One woman. An alien war. And a world desperate for a hero . . .
Lianndra starts her day on a beautiful beach and ends it in a cage.
Her life descends into darkness. Vicious reptiles twist her into something—inhuman. The mutations designed to help her swing through a deadly jungle on a faraway planet horrify Lianndra. Yet they are nothing compared to what is unleashed within her brain.
Lianndra’s anguish turns to hope when her new abilities empower her to free enslaved soldiers. Then one night, she stumbles across a familiar face . . .
Together they join a small band of humans determined to fight their way to freedom. Unfortunately, their cruel masters are in hot pursuit.
Their only hope are ancient creatures straight out of the pages of Earth’s mythology. Can she convince them to help? Or will she die trying?
If you love a perfectly paced space adventure with engaging characters, FREEFORCE is a must read!

About the author

AUTHOR AND ARTIST, L.E. HORN, describes her childhood as, “Rich in experiential learning,” since her family moved every year or so until she was a teenager. Stability relied upon immersing herself in nature and the literary works of her favorite authors. Tapping into a vivid imagination, she wrote many novels as a youngster. Even today, she remains fascinated by our often unconscious connections to the natural world; she particularly loves to explore the qualities we believe distinguish us from the creatures whose planet we share.
L.E. Horn shares her country home in Manitoba, Canada, with her husband and several other interesting species that, as she puts it, “Inspire me by pointing out what should be obvious on a minute-by-minute basis. The challenge keeps me both happy and humble.”

I discovered the author last year with her Nightshifter series and absolutely fell in love with the main characters, especially Liam, but she had a number of really interesting characters. But she also had a strong storyline that worked its way through the 5 books with each book completing a specific arc, while continuing the big story. I loved her mix of fantasy and science fiction and making that part of the story seem ALMOST plausible. I loved that series and really hope it makes its way to more readers. This series seems more science fiction on the surface because aliens are involved and by the second half of the book, the story moves to an alien planet. But there is definitely an element of fantasy here with creatures that seem straight from the pages of your stereotypical fantasy novel. Eh, I've given up trying to classify a story as one or the other. Either way, I love L.E. Horn's wonderful imagination backed up with great characters and very solid writing. Even though the plot lines may not be the most original, there is something about her writing that draws me into the story and makes me want to read until the very end. I also like that while there are multiple books to tell the whole story, she basically releases the entire series in one go, so you don't have to wait months or even years for the next installment (yes, I'm diving straight into the second book). While there are two main characters, Lianndra and Michael, other supporting characters are starting to reveal themselves and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all falls out by the end. But I know who I'm already rooting for! If you're looking for a solid new series about an alien race enslaving and genetically manipulating humans to fight their own wars, you should definitely check this out.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2023Format: KindleThis one was totally different than any alien book I have ever read... But it was nothing short of amazingly wrote... At first it kinda threw me when L.E Wrote in different point of views but only because the names of the Aliens I was having a hard time keeping them straight, but I quickly adapted and by the end I actually really loved that not only was we seeing through the main twos eyes but also some Alien point of views also.. And everything made so much more sense, so L.E knew what she was doing...I can't help but think of a SiFi movie or tv show when reading this and with all the different species of aliens are described it was very interesting... I don't want to give anything away so just grab a copy and read it... You will love it..
Received this book free for my honest opinion it in now way influenced my review.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2021Format: KindleI received a copy of this book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
This book was a great, fun read. The characters were believable and drew me into their lives immediately. I enjoyed the interaction of Lianndra and Michael as they met and were drawn to each other so quickly. It also was delightful to follow Lianndra’s qualms about the differences between them. Her world changed within moments.
Then the action took a turn. Suddenly it was more about their survival and concern for each other. Ms Horn’s world takes on a unique perspective with descriptions that were beyond my imagination. However, she placed me right there with our struggling protagonists.
Many characters were different in their makeup and perspectives but they did not leave me behind. I connected with them even though they were not of my world. It was easy to immerse myself in their lives and adventures. I definitely encourage Si Fi, fantasy, and adventure readers to grab this book and the subsequent books. You will enjoy them. For those of you not into fantasy yet, try it, you might find you enjoy it, too.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2020Format: KindleThis is my first time reading this author and wow, I wasn’t sure what to expect even after reading the blurb but I’m certainly glad I read this book. It’s the beginning of a series that promises to be brilliant if this first book is anything to go by. The author has created a well-developed world, alien race and characters. This plot moves along at a nice pace and is a definite page-turner.
