M. B. Feeney is an army brat who finally settled down in Birmingham, UK with her other half, two kids and a dog. She often procrastinates by listening to music of all genres and trying to get ‘just one more paragraph’ written on whichever WIP is open; she is also a serious doodler and chocoholic. Writing has been her one true love ever since she could spell, and publishing is the final culmination of her hard work and ambition.

Her publishing career began with two novellas, and she currently has multiple projects under way, in the hopes that her portfolio of what have been described as “everyday love stories for everyday people” will continue to grow. Always having something on the go can often lead to block which eventually gets dissolved by good music and an even better book.

Her main reason for writing is to not only give her readers enjoyment, but also to create a story and characters that stay with readers long after the book is finished, and possibly make someone stop and think “what if … ”

    This a review of all four novellas in The Exchange Series.

    Dear Diary -
    This short story is about Holly, a British exchange student who goes to live with Tyler and his family in the States for six weeks. I like the format of it being diary entries, taking me back to my teenage years!

    The majority of the story was predictable - girls meets guy (s!), girl is attracted to guys, girl becomes confused. But, it flowed really well and had me wanting to keep reading. The ending I didn't quite predict though!

    The relationship between all of the characters was believable and worked with the storyline. A great bed time read. 5*

    Reluctance -
    This short story focuses mainly around Aiden who we meet in the first book of The Exchange Series; though I do think it could be read as a standalone but probably best to start with Dear Diary for some background.

    The focus is on Aiden writing a journal as prompted by his guidance counselor, and we discover the heartbreak he endured from his former girlfriend,  and why his relationship with Tyler is how it is. Leading to his relationship with Holly.

    Once again, a great quick read with believable relationships and characters you can relate to. 5*

    Repentance -
    In Repentance we are met with Tyler's story, who we first stumbled upon in Dear Diary. I have to admit, after what happened in DD I took a dislike to him, but I grew to like him again in this. Since college he had matured, and upon meeting Anna he realised the true meaning of love.

    Repentance is focused on emails between Tyler and Anna, with the odd letter to Aiden, and even Holly thrown in too. I liked the different format to this story compared to the others, though I think it ended too abruptly before the epilogue.

    Like the others, a great short read that continues the series well. 4.5*

    Dear John -
    In this final installment of The Exchange Series, we meet Ellie - the offspring of Holly and Aiden back in Dear Diary. Though a culmination of the series, it could still be read as a standalone; but the rest of the series gives background of course and builds the characters up.

    Ellie, a student in the States, is paired up with John, a UK college student, for their final year project of writing to each other as penpals. They get to know each other via a series of letters, until they finally end up meeting and sealing their fate...

    It was a lovely end to the series, with it finishing in a similar way to how it began, many years ago with the same family. 5*

    If I haven't said it, let me say it now! I love M.B. Feeney and I love The Exchange Series! M.B.'s work is clever and quick and absolutely on point. The packaging of this series is awesome and I am so happy to have read it.

    A collection of 4 works, this set gives the reader a little bit of everything.

    Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed!

    This is a review for all four of the books in this series. This is a great series and I really enjoyed it! I loved the different ways the author used the "exchange" between the different characters.

    1) Dear Diary

    Holly is 17 years old and is headed from her home in the UK to go live in the US for 6 weeks as part of an exchange.

    But when she gets there she discovers that the King family has two very handsome sons, one in college, Tyler, and one in grade 12, Aiden, with her. The two boys are extremely different and will she find herself attracted to one or the other?

    I really enjoyed this story.

    I really liked Holly and everything that she went through as a stranger in a new country and trying to fit in the best she could. She was at such odds within herself for which of the brothers she was attracted to and definitely had a dilemma.

    I liked seeing the differences in the two brothers although I can't say much as I really don't want to give any spoilers!!

    Great read!

    2) Reluctance

    Aiden King has a few issues and most seem to be related to his brother, Tyler. When the guidance counselor, Ms.Jones, recommends Aiden writing in a journal after his split with Jessie Evans will he be able to sort out how he feels.

    Will Aiden be able to get himself together for what life has in store for him?

    I really like this look into Aiden and what it was like being in his brother's shadow. I felt truly bad for him with what he went through with Jessie as the actions blew my mind.

    I liked his relationship with Holly and how both were trying to fit in and figure out their respective futures.

    I am really enjoying these books and looking forward to what's coming next!

    3) Repentance

    Tyler King is on vacation in Florida when he meets Anna, who works for an airline company. They spend two weeks together and neither can believe how they have fallen for the other.

    When Tyler starts his new job in Arizona they two continue to talk and Tyler realizes he needs to make amends for his past before being ready for his future.

    This was a great story about coming to terms with the mistakes of your past and owning up to everything you've done. I really liked how much Tyler grew up in this book and how he knew that he was ready to move forward.

    Anna was a great influence on Tyler and I look forward to seeing what happens with the two of them!

    4) Dear John

    Ellie King is in grade 12 and is starting her senior year. Her English professor has an assignment that involves writing letters to students in Brighton, UK and Ellie is paired up with John Davids.

    Soon Ellie finds her friendship with John growing and with Ellie planning on going to school in the UK after she graduates the two continue their friendship.

    Will Ellie and John be able to move their friendship into something more when she goes to London or do they discover they are better off as friends?I

    This was such a great ending book for this series.

    I loved the circle that has Ellie headed back to England where her mother began. I also loved the writing of letters and I wish we did more of that these days as we rely so much on technology.

    I liked how John and Ellie really started their friendship with no expectations and the end of the book!

    The Exchange Series is a compilation of four previously written short stories from M.B. Feeney including Dear Diary, Reluctance, Repentance and Dear John. I wasn't sure what to think at first as a majority of the books are written like diaries and I wasn't sure how that would work for entire stories but the way they are written and brought across to the readers is excellent.

    I loved how the first three books were from the POV of three of the main characters introduced in the first book Holly, Aiden and Tyler. Each gave a more in depth look into the characters and answered questions that you may have thought of from the first story. I have to admit I enjoyed Reluctance the most which was from the POV of Aiden. I enjoyed his character in the very first book and wanted to see more into his character and the second book did just that.

    The last story in the collection was actually set much further into the future and was from the perspective of one of the other stories children. In a way the stories went in a full circle and this was perfect for me as a reader! A very strong 4 out of 5 stars for author M.B. Feeney!

    I read all these novellas before this collection came out and absolutely loved them. The quirky way its written with the diary entries makes it fun to read.
    My personal favorite is the second novella where we get to know more about Aiden.

    It's been a long time since I've read something so refreshing and true to life.

    M.B. Feeney managed to get across what each of the characters was about, without making them rude and crude. All too often these days, teenagers are portrayed as smoking, swearing and acting like horny rabbits (sorry, that's the only way I can describe it) but how she wrote the characters here felt real. You could imagine them in these situations and making these choices.

    Another fantastic read by M.B. Feeney and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

    I just love how unique this series is. From the first novella to the last had me gripped. I wanted to know what was going to happen next and what had happened in the past with the King brothers.
    The end novella Dear John was a perfect way to end this series. If you want something unique and a nice easy read, this is your book!

    I've devoured this series of books in no time at all. They're so easy to dip in and out of, although I spent more time in them! Characters are fab, the layering of each story, developing on someone or something mentioned earlier was also a great touch and well done. Perfect easy read, and one j thoroughly enjoyed!
