About the author

Like his character, Frank Rozzani, Don was born in Syracuse, New York to first generation Italian American parents. He’s an avid reader. Some of my favorite authors are Harlan Coben, David Morrell, Stephen King, Jonathan Kellerman, John Grisham, and Hugh Howey. His favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird.
He started writing as a way to combat the long hours of travel and numerous hotel stays that are part of the ‘glamorous’ world of corporate life. He use writing as a therapeutic outlet to combat his homesickness.
His first published book, Frankly Speaking, rose to the top of the Amazon charts. It was the first in a series of books focused on the character, Frank Rozzani, a Florida private detective. The series is a throwback to the days of pulp detective novels with a tip of the hat to Jim Rockford from the 70’s television show, The Rockford Files. He's also released a collection of short stories called Random Tales that is available for your Kindle or in paperback.
Also, look for his non-fiction book, The Ultimate Guide For Independently Published Authors: Tips for improving quality and selling your work, now available on Amazon.com as an eBook or in paperback
He moved to Jacksonville, Florida 22 years ago where he currently lives with his wife, daughter, and three dogs.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2018This was a fun book to read with its mystery and continuous changes. The title and cover work well with the storyline (baseball), yet it's not about baseball per se. Without revealing too much, toward the end, I wondered where all his trips would end and when would he be satisfied. Hang onto your hat, it does have a surprise ending. This one is a page-turner.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2018If you enjoy stories that employ overlapping timelines, you’re going to love Extra Innings.
Joe McLean is eking out a life as a CPA for a company he detests and going home every night to an empty house after a divorce. Most of his enjoyment comes from meeting his older brother for dinner or visiting the old baseball stadium he’s known since childhood. When the stadium is set to be torn down, Joe wangles things to purchase a stadium seat from the company doing the demolition. What he imagines as a nice piece of memorabilia, turns out to be much more—the seat can transport him through time.
Suddenly, he’s able to go back and alter the road bumps in his life—the job, his divorce, his family life. But flirting with time does not always bring the desired results. Change one aspect of the past, and the ripples can play havoc with the future. It’s a hard lesson to learn and Joe is soon moving through several timelines, past and present, doing clean-up duty as decision after decision has him hopping timelines to achieve his image of the perfect life.
I’m not quite sure how the author managed to keep all the details and timelines straight in his head, but he did an amazing job of weaving them into an intricate web. This is a fascinating look at time travel. There’s danger, double crosses, corporate mergers, mob deals—you name it, and you’ll find it woven within this complex puzzle of a novel. The main character is constantly jumping through hoops of his own devising. He’s an everyday guy who just wants the best out of life. The ending was a surprise, and I have to single out the section with Jabba/Kenny as one of my favorites in the book. The descriptions were laugh-out-loud funny. An engrossing read!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2020Extra Innings by Don Massenzio is one man's search to find more meaning in his simple life. The Langerton Chiefs, a AAA baseball team for the New York Yankees, have always been a significant part of Joe McLean's life. He and his brother Mike have been lifelong fans. When the city council decides to tear down Maxwell Stadium to build a more modern facility, Joe decides that he wants a piece of the old stadium as a means of remembering his beloved Chiefs.
This meat of this story is not about baseball, however. When McLean purchases an old wooden stadium seat, he finds that he can travel in time when he goes to sleep in it. He understands that he is moving in time and recognizes the critical people in his life from days gone by, but each time Joe ends in a new period, he discovers positives and negatives. The problem is that no timeline seems to be perfect and continually finds things that are imperfect about his life that he goes about trying to fix before moving to another timeline.
It was a bit tedious trying to keep track of all of the timelines, but I found this to be an enjoyable read overall.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2019A creative story of time travel that was gripping with its ever-changing twists and turns in the storyline. Joe McLean is a lonely soul whose only joy in life is cheering for his beloved baseball team. Strange things happen when Joe purchases a stadium seat as a memento as his baseball team’s stadium is set to be demolished. What Joe doesn’t know is that this seat is a passageway to travel in time.
This was a fascinating premise that kept me riveted to find out how Joe will change his life each time he traveled in time. Would he be able to put things in order in his life, regain Beth, his ex-wife’s love again, find a way to keep his parents alive longer, help his brother become financially secure, and get his business in order? Can we ever turn back time and correct our mistakes?
I highly recommend this book if you want answers to these questions and love time travel plots. This was an enjoyable read! The author did a commendable joy of keeping each log of time travel straight.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2018When I first saw the cover for this book, not being a sports fan, I nearly passed on it. But when I read the blurb and saw it was about time travel, it became a must-read for me.
I immediately wanted to root for Joe. With a failed marriage, a thankless, dead-end job, and not much to go home to at night, the guy deserves some happiness. Upon realizing the seat he purchased from a baseball stadium that held wonderful memories for him is a time machine, endless possibilities are at his fingertips. If you could travel back in time, what would you change about your life? Anything? Would those changes have unexpected ripple effects?
Joe encounters several surprises along the way, and I laughed out loud at some situations he found himself in. Extra Innings is a fabulous, enjoyable story with several layers to include family drama, organized crime, and corporate mergers, and I was captivated throughout. The ending isn't something I expected, but will leave you thinking about it for days after.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2018An outstanding story of a man who tries to better his life by traveling back in time. It has some wonderful pondering about things that are inevitable in life, and out of our control. There are a few neat twists and turns, and I particularly enjoyed the Twilight Zone style ending. Great story, Mr. Massenzio.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2018How Don can keep all the details of the different timelines straight in his head, I don't know. The way the different timelines overlap is amazing. It makes a person think about "What if?"
I was a Beta Reader & found this a bit different from Don's usual mystery series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't worry about the baseball theme; the story will knock your socks off.
When I first saw that this book had a 'baseball' theme, my heart dropped. Being British, I know little, if anything, about baseball. However, the 'time-travel' theme kept me interested, and I opened up my kindle copy and started reading it.
Although the story is centred around a 'baseball' theme and plays an essential part in the whole book, my worries of not finishing the book soon disappeared as I became hooked by what was going on in the plot, and what barriers Joe, the main character had to overcome. Being dyslexic, I find many plots too challenging to follow, but Massenzio wrote this book in a natural smooth way that never once had me querying what was going on. Yes, I had lots of questions while reading the book, but they were all answered in the story by the time I got to the ending.
Joe was a loveable character, as was his brother Mike, and I could visually see them in a movie version of this book. The chapters were a perfect length, and the whole thing flowed perfectly while reading.
I loved all the trips Joe took back to his past. It was great knowing the exact dates he was travelling back too, although the author does not always give the exact dates.
The book certainly got me thinking about what would happen if being able to travel back to the past to alter your timeline. I always thought it impossible to do (even in stories) and still question plots and say, 'that's not possible.' However, reading this book has shown me something different and that it is possible to do in fiction. For me, that showcases how excellent the writing is in this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Baseball fans will love this
this story brought me back to a time when I lived in New York and I was introduced to baseball. Good story if a little far fetched at times
