It kind of messes with your head when you’re the last of your brothers to fall, wondering when your turn will be. I don’t begrudge them happiness; I just can’t help but wonder when my time will come. I’ve always been the steady one, the one that keeps the peace and keeps us moving forward. It’s come in handy more times than I can count.

When Iris comes out of nowhere it’s clear that she needs me to be that constant in her life too. I’m glad to do it, even when her brother seems to want to keep us apart. I get it. He loves her and is protective of her.

He has no idea that she brings those same feelings out in me and nothing, not even him, is going to stand in the way of making her mine. Either he gets on board or he’s going to lose her, but I win no matter what.

IRIS

I make a horrible first impression often. It’s one of my many charms. I go to the opening of an art exhibit with the hope that there’s a job on the other side of it. What I wasn’t expecting was Gavin. I don’t think anyone could be prepared for a man like him.

How is it that I meet someone who makes my heart flip in my chest when at my worst? It’s a skill, I guess. He doesn’t seem to notice all the ways I can’t keep my life together; in fact, he seems to be content with helping me. Maybe he has a savior complex or something?

It doesn’t really matter. When he tells me I’m his, I believe him. If only my brother could understand that I’m not a little girl anymore and my heart is mine to do with as I please. If I want to give it away to a sexy drummer covered in tattoos, that’s my business. I just hope he doesn’t try and get in the way because I don’t want to have to choose, but I will. I hope the men in my life know that I’ll always follow my heart, even if it gets broken in the end.

From the first moment he knew that Iris was his and it was fun to following their cute journey filled with heartfelt moments and a heat level that will make you crave more. There’s drama from her brother that makes his character unlikable but he redeems himself toward the end with the help of Amelia. It’s always great coming back to this series and this newest addition did not disappoint.

    Well, if you liked the previous book, you'll like this one. It's almost the same. Except this one is about Suburban Outcasts (SO) drummer Gavin and his lady love Iris. The angst is her brother Juniper, who has a stick up his behind. We don't know why, he just does. And he doesn't like Gavin - whom he hadn't even met. This causes a rift between Iris and Juniper. With the help of 'Mama Amelia', Juniper and Iris are reconciled, he goes to Thanksgiving dinner with The Family, and all is well. Of course, Gavin asks Iris to marry him, she says yes, and they're off to a private island in the Philippines for a destination wedding. Well, that's not the end of the goings-on in this book, but I'm just too worn out to go any further. Just read it for yourself. If you're like me, you started the series and you feel like you must finish. Never give up! I'm not. My next stop is the Higgins Security series. Happy reading!

    I read the first of her Sweetwater Valley books and I have been waiting for the next one. In the meantime, I have been reading her other series. Fortunately while the books are interconnected, they can also be read as a standalone. However, it does help with continuity to read them in order. Gavin’s story is the last one in the Suburban Outcasts Series. He is the last man standing in terms of finding HIS ONE. The story starts with Gavin reflecting on the state of his love life and then almost immediately he meets Iris and knows he has met the woman of his dreams. She is quirky and cute and HIS. Both characters are interesting and while there is no build up to their insta love, you root for the couple. They have some opposition to their HEA but they are able to overcome. Ms. Davis is a phenomenal writer and I eagerly await her next book.
