- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2020I've read more than half of the authour's work and until now I've always enjoyed it. Solid writing, fast paced and a world view that embraced diversity and respect for other cultures.
Reading this short story it felt like who replaced him with an ethnocentric colonialist happy to murder and steal from those outside their own culture. You could have replaced the protagonists with European colonists who started to murder and steal from people up and down the Americas... with no sense that it was murder and theft because they were doing it to people defined as "others".
It isn't disturbing because the Elves (culturally superior in their minds) murder and steal with a sense of entitlement. It is disturbing because the narrative voice considers murdering and robbing other Elves evil but when Elves murder and steal from people outside their culture it is portrayed as a public service.
I hope not to see this again.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2019Too short, which I didn't notice in my glee for a new story in the Changeling Blood Universe. Not enough story for me to be invested in new characters. That said I like the setting very much and I developed an affection for the true victim of the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting addition to the changeling world.
A strong story that focuses on a young Talus. I just finished the Changeling trilogy and I found this final addition to be very entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am a dedicated fan!
Well, i have just finished reading (having bought) every single novel by Glynn Stewart available on Amazon.
I can only say that none of these have been a disappointment to me. I heartily commend every one of them to you, my fellow readers of the sci-fi / fantasy genres.
If you are not familiar with Mr. Stewart's work, may i have the temerity to suggest that either the Starship's Mage or the Duchy of Terra series offer a great introduction to the oeuvre.
Enjoy them all! I certainly did!

4.0 out of 5 stars Short, lots of action
I read this to take my mind off something bad. Fairly standard UF where Irish mythology meets a dragon and betrayal under the New York streets. Good for a half hour of escapism.
