    My heart is full from Evie’s story. I experienced every up and down with her through this honest, heart-felt and compelling journey. When her mother is diagnosed with an aggressive dementia, Evie changes the direction of her life and becomes her caregiver. The woman that is her hero and best friend, changes before her eyes as she loses her memory. Everything centers around her mother, especially after her father walks away because he can’t watch the love of his life fade away. When Evie meets Butler, she finds joy and happiness again, something she had lost. But with this comes overwhelming guilt that she is taking time away from her mother. The struggle to allow herself to have a life away from her mother is real and honest. Her trust that anyone can accept her reality is low. I did get frustrated that she wasn’t honest with Butler but I understood her fears. He truly is the right guy at the right time for her if only she can accept that. I cried, I laughed, as I took this journey with Evie.

    I gave this book 4 stars because the writing was phenomenal! The story, while good, was not really a typical romance. I got how the fmc was her moms caregiver, so perhaps this story should have been characterized as realistic fiction. Butler was the sweetest and best part of the book, but the book was sad. Maybe it should have been devided into Evie and Mom, then Evie and Butler. By lying to Butler Evie swiftly felt like a martyr, not a good feeling for a romance.

    What a beautiful relationship Evie had with her mom. Seeing how their special bond developed as she grew up pulled at my heart strings. I can relate to Evie’s story because my mom has dementia. It’s horrible disease that steals your love one slowly away from you. I’m glad Evie found her happy nerd. Butler was absolutely perfect. They were perfect together. This whole book will fill your heart with joy, sadness, hope and lots of love. Evie Interrupted gets two thumbs up from me!

    This is a love story, but I’m not sure it’s of the romantic variety. This book focuses mostly on Evie and the care she has to give her mom, who is suffering through late stage dementia. We see the lengths she has to go to on a daily basis and glimpses of what her life with her mom was like prior to the disease. It’s such a sweet and heartbreaking journey for Evie, and I felt her love and grief every step of the way. I honestly wanted to give her a hug and tell her everything was going to be ok.

    While there is a romantic love in this book for Butler, it felt like a subplot with him as a supporting character rather than a main character to me. He was pretty much too good to be true when they were together, and there was a feeling of insta-love because it just didn’t seem like they spent enough time together or talked about their lives (especially with how much Evie was lying about) for their connection to feel natural or real to me. He was knight in shining armor perfect to the point he didn’t seem believable.

    Five stars for the story of Evie and her mom, three stars for the parts when Evie is with Butler, so I’ll settle in the middle at four.

    Dementia is so hard on family and she wrote it down just perfect, it's like I was living it again. I took care of my mother in law for nine years and she had a big family and everyone just disappear. She got so disappointed that she would get mad at me. It was her kids . When she wrote how she was feeling I was like she was writing about us. The Author did great must read.

I hope when people read this one of the things they get from it is, no matter how much it hurts or how hard it is, if you stop showing up for a loved one because of a disease, you also stop being there for the person/people who are carrying for them.
