Nicky James live in the small town of Petrolia, Ontario, Canada and is mother to a wonderful teenage boy and wife to a truly supportive and understanding husband, who thankfully doesn't think she is crazy.

Nicky has always had two profound dreams in life; to fall back hundreds of years in time and live in a simpler world, not bogged down by technology and to write novels. Since one of those dreams is impossible, she decided to make the other come alive on paper.

Nicky writes mm romance novels that take place in fantastical, medieval type settings and loves to use the challenges of the times to give her stories and characters life.

    This would have been a better than average read, if only it had another pass with the editor. A nice story, with fun interactions. Definitely think it makes sense to read the connected stories first. But too many grammar errors kept pulling me out of the story. And most importantly, "confliction" is not a word. This is not the first time I've seen it used, but it drives me crazy!

    It's no secret that Nicky James is one of, if not, my favourite author.
    We met Krew in Shades of Darkness (book 2 in the Trial of Fear series) where he stole our hearts with his sassiness.
    When I heard that Nicky James was writing this companion book, I was over the moon.
    In Fearless, Krew is paired beautifully with the very sexy silver fox Max.
    It's been too long since Max has had someone to care for but as soon as he sees Krew, he knows what Krew needs.
    Krew has a type.. and it's definitely not a daddy-type.
    This book is not your typical daddy kink book... Krew would not allow it!!
    This book is a beautifully written May/Dec book with a bit of "boy" element introduced.
    Mrs James is known as a slow-burn author, but of course, Krew dictated the speed of this book, and boy did he ever. This story is filled with humour (thank you Krew), sassiness, emotion, heartbreak (of course, we're talking about Nicky James here) and lots and lots of love.
    I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy from the author and have read it twice before release day... it is that good!!!
    Mrs James has assured us that there is more to come in this series, and I for one, can't wait for the next installment.
    **Although this is the 4th book in the series, it can be read as a standalone**

    I have been wanting to read Krew’s book since he was introduced in Rory’s book. He is a unique character and very charming so I was really looking forward to his book. Well I like the book but just thought that it could be better? Maybe I just can’t understand or relate to the fear of being loved and how that actually caused a panic attack.     I love this series. Krew is by far my favorite. I laughed so much reading this book. Krew deserved so much better than he was dealt and I’m so glad he gave max a chance. Disney princesses and all. Favorite book of the series and I don’t say that lightly because Ireland & Raven stole my heart as did Rory & Adrian. And I loved that those 2 couples made cameos in this book. Krew chasing Ireland thru thr bar had me cackling. Such a great read.

    Krew!! If you’ve been reading along in the Trials of Fear series, Krew really needs no introduction. If you haven’t, you should because all the stories are amazing. Krew grabbed at me, and so many others, when we first met him as Rory’s best friend in “Shades of Darkness”. I fell for his fierce, sassy, sweet and dazzling personality. As we could all see his outrageous flirty behavior helped guard his heart and kept others at arms length. Until Max. Max with his nurturing and mind personality, he was the perfect match for Krew.     I thought I'd read this so when i got to the end of the series and found I hadn't I quickly went back to read it.........Krew is amazing and so sweet and funny...But his back story broke my heart..How can parents be like that..Hateful...Max I simply love so much..He's amazing..He's so patient waiting for Krew to sort himself out....He's always there for him..He's perfect..Not quite the Daddy but probably more than Krew would dare believe....An amazing book but quite heart-breaking at times..But then that's what Ms James is good at x

    This was a beautiful and heartwarming read. Krew has a fear of love and commitment stemming from a childhood filled with hatred and abandonment, where love was used as a tool against him. He is determined to live his life without getting close to anyone, surviving on meaningless hookups. That is until Max turns his world upside down.

    Max wasn't looking for anyone - he lost his someone special 10years earlier and left the BDSM Daddy/boy scene behind him. When he meets Krew, he can't help but be drawn to him, seeing someone who needed him (not just wanted him). But Krew us determined to keep his distance, and definitely doesn't go for the Daddy kink.

    Told from alternating POVs, we get to experience their shared connection, and the development of their relationship, from both perspectives. Apart from some sassing from Krew at the beginning, the Daddy kink doesn't play any part in this book, nor does any other BDSM activities. Krew is very clear in what he won't go for and Max respects that boundary, taking him on for who he is. That's not to say that Max doesn't push to break down Krew's barriers, and always looks after him - just that the kink doesn't play a part.

    I haven't read any other books in this series, finding this one by chance and not realising it was an offshoot of a series. It held up as a stand alone novel, including the references to Rory and Adrian from Book 2. I'm now intrigued to go back and read the whole series.
