Thanks to being unemployed, I don’t have an excuse for refusing to return to my hometown to help my parents. Worse, I’ve just run into Zach Sommers, the prime reason I left this small town ten years ago. I can’t let his twinkling eyes and chiseled body distract me from hating him.

When a temp office sends me to manage his overwhelmed veterinary clinic, the job is more tempting than my desire to avoid him. If I’m not careful, his amazing bedside manner and the way he rocks his scrubs will make me forget why we’ve been enemies since first grade.

But this is Zach we’re talking about. Before long, he uncovers the story of how I lost my job and turns it into a humiliating joke. He’s mistaken if he thinks his endless apologies and thoughtful favors will undo the damage.

By the time I learn my grudge is nowhere near as big as his heart, it’s too late to do anything about it. I’m moving back to Boston on Thanksgiving Day. It’s not like he’d want me to stay. Right?

    Kenzie has returned to her childhood hometown for a relatively short stay. Her parents have tasked her with getting their apartment ready for rental. Her return brings her face to face with her childhood nemesis Zach. His hurtful words and deeds leaving behind long held hurt and humiliation. When a mistake results in Kenzie having to work closely with Zach everything changes. The pair must navigate old hurts, misunderstandings, miscues and social awkwardness in order to get their happily ever after. Along the way they learn about themselves and each other in a story that is endearing and entertaining. Add to that family, friends and an array of animals to round out this small town romance. I chose to read an arc of this book.

    This is the 2nd book in this series, and this is Zach and Kenzie’s story. When Kenzie is unemployed, she returns to her hometown, where she ends up working as a temp for Zach’s overwhelmed veterinarian clinic. This is a well written story with undeniable chemistry, friendships, humor, witty banter, romance, family, and love, which leads to an entertaining story.

    When Kenzie moves back home to clean, revive, and rent an apartment for her parents, nothing goes quite as planned. She didn't expect the tenant to still be in the apartment, nor did she expect to find a new friend in the process of trying to evict her. She never expected a temp job to be with the biggest tease of her childhood, either. And she never thought she would work for that former enemy in a veterinarian clinic, especially since she is allergic to dogs! However, sometimes the unexpected is exactly what you need.

    A delightful book about one of four brothers in a small town. Fun characters that always seem to surprise the reader just when it seems everything is going smoothly. Chuckles, laughs, friendship and warm feelings explode as the story progresses. I loved the small town feel where the grocery store of "questionable" quality is named HELLO AND GOOD BUY. Entertaining series that I look forward to continuing as books are finished.

    Mackenzie “Kenzie” is back in Hartsfield, MA to clear out her parent’s apartment, to include painting and cleaning it before renting it. When she runs into former schoolmate Zach, she is not thrilled. While in elementary school, Zach humiliated young and impressionable Kenzie and she has not forgotten or forgiven him. When she is hired as a temp office manager, she is shocked when she discovers she will be working in Zach’s disorganized veterinary clinic. How can two people so different find common ground? This sweet book takes us along on their discovery of each other. Maybe they are not as different as they believe. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

    This was a sweet and humorous story. Zach the joker has teased Kenzie from elementary to high school, all the while having a serious crush on her. Kenzie's back in town helping her parents with their rental and runs back into him. Unfortunately for both of them, Zach hasn't grown out of this annoying habit, and it continuously puts him in a bad place with Kenzie. What's funny is everyone around them can see the chemistry brewing, especially as they whip zings back and forth. It was only a matter of time before Zach gets it together so Kenzie will give him a chance. Overall, it's a fun read about how sworn enemies can become lovers.
