Years ago, I should have known nothing could happen, no matter what my heart said, because he was my stepbrother and he hated me, which he made it clear every chance he got.     This is the first book in a new series called Devil's Riot MC: New Orleans Chapter and a part of the multi-author series called Dark and Twisted Tales. It's a fast-paced and standalone book that will keep you engaged from start to finish.
    This story is an adult version of the fairy tale The Ugly Duckling and a second chance at love for the h and H.

    I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a second chance love story that is far from easy. If you can get past their conflict and his actions at the beginning, you'll find that these two had a lot of growing to do on their own. Bullying plays a big part in the beginning of Evelyn and Bennett's love story. There is hatefulness and cruelty from him when they are younger. He was stupid, young and immature, but that didn't make it any easier for her to live with the feelings, even later on. Bennett does things that he can to atone for his behavior, except it takes him years to fix things with the person he wronged. They still feel the connection when they are reunited, but Evelyn is torn between it and old hurts. Bennett just wants to prove himself and their love to her. It was a good story with tension and conflict but also chemistry, passion and love. I'm not into the bully troupe, but I do love the couples and stories that Ember creates

    This is a short and steamy bully bad boy becomes redeemed biker hero in this new Instalove short story from Ember Davis. There are trigger warnings so if you are triggered you should read those. Now on to the good stuff.

    You meet the couple in high school their history before becoming stepsiblings is eluded to by the H bullying the curvy h. I usually don't like stepsibling bully troupe but this one is worth the read. The bullying is hard to read but its not lengthy, its just enough to get the point but doesn't cross the line to make you want to put the book down.

    Its instalove so i'm not spoiling anything by saying that forgiveness is given pretty quickly, but the h did make the H explain and his redemption (although not elaborated on as much as I would like) helped make the quick forgiveness believable.

    If you are a fan of Ms. Davis other books you won't be disappointed. It has all the best parts of her Instalove stories. Well worth the quick read. I am only giving it 3 stars because of the bullying, its painful to read even though its brief.

    The more I read of the Devil’s Saints MC, the more I want. Ember Davis bring the men and women of the MC to life and though each book can be a stand alone, reading them all in order makes sense so you know who the people are in each book.

    Bennett had been bullying Evelyn all through high school. When their parents marry and they become step siblings it gets worse. Evelyn has had it and upon graduation leaves for New York, never telling Bennett. Years later Evelyn returns never dreaming that Bennett has joined the Devil Saints MC and has been keeping track of her for years. He claimed the reason he bullied her was because he loved her and he’s been trying to keep her safe to atone for the way he treated her in the past. Will Evelyn be able to forgive him for how he treated her in the past so they can have a future together. I did not care for Bennett he was too quick to bully. He did redeem himself but I never really liked his character. This is a fast paced, steamy read and I did enjoy reading it but didn’t like Bennett.
