Every Shade Of Winter (Winterville Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,624 ratings

A runaway bride, a gruff mountain man who doesn’t do relationships, and a complication that rocks them both…

Every woman in town has a crush on North Winter. Every woman except Amber Stone, that is.

The muscled tree surgeon is her best friend. Her co-worker. Her shoulder to cry on. And everybody knows you don’t mess up a friendship with desire.

Maybe that’s why she doesn’t see him as a potential lover until she runs away from her cheating fiancé on their wedding day, and into his strong, safe arms.

For the past ten years North has been Amber’s friend and protector. But now he’s imagining himself as something more.

He may not be great at relationships – or showing his emotions, for that matter – but for her he’s willing to try.

Then Amber discovers a secret. One that will change the way North looks at her if he finds out.

He’s always been the one person she can confide in. Her safe harbor in a storm.

But now she’s afraid she could lose him for good...

Carrie Elks writes contemporary romance with a sizzling edge. Her first book, Fix You, has been translated into eight languages and made a surprise appearance on Big Brother in Brazil. Luckily for her, it wasn’t voted out. Carrie lives with her husband, two lovely children and a larger-than-life black pug called Plato. When she isn’t writing or reading, she can be found baking, drinking an occasional (!) glass of wine, or chatting on social media.

Swoon worthy small town romance, gives all the feels
“I don’t think I could go anywhere even if I tried.” “Then don’t try” ❄️ If you’re looking for a swoon worthy small town romance look no further than this. This friends to lovers romance hits a little bump in the road when its ready to finally takeoff but the journey is so worth it. Amber and Winter have been best friend forever, so its natural that he would be the that helps her escape from her wedding. Amber life’s been turned upside down, what she thought would be her wedding day turned disastrous and she ran to the one person that has always felt like home. North has always been there for Amber through everything, even biting his tongue when she marries a guy not worth her time, but now that he has a chance to make her his he won’t mess it up. That is until the most unexpected news happens and its time to really show Amber the type of man he is and how he won’t be another disappointment in her life. I loved this friends to lovers story. These two have been a long time coming even if they didn’t realize it at first. Then when they get the shocking news they weren’t prepared for North steps up the most and shows Amber she won’t ever be alone and they belong together. North is really the best book boyfriend and I would want him in my corner too. The ups and downs to turn this relationship into something more gave them such a foundation for their future. Ugh, they made my heart cry happy tears.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS—Soooo.. this book has my least favorite trope- friends to lovers and the hero is not the father in her unexpected pregnancy. These are two things that would normally make me want nothing to do with this book. But I am SO glad that I read this because this book is a beautiful story of two people who finally realize that they were always meant to be together.

I absolutely LOVED North. I know some readers didn’t like him in the previous books (you don’t have to read those to enjoy this), but he may be one of my favorite book boyfriends. The sexual tension between North and Amber was insane. It totally had me glued to this book. Once he realized that he’s always been in love with Amber, his love and devotion to her never wavered for a second—even with her being pregnant with her ex’s baby. You’d think that would be a pretty big buzz kill for their relationship, but it just made him love her even more. The sex scenes were so emotional, intense and so well written.

My only complaint about this book was that I felt Amber was a little whiny and “woe as me” about her pregnancy and situation. But I did like her, and I loved this story so much. I absolutely adored the way everything played out in the end. It made my heart happy. This kind of story is the reason why I’m addicted to romance.

North Winter is hot enough to melt the polar ice caps. Never mind the underwear of his favorite leading lady—simply by looking at her.
He is the entire package. Sweet, sexy, warm, dirty, and protective. I loved her independence and strength.
The friends to lovers aspect of this book was well done. I enjoyed how North handled himself. How he treated Amber. The man he was every step of the way.
Another well written, entertaining story for the series.
    They just keep getting better!

The writing was pretty good. Nothing against the book or author. My problem was with Shaun and the FMC.. and I guess the author writing about him ? Idk.. but I know this crap happens in really life but it was the most infuriating thing. It’s not that he didn’t want to be a father. It was everyone else just like, are you sure? She needs you , blah blah. The F?! No. A father is not blood. It does not matter. He was not there, did not want to be. Why was anyone not just saying “that’s fine, She’s better off and sign over your rights?” But it’s a book so I’ll let it pass 🤣 but this crap is in really life and makes zero sense to me. Overall, the book had a good plot and wasn’t horribly written, it just did sit right with me.

The feelings blossoming between them was hard to ignore. But would Amber pursue anything after walking away from the man she was to marry after he cheated on her. North had picked up the pieces, even when she found out she was pregnant by her ex. This is crazy but a fun ride.

I was so looking forward to Norths story, and it is a fabulous one. He and Amber have been BFFs for so long, when she runs away from her wedding to douchebag Shaun, North is there to catch her. Neither admit their feelings for each other go further than friendship, but it’s only a matter of time. Until a spanner is thrown in the works, and then the douchebag reappears.

This is a fabulous return to Winterville, absolutely loved every word. I need another instalment now please. Maybe Norths brother returns from London and hooks up with Kelly? Cause you just know that is a story waiting to be told!

Genius writing once again from Carrie Elks

This was just the story I needed! I’m a sucker for a friends to lovers romance and when you combine that with a single mum then it’s even better. Loved the whole cast of characters and will definitely be reading more in this series.

This is the first time reading Carrie Elks, I first saw this book on TikTok, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The chemistry between North and Amber, started off with being friends.
Then she ran out of her wedding after a shocking revelation from her groom to be,. Then it’s a new beginning for both Amber and North.
A very romantic book, a bit of spice.

North and Amber were meant to be together from the very start, everyone knew it it just took them a while longer to figure it out. She almost married someone else but luckily came to her senses last minute when she found out he wasn’t into the idea of marriage., North and Amber are best friends and it was lovely to follow their journey together in to becoming more than that and especially when he became her everything when she received life changing news. North really is a good man just as the rest of the Winter family was.
