a lot, a couple times, and has come out stronger and a better man for it in the end. But that's not to say that he doesn't still carry the scars, physically or emotionally, from those journeys through the worst of times. And while their time apart has spanned many, many years, Amelia is still the woman that he compares all others to.

Amelia is a strong, determined Southern woman that is looking to get back on her feet with a fresh start after a tumultuous relationship has left her lost, a little broken, and needing to find herself again....

And, in that process, life--or maybe fate--brings them back together. They are older now, they've grown and experienced many different changes and things in life, but one thing will never change--their off the charts chemistry. When they're together fireworks fly and their alone time is hotttt. They're pretty freaking cute and qualify as relationship goals outside of the bedroom, too, though!

And their supporting cast, including family members, best friends, and an extreme jerk that you easily and believably hate only add to the story, and make this a second chance romance that you can't help but root for.

The writing is strong and the story is one that you wish would keep going and going, not because it's lacking in plot or leaves anything up in the air, but because it's so well written and you get so attached to the characters that you quite simply aren't ready to read 'the end' and say goodbye yet.

This was a knockout story, not only for a debut author, but for any author aiming to make their reader swoon, hurt, smile, get frustrated, and be happy right along with the characters.

I can't wait for Emma's next book. She's an author that is definitely worth following and keeping on your list of author's to keep an eye out for.

And Sparrow is a book that I would recommend to any and everyone.

This was a cute story with an amazing single dad, a sweet second chance and a heroine on the move from her crazy ex. All themes that I love. I like all the characters and plan to read the next book with Case and Nora. I feel like their book will be amazing.

I did find that the story was pretty predictable. Maybe the author Kent it to be they wayZ light in the drama area and focusing more on the connection these two had. Giving it 4 stars because of the face that it was a good plot and the characters were great. 4 stars #2OCCJ

This was my first book by Emma but it will not be my last, that's for sure.

I loved this book. The character were real and relatable. The plot had just enough drama and suspense to keep you wrapped in the book, completely unable to put the book down.

Gray---what can I say about this man except where in the world can I find one? He joined the military suffered loss and injury, returned to Savannah. He was lost until he found someone to help him through but that was short lived. Now, he's a single dad and trying to make it.

Mills---14 years she's wondered about the boy she loved that gave her the sparrow necklace. Now, she's leaving her controlling and abusive husband (we hate him with a passion lol) and returning home to Savanna.

When Gray and Mills cross paths the chemistry and attraction is still there and it's instant. Gray quickly moves things along which is unusual for him but Mills is different. However, her past return to haunt them both and threaten Gray's daughter. Will they be able to make it until the end?

Quick read. Good story line. High school sweethearts reunite after being apart. Wanted a little more chemistry between the characters but overall not a bad book. It does deal with some pretty heavy topics but they were handled pretty well.

A quick read that had some good chemistry, some steam, and good banter. Amelia annoyed me with how she reacted to her ex following her across the country in the sense that she had people she could trust and ask for help and didn't, but I loved everything else about her. Grayson's backstory while very predictable, I liked how honest he was with Amelia about it. He didn't pussyfoot around it like Amelia did. Grayson's daughter, Cadence, was adorable, but was too eloquent for a 4 year old (IMO). This isn't my first book by this author. I read one from a shared universe (Branded?), it was meh; however, I would like to continue this series.

I LOVED this!!! I haven’t read such a strong 5 Star Read in so long! This was simply beautifully written.

Gray and Mills were high school sweethearts. Life takes them in very different directions. Gray serves several years as a Marine. He endures loss like we can’t imagine. He has an adorable daughter, Cadence, that is his light at the end of the tunnel. Amelia marries a highly controlling and abusive man. Fourteen years later she comes back home for a fresh start.

I loved the past scene chapters. They were done perfectly. You get enough of their lives from high school to now to know what they have suffered but you aren’t drowning in it. It’s enough to see the strength they’ve both gained from what they have endured.

I also loved their BFFs Case and Nora! I’ve already one clicked their story and I’m sure they are going to be just as explosive.

I thank this talented author for a beautiful love story filled with romance, history, passion, hot sex scenes, and a fantastic HEA!!!

Wow absolutely loved this story. Gray and Mills are young sweethearts who leave each other for different paths but have never forgotten. Each of them deals with terrible tragedy and loss, but it would seem that fate brings them back to each other, but what will get in their path? Will they survive?
Loved this read, great story, plot and characters. I read some pretty mixed reviews but glad I got my own perspective because I loved it. Lots of angst, twists, and hurt but also a love transcendent which shines through in the end. Highly recommend

2.0 out of 5 stars Second Chance Love after heroine's abusive relationship and hero's four deployments
Reviewed in Germany on November 27, 2019
I am still waiting for a book where the heroine who left a bad relationship talks to her friends or people who might be able to help her. But no, they always want to be brave and solve the problems by themselves. Amelia is extremely stupid, she had the possibility to confide to Chass and thus secur the help of a policeman, talk to her attorney and get a restraining order, talk to her boyfriend, who was ex-military, or not enter her house when noticing the securitiy system had been breached and call the police.

Both MCs are superficial weak characters with not a lot of personality.

4.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate second chance romance for Gray and Amelia!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 22, 2020
This is the ultimate second chance romance book. I feel like some)ake place only a couple of years between when the couple broke up and when they remeet but it takes FOURTEEN years in Sparrow for Gray and Ablia to reconnect.

Grayson and Amelia are high school sweethearts, but due to circumstances they break up at when Grayson graduates and joins the army and Amelia moves with her dad from their hometown of Savannah. He gives her a sparrow necklace as a parting gift, which Amelia treasures as she goes through her late teens and twenties, always remembering Gray.

Both go on to live their lives and have relationships, but go through their own trauma and abuse. When Amelia moves back to Savannah fourteen years later, she bumps into Gray and they start to rebuild their friendship and relationship from all those years ago. However, things are different for both of them now, and they must decide if they can still be the couple they once were and if they both feel the same way, especially when Amelia's past is still lurking round every corner...

I really enjoyed Sparrow, it was the perfect second chance romance, with some sweet moments, some really hot moments and some drama too! I can't wait to read Phoenix next!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Reviewed in Canada on November 16, 2019
This story was so disappointing. The characters were very superficial with absolutely no depth. Amelia and Gray are each other's first love. They get separated for a period of 14 years and then get reunited. Their pasts are touched upon briefly during major life changes and then are brushed aside. Frankly, the whole plot line surrounding Amelia's husband was just ridiculous. There were so many steps she could have taken to help herself and she did none of them. Go to the police, tell her attorney, tell Gray or even Case, who is a police officer and, the easiest of all, lose the cellphone. On another note, in this day of instant communication, it would not have been difficult for the hero and heroine to have stayed in contact over the years particularly when they thought of each other so frequently. Save yourself some time and money and give this book a pass.
