Finishing Well: Living with the End in Mind (A Devotional) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

To finish the Christian life well, the believer must live with the end in mind. The world offers us many distractions, but none of them offer lasting satisfaction, nor do they allow us to make a lasting difference. The reality that life is short should orient the way we live right now.

In this fifty-day devotional, readers will explore what the Bible says about the importance of persevering to the end, suffering well, standing firm, leaving a faith legacy, earning heavenly rewards, striving for unity in the faith, mutually encouraging one another, not growing weary, dying well, and much more.

This edition is new and expanded. Readers called the original thought-provoking, relatable, heart-stirring, and an eye-opener. You are sure to find inspiration, encouragement, and a few challenges in this second edition as well.

Lee Warren writes contemplative essay and devotional books, as well as inspirational Christmas novellas.

His essays remind you to slow down and enjoy the present moment because we’re only here for a little while. Readers say his essays are vulnerable, open, honest, engaging, insightful and thought-provoking.

His devotional books provide practical, story-driven devotional material you can use every morning to get your private worship started right. Readers call his devotional books encouraging, inspiring and thoughtful.

His inspirational Christmas novellas will remind you of Christmases past when your grandmother pulled piping hot cookies out of the oven and everyone gathered around the living room to open gifts and maybe sing a few carols. They'll also remind you that God sometimes chooses to step into the here and now by sending heavenly beings to encourage and challenge us.

When Lee isn’t writing essays, devotional material, or Christmas novellas, he is a freelance journalist who has written hundreds of articles for various newspapers and magazines. He’s also a fan of NASCAR, baseball, tennis, books, movies and coffee shops.

Finishing Well is both well written and well said. It's a good reminder of the shortness of life and the reality that any day may be our last on this earth, no matter what our present age.

Such a great devotional tackling an important season of life. I had to stop reading halfway through so I could go back and take notes. A good blend of inspiration and calls to action.

As an older Christian, I’ve been keenly aware that my days on the earth are numbered. This awareness motivates me to make productive use of each day. Lee Warren has taken this concept of finishing well as a Christian and written 50 devotions. As I read this second edition cover to cover, I found the devotions thought-provoking, inspiring and convicting.

For example, to conclude a devotion, Warren writes, “The Christian who wants to finish well is focused on obeying and trusting Christ, knowing it could very well come with a cost but also knowing that his or her faith compels that person to pay it, if necessary, for the gospel to be advanced. Don’t be afraid to go down your own desert when the Spirit calls you.” (Page 24)

Each devotional begins with a short Scripture, a personal story and ends with some action-oriented questions about your life. I highly recommend FINISHING WELL.

This is a valuable Christian resource no matter your age. Geared toward thinking about how your life will end, your readiness spiritually and for those you'll be leaving behind, the author reminds us that we have an opportunity to live counter-culturally with God's kingdom in mind. What a compelling nudge.

At the beginning, the author says we all walk with a spiritual limp, and invites the reader to limp arm in arm with him toward glory. I've already shared that idea with a friend who's going through tough times. I've shared with another Lee Warren's insight that most of our names and faces won't be remembered three generations from now. Also that what we do right now does count forever.

Each devotional begins with a Bible verse. This is a revised and expanded edition of a book with winsome questions that all believers would do well to consider.
