Benedict Manning the Duke of Westmoreland was a very busy and important man, and had no time for the new female typewriters and their hysterics. Thus, he had frightened off three in less than a week, and Isabella Hilgrove, proprietress of the school of typewriters stalked into the Dukes Library to give him a piece of her mind.

Miss Hilgrove wore gray and black and was buttoned up to her chin, and her spine was stiff as a board as she spit fire. Heaven help him, but he was afraid he must have been to long without a woman, because he found himself mightily distracted by the spinster.

Since he had frightened all her other typewriters and Miss Hilgrove seemed singularly unimpressed by the Duke’s sharp tongue and roving eye, it was decided that she would type for him for two weeks. It was to be very temping weeks for the Duke and Miss Hilgrove as well.

This was very well written and covered the subject of women’s suffrage, something we forget was a long time coming for women in our ancestry. It was fun, funny, sweet, and so enjoyable to read. This was a win for Scarlett Scott.

I rate this 3.9 round up to 4. the focus of the book was on the relationship between the H and h. There is this undeniable attraction between them both that they both do everything in their power to run away from and deny continuously but they simply cannot, or more so the H simply cannot stay away from the h. You get the feeling that Love is something entirely out of the participants hand. Neither of them wanted it but they could not let it be. The surrounding story with the H work is secondary as is the h occupation and her involvement with a group of women reformist that include the H sister. At times I was frustrated with the h effort to make the Duke leave her alone, its clear he is into her, but if you think of the times and what she had to lose compared to him if the relationship did not work out it made sense. The one criticism I would add is that the external antagonist in the story (as the main antagonist was the characters waring with their feelings and expectations and fears) was not well developed. I wished I felt the danger the h was in when she was captured. I wish I felt more of the threat by understanding the revolutionists better but the author did not choose to elaborate on this and really focused the story on the relationship between the two only. The climax at the end was very fast and I wished I could have spent some more time in the h head and through her days as she waited for the H to recover. The other little peeve I have is when "everyone else" can tell when the h or H are in love but the person in question "can't see it." I prefer my characters to know their minds more than their friends and family.
Overall its a good read. I consider it a deep love story, satisfying end. At times you get angry because of the person restraints the H and h put on themselves because its clear they are in love but it makes sense if you transport to that era.

A wonderful, enchanting romantic adventure and an awesome finale to a great series!! Benedict Manning, Duke of Westmoreland, is the head of the Special League to bring an end to the violence of the Fenians, terrorizing London with bombs. To help with his reports, he engages a typist from Ladies Typewriting School - but after dismissing the third lady, he is confronted with the school's head, Miss Isabella Hilgrove. The initial meeting has indignation and rage on her part and on his part an interest in goading Isabella, attracted by her courage, loyalty and beauty. A compromise is reached and Isabella herself is to help Benedict with his reports for the Home Office. Benedict is a bachelor who has his unwed sister, Lady Callie, living with him. Callie immediately befriends Isabella, admiring her independence and involves her in her many projects, including female vote. The Mannings are the product of their parents loveless marriage which turned to hate. Determined never to repeat their mistake, Benedict remains single. But his growing attraction to Isabella is disturbing - as well as her attraction to him. As the daughter of a shopkeeper, Isabella is aware and sensitive of the difference in their social standing, especially when Benedict wants her as his mistress. Insulted and determined to keep her distance, Isabella's plan is destroyed when she is kidnapped by the Fenians hoping to get information. When they let her go, Benedict who put all available men to find her, insists she stay at his home for her own protection. But what of her heart and her weakness in being close to Benedict for she has fallen in love with him! With danger all around with continued bombings, Benedict is determined to protect the innocent, especially those in his care. Action story of menace lurking and two strong willed people who fall into love they never expected - and proved the depth of that love with their very lives!

4.0 out of 5 stars Steamy romantic story - Good read
Reviewed in India on June 12, 2020
The book is good and conclusion of the series yet somehow I found the previous books far better. This one was loaded with too many steamy scenes and Epilogue wherein all the characters from previous books come together. The story culminates with start of new series wherein we have Duke's sister Callie's story coming up
The book starts on promising note with the arguments and witty banter between Isabella and Benedict however soon reduces to sexual scenes only. I have read author's works so I know steamy scenes are common ... However as I said earlier this one had too many. It's a good time pass read

    🌶️🌶️🌶️/5.

I loved how Scarlett writes the female characters. Isabella was fierce and passionate in her first encounter with the Duke of Westmorland, Benedict, who was an arrogant Duke who thinks he knows everything.
I liked that Isabella gets hired to type everything Ben wants much to his chagrin and i liked how they slowly start falling in love.
Their banter was great and this was delightful. I listened to it in one sitting and I can't wait to read more by this author.

A good completion to the series.
An interesting storyline, well written with interesting characters.
I do prefer a shorter read but the length was manageable for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A most engaging read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 28, 2020
This was a most engaging read. I loved the banter between Isabella Hilgrove and Benedict, Duke of Westmorland. Isabella was very independent, determined and stubborn. Benedict, a handsome and arrogant duke, was used to getting his own way and sparks did fly in a manner of ways when they were together. They were attracted to each other but Isabella wanted her independence and she felt unworthy when compared to his higher status. Isabella wanted to improve the lot of women in the work place by training typists and there are the meetings to provide funds for the suffragette movement. There is also the threat of the dangerous Fenians. Benedict’s sister was also an entertaining character and I look forward to reading her story.
