One was afraid to fall in love again. The other was afraid to be himself. Together they fight their fears.

Jace

A motorcycle accident several years ago nearly took my leg. Then, it took my UFC career and, eventually, my marriage. My current life revolves around working a dead-end job and barely living. The only thing keeping me moving forward and giving me purpose are those kids I teach MMA at Knockout Gym. That is, until him. When Nolan calls for help from a dark alley, I don’t want to get involved, but what man am I to ignore a plea for help? Now, I spend several evenings a week teaching the young man how to defend himself. But who is going to defend me against him? He’s breaking down my walls, block by block, and I’m falling for him.

Nolan

I don’t belong here. A rich boy in a bad neighborhood equals trouble. There’s no way to fight four men off who mug me. But he comes out of nowhere like some knight of old, fighting his way through the thugs, saving my life. The incident left me shaken. I can’t go through that again. Jace can teach me to protect myself, so I hire him for private lessons. But he’s become more than my trainer and savior. Would he want a young, rich boy? We are worlds apart. Can we get past our differences to find common ground? Because I want him.

Fighting the Fear is a standalone MM romance novella in the multi-author collaboration Fighting for Love. All the stories take place in the shared gym Knockout MMA Training Facility. At Knockout Gym, happily ever afters are hard-won.

This is a demisexual, bi-awakening, age-gap, friends-to-lovers romance where even coming from different worlds, you can still share similarities and fears.

CW: Mugging, depression, homophobia, violence, explicit language and sex.

“Surrounded by the both of them, I feel safe for the first time in years, and like I can finally breathe.”

Cole Cassidy has spent the past three years raising his younger brother, and he’s faltering under the pressure of raising a pre-teen. As trouble in his brother's life escalates, the feelings of inadequacy reach an all time high. When a last-ditch effort to help his brother turns into the lifeline they both need, Cole can't do anything but hold on.

Childhood best friends to lovers, Lucas and Brooks Novak, have the life they've always wanted. Until Brooks's newest client walks into their gym and turns the couple's world upside down.

Cole’s brother thrives under Brooks's careful tutelage, and seeing him flourish is everything Cole has ever wanted. The more time the brothers spend with the couple, the harder Cole falls, despite his best intentions.

Lucas and Brooks never expected to fall for Cole, or for him and his brother to fit so seamlessly into their lives, but now they’re unwilling to let the brothers go. Cole fights his feelings at every turn, but the pair are unlike anyone he’s ever met, and he can’t deny their patient understanding is addictive…except they belong to each other, and he knows better than to hold on to false hope.

Trust has never come easy for any of them, but if they can learn to let go, they might just become the family the four of them were always meant to be.

Second chances can hit where it hurts—especially between a bully and his victim.

Fred
When people say, “Live your best life,” the ideal at thirty-three doesn’t account for bisexual awakening, divorce, unemployment, and being beaten to a pulp by muggers all in the span of a few weeks. Five months later, my therapy of choice—or rather, my sister, Franny’s, choice—was to work through my physical and emotional trauma at Knockout Gym with a personal trainer who specializes in my exact kind of baggage.

Only he’s part of my baggage too. Corbett Jahns, the prick who bullied me in high school and caused what were probably my first signs of bi awakening long before I was ready to deal with it.

The universe hates me.

Corbett
Freddy Bard walking back into my life, when I finally had everything together, felt like a prank by the universe. My first male crush, but instead of being brave enough to admit that back in high school, I was the stereotypical repressed bully. No excuses but believe me when I say I’ve paid for those mistakes.

In college, an injured rotator cuff ruined my dreams of playing pro ball. I turned to drugs. Drinking. Hookups. Knockout Gym saved my life. I’ve been the bookkeeper and a trainer there for years now and helped a lot of people, but helping Fred after all I did to him would mean more than any of it.

Even if he hates me.

Fighting My Bully is an MM standalone novel in the multi-author series Fighting for Love. All stories take place at the shared gym, Knockout MMA Training Facility. At Knockout Gym, happily ever afters are hard-won. This hurt/comfort romance about overcoming past traumas might heal both former bully and his bi-awakened victim, as they turn the enemies to friends to lovers trope on its head.

If he doesn't shut his mouth, I might just do it for him. The only problem is I don’t know whether to kiss him or punch him.

Theodore
College can't last forever, but it was nice getting a taste of freedom. I'm back home again, living in my childhood room, and having to put up with the golden child, Cypress. I don't know what's worse, walking in on them with my friend or being forced to share a bedroom. It'd be less confusing if they weren't so pretty.

Cypress
What's Theo's problem? Ever since his dad started dating my mom, he's been a total jerk. The last four years he's been off at college were a welcome relief. As far as I'm concerned, the sooner he gets a job and moves out the better. I'm too busy with MMA and college classes to deal with his mess.

Trying to get free shouldn’t be this hard.

Levi

Parents are supposed to protect us. Love us. But what if they’re the very people trapping you in hell? When I stumble into the gym, I’m only looking for somewhere warm. Somewhere safe. What I found is something far more dangerous than my father’s fists. I found hope. What happens if I lose my safety before I even have the chance to be free? To be me?

August

It’s my job to teach people how to keep themselves safe. Someone shouldn’t be hurt by those who are supposed to love them, simply for being who they are. What happens when the person I want to help more than anything won’t let me in? What happens if I lose him before I even have the chance to show him real, safe love?

Love is like a roundhouse kick, you never see it coming the second time.

-Aaron

I fell in love with the first guy I got close with. Not out of convenience, but fate. We shared everything—the same apartment, the same trainer, the same gym, and ultimately, the same dream—to become famous and successful UFC fighters.

But the reality was much different from the dream. It was a bitter pill to swallow knowing that if we wanted to find success, we couldn’t do it as lovers.

I only found the strength to walk away from him because my drive to succeed was greater than my need to be loved. Or so I thought…

-Cortez

Once upon a time I was a fool in love. A naïve kid with starry eyes. I thought being a great fighter was all it would take to launch me to the top. I had so much to learn. And the hardest lesson of all was finding out the one man I thought I could trust, who would never betray me, could rip my heart from my chest and crush it in his fist like I never meant anything to him.

Lesson learned. Don’t shit where you eat. Don’t sleep with your coworkers. And above all, don’t ever fall in love with your rival opponent…again.

Fighting Against Fate is an MM standalone novella in the multi-author series Fighting For Love. All stories take place at the shared gym, Knockout MMA Training Facility. At Knockout Gym, happily ever afters are hard-won. These friends-to-lovers turned rivals realize there are no second chances in the ring, but when it comes to life and love, forgiveness is always possible.

Biography

Shae lives in Wisconsin with her family and a cat named Stanley who tolerates them. She enjoys reading, of course, hockey, American football, listening to music, and whiling away time on the internet on social media or doing random searches for images of hot guys when she's supposed to be doing other things, like writing or cleaning.

Her books are full of slow burn but high heat romance, with a HEA and plenty of interesting characters and humor.
