Fall from Grace (Resurrection Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 270 ratings

A time-travel vampire romance.

Eternal life is far too long when the man you love doesn’t love you.

Grace has been resurrected. She’s a vampire, an apex predator who will live for millennia. But that’s the problem; she’s no different to any other vampire. The one thing which fascinated Roman – her ability to time-travel – died when Grace did.

As Roman becomes more distant and preoccupied, Grace seeks something or someone to ease her loneliness.

This is the fourth novel in the Resurrection series.

Wow! I typically don't gush about books, but I am enthralled by this series. No pun intended. Also, NO SPOILERS here.

This fourth installment in the Resurrection series about Grace and Roman really delves deeper into the mythos and biology of Elizabeth Davies vampire world. The story integrates a palatable blend of science fiction with folklore and a gritty milieu in the streets of modern day Paris. So many aspects of the previous books in the series are drawn upon and indulged in further. We see Grace truly experiencing existence as a vampire, while her beloved, Roman, is buried in his work in hematology and diseases. Despite the supernatural context, the characters feelings are so very relatable. When faced with eternal life, Grace is discovering that Roman is distracted by 'other' things, while she herself is trying desperately to find her place in this new life, with or without him. Jealousy, betrayal, desire, bloodlust, violence, hubris, deep sorrow and grief, and even mundane things like their home and community are addressed with finesse. We get a close up view of Grace's inner turmoil over the loss of her humanity and what it means to be the apex predator, as a relatively clumsy fledgling with an irresponsible and distant, but affectionate guide.

The plot is tight and well-paced: Not so well foreshadowed to be too predictable, but enough to keep you hanging on for what will happen next. And boy, do things happen. One after another. Never a dull moment, so to speak. Even to the last few paragraphs, which expertly set up the 5th book to be a real wild ride, the action and depth is nonstop. Don't worry though; While the ending is open, it wraps up nicely. The characters are dangling off a bit of a cliff, but the stakes are all shifting again. It gives enough closure.

I admit, when I picked up that first book, I thought. Oh joy, another vampire tale. And honestly I don't care for the covers one bit. They simply don't do the story inside any justice, but that's purely subjective. That opening sequence charmed me as much as the blurb, so in I dove. Time travel and vampires. Why not? I am so glad I did. There is so much more to these books than a typical romance, suspense, or horror story. Subplots flow through and come together expertly. Just the way a novel should. You get caught up in the narrative current and washed away into the story, losing track of real time altogether. Full immersion to the end. The characters are dimensional and feel real. I can't imagine why this series hasn't gotten more popular. Hopefully it will get the attention it deserves soon. Davies writing is fantastic. I can't wait for the next installment.

My advice is that if you haven't read the first 3 books, start them in order. Also, if you require a fairy-tale romance or light themes, this series may not be for you. The darkness is visceral and the sex is as raw as the emotions the characters are clawing through. Mind you, it's not gratuitous: just gritty. Definitely for mature audiences.

I usually avoid any vampire stories but this book and series fell into my lap. I ended up really enjoying books 1-3 but I found 4 and 5 just so-so. Interesting storyline.

Oh the heartache! My heart was breaking at times in this fourth book in the series because of all the misunderstandings and the tribulations that Roman and Grace endured. Roman is now one of my favourite characters as he just oozes sex appeal, charisma, charm all rolled up in a hot, sexy, alpha vampire body. I didn't want the story to end and I am looking to reading the next story in this series because there is so much more that I want to see happen and experience with this wonderful couple. Not only is this a hot, passionate, tender, love story but it has all the elements that you want in a book, intrigue, adventure, twist and turns, tenderness, hot sexy times and tribulations. I could not put this book down! You have to read this series in order. It is NOT a standalone and I know that I will be reading this series again to savour every moment these two share.

I was excited to get the 4th book. It was really suspenseful and it kept you guessing of how Grace was adapting to her vampire self. She is met with obstacles along the way. she feels that Roman no longer cares for her, because she is just a normal vampire with no time travel abilities anymore. The story is very well placed and well done and I did not expect that ending.

I am very happy that I gave the series a chance when I picked up the first book. And I am so happy that I did I'm in love with these books. I never read a time travel romance with a Vampire. And I love how everything is written. Now I wish someone would pick up the series for a TV show I think it could work!♡ I am eagerly awaiting for the fifth book. Desperately awaiting to figure out what's going to happen next!

I became downright possessive of my time to read not wanting to be disturbed. This series is a MUST READ. Many thanks to Jimmy Thomas for putting an extraordinarily handsome face to Roman by being the books cover model!! In my wildest dreams Jimmy!!!

The love and romance from book two was subjugated to the jealousy experienced by Grace as she was marginalized by Roman's work. That same level of intensity between the two beings was not felt here.

Fall from Grace is the fourth book in the Resurrection series by Elizabeth Davies. To wholly understand what is going on you really do need to read the other books in the series first. If you haven't read them first then I am afraid this review is going to start with quite the spoiler!

In order to be eternally together Roman resurrected Grace when she died from cancer. She is now a vampire and Roman should spend extra time with her to ensure that she learns to handle her life as such. Teach her the ways of vampirism as it were. Unfortunately he is busy with his work trying to discover what makes some humans enthrallable, and others not. He also, more importantly for the human race, is trying to find a cure for a new strain of flu that has the potential to wipe out at least a third of the population.

With Roman so preoccupied Grace feels more alone than ever. She is hurt to discover that becoming a vampire to be with Roman for eternity seems to have pushed them apart rather than pull them closer together. He is not her knight in shining armour any more. Having so much time on her hands makes her want for companionship, and when she starts talking to a stranger on a plane, she starts to make choices that could affect her relationship with Roman forever, and perhaps much more than that.

Roman on the other hand doesn't have an inkling of how Grace is feeling, but he must feel some of their distance because he too starts to feel an attraction to one of his work colleagues. The woman in question is a human, one who doesn't know he is a vampire, and is helping him with his vital work. He even begins to wonder if he could offer her eternal life because a mind like hers would be extremely helpful, and a loss to the scientific world when she dies.

While totally lost in their own worlds, neither Roman nor Grace realise that their lives are in danger, and that a force against vampires are closing in. Their is huge potential not only for the vampire population to be wiped out, but the world could be in worse jeopardy than it already is with the potential new flu strain.

There is a HUGE cliffhanger to this story, but thankfully the next and final book in the series is already released, so I don't have to wait to find out what happens! This book is a real page turner. From beginning to end I was absolutely hooked. I was so thrilled that Grace's resurrection was a success. Roman and Grace are soul mates, they should never be parted. When they ended up so distant in this latest book I was a bit shocked, I had images of them being all over each other and happy. But of course, if they hadn't had a strained relationship the events that occur might never have come to fruition. I ran the whole gamut of emotions reading this story, it is so fabulously written. The author makes you feel as if you are among the characters, you feel what they feel, the love the loss, the pain. It, like the previous books in the series is extremely captivating and I thoroughly recommend them all.

Sequels, love 'em or loathe 'em. They either work or they don't. THIS ONE DOES WORK!
Elizabeth Davies has truly created a memorable world. The Vampire world of Grace & Roman. Yes they bite, drink blood & passionately make love BUT, their story & in particular Grace's difficult journey from book 1-4 is very different & extremely intetesting.
You ACTUALLY care about these characters, such is the way that Elizabeth treats them.
Scenery, plot, thrills & passion - it's all here.
Crafting an ongoing tale of Vampire is difficult & normally not my cup of tea, HOWEVER, I am utterly addicted to these books & Grace's continuing development.
Do please read the first in the series. You won't be disappointed.
Also, contact the author via Twitter, @BethsBooks. She will always make time for her readers. A first class Lady & Author.
    Roll on book 5!!!
