Craig is a million-selling author of science fiction (post-apocalyptic, military sci-fi, and space opera), thrillers, and non-fiction.

Craig retired from the Marine Corps after a long career in the military intelligence community, having worked with most of the U.S. Government's three-letter agencies. After a short stint with physical security, Craig went to law school, graduated summa cum laude, and went into business consulting. From intelligence, to the inner workings of company board rooms, to on-the-ground leadership, Craig has seen it firsthand.

His books are an extension of his experience, putting the trials and tribulations of a fast-paced world into your hands. Whether in Science Fiction, Thrillers, Fantasy, or even his Non-Fiction, you'll find consistent themes of justice and doing right by those who are counting on their leaders. Leadership is a service, not a crown to lord over others.

No matter where Craig went, he always had a book with him. Thanks to 21st Century technology, He now has thousands of books at his fingertips and with him wherever he goes. How many books would he have read on deployments had he not had to carry a physical book?

No one is encumbered like that now. Craig loves the works of Robert Heinlein, Anne McCaffrey, Andre Norton, JRR Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, and so many more. He has been compared to Andre Norton and that is humbling - she was an incredible author with a huge list of novels to her credit. With every new book, Craig aspires to live up to those that you, the readers, have compared him to.

Through a bizarre series of events, Craig ended up in Fairbanks, Alaska. He never expected to retire to a place where golf courses are only open for four months out of the year. But that's the way it is. It is off the beaten path. He and his wife get to watch the northern lights from their driveway. Their dog has lots of room to run, just until temperatures reach fifty below zero. They have from three and a half hours of daylight in the winter to twenty-four hours in the summer.

It’s all part of the give and take of life. If they didn’t have those extremes, then everyone would live in the sub-arctic.

I love stories where telepathic communication exists. This series has the most creatures/ characters who are able to communicate that I have ever read. Fabulous world building. I have really enjoyed how each one is so fully developed and I want to know every one of them. If you are owned by a cat you will love that they are a central part of this fabulous tale. Part apocalyptic, part Science Fiction, part re-emergent culture. Telepathy, implant communication with AI, sentient animals, space ships. To Craig Martelle this is not enough. You have left me hanging. I want to know what happens to these characters next

The companions are back again, the evil androids are causing trouble on the space station and corrupting the ones Holly has reprogrammed. The plan is to go through each and every nook and cranny and either remove the problem or seal the section and contain it, like the mutated electric clones. Refining the process, they have Holly analyse and pinpoint the problem sections in an effort to work smarter, not harder. One such is a metal beast with acid for blood lurking in the bowels of the ship. The wolfoids are injured and require a visit to the medical bay where Treetis finds the evil androids have been cloning hillcats. They are nearly ready and can't be allowed to fall into the wrong hands so he rescues them and instructs them on their true heritage. They come in handy while searching the forests for some cloned lizard men with power grabbing intentions, that won't do in the new order created by the cats. It's a near thing with the final battle, the realization that some of the habitat levels will never be safe for the humans to visit but the humans thrive on exploration and belong back in space so the ship must be made safe. I have loved reading this nine book series and can't wait to start the Cygnus Rising series set in the same world.

Mankind’s future is in the stars not on the planet Vii. Humans are driven to explore space and expand their knowledge and, hopefully, find others that may have gone ahead into the darkness. But before they can leave, the space station needs to be cleaned of murderous enemies. G-War, Braden, Micah and the rest go back to wrestle control of the station from old and new enemies. Their strength is not only in their numbers and weapons it’s in their hearts and desire for the betterment of humanity. Fast-paced, action-packed, loaded with combative humor, and the superiority of cat over man.

I read about 75 to 150 books a year. I am not a critic but I know what I like. This was a fun and interesting story. The characters were very easy to identify with. Especially the cats. It is always nice to read something that can be enjoyed with out all the foul language. Not that I'm a prude but enough is enough. I have read several of Craig Martelle's books ,that being said keep up the good work.

This is the ninth and last book in the Free Trader series written by Craig Martelle. In this book Braden and Micah return the the RV Traveller to try and make it safe for humanity to use it as a base for a return to the stars. This book has the usual mix of action and humour which characterises the Free Trader series. It's a fun and entertaining read.
I enjoyed this a lot as the ideas which underpin the Free Trader series are developed and a path to Cygnus rising is created. Unfortunately this book is too short. There are a lot of loose ends and half-finished ideas. Is it another rogue AI, what happened to the androids, what about the other decks and so on. This is unusual for Craig Martelle.who is normally very thorough and writes books that can be read as closed editions and as part of a series. I think that this should have been 25 - 50% longer or a two part book.
So a fun read but an unsatisfying way to end the series.
