When getting sick makes everything better.
Katie has everything planned out; school, career, social life. And she isn't going to let anything get in her way. Until she repeatedly crosses paths with poster-child frat boy, Isaac Johnson.
She hesitates when all he wants is a hook up. She pushes him away when he shows signs of wanting more. Then she's torn, when she finds him all alone and sick as a dog after his frat brothers abandon him for spring break.
Katie should leave. Stick to her plan. Finish the project that could make or break her college career.
But she can't leave him like this--to fend for himself when he can barely breathe--or ignore the connection building between them. The one she's not sure she can fight anymore.
This is a steamy, 18+ read with a happily ever after!

About the author

Comin' in HOT with the HEA
Anastasia Austin writes new adult and adult romance with plenty of heat.
Things you should know: She's a mess without her morning coffee. She treats her cats like people (all animals, really.) She's overly reliant on gifs to express her emotions. She loves her husband, even though he's a total troll and their teenage son, even though he can't tell a joke to save his life.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2019Format: KindleVerified Purchase'Fighting Fate' was fun, funny, romantic getaway with all the addicting tropes you hope for when reading a romance. I had a great time reading Katie and Isaac's story and I think people will really enjoy it too.
Katie, the main character, is a breath of fresh air because she's not perfect and has faults. Her desire to be successful in her career and her belief that love will only get in the way creates a nice space for her character to grow. The fact that her studies and her future are so important to her is lovely, but I also enjoyed her realization she can have it all if she learns trust and balance.
Isaac, the male protagonist, is also a highly likeable character and a TOTAL HUNK to boot. I really loved the sexy romance scenes. For my taste, they were just the right amount of dirty and sweet!
Anastasia's writing is a pleasure to read, especially when one needs a little break from all the negativity on the news. I thoroughly enjoyed my staycation in her fictional world and I look forward to her next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseTwo young insecure and stressed out college students find each other and fight the chemistry between them. It's a well written story that reads perfectly as a standalone, but can still connect to the future books in the series. It's a good read with sweet characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2019Format: Kindle3.5/5 stars. I enjoyed this story a lot. I liked the interaction between Issac and Katie. As someone who tends to put her career over relationships I can understand where Katie is coming from with her hesitation to be with Issac. I think there was a lot of buildup to the smut scenes when I really just wanted it to happen already but I definitely understand why it was done. Overall this was a really great NA novel and I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2019Format: KindleIsaac and Katie are interesting characters in the college romance. She had her life planned until Isaac interrupted things. Their path constantly crosses and when he is left by himself and sick as well she makes a conscious decision to assist him. Her feelings for Isaac are beginning to blur despite her determination. Will they have a happily ever after knowing Isaac's personality?

- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2019Format: KindleKatie is all work and very little play. Her priorities are not falling behind in school and keeping her GPA high. She is focused and allows very little to distract her. She is out for a rare break in work when she meets Isaac. It's like the are pulled together by an unexplained force. Katie immediately puts an end to it and leaves Isaac without a name or phone number. Again circumstances put them together and they get to know each other over spring break. Katie learns a lot about balancing work and play. Isaac is sweet. He goes out his way to find Katie and when he does he makes he shows her how they can work together. Nice quick read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Steamy in the right places
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseHe fell first, they both fell hard.
I liked the realistic twist of how stubborn the female lead was, and found that very easy to relate to.
Enjoyed how everything didn't always line up at the right time and they had to work to make their own opportunities
