Wow - an exceptional book! First let begin with saying that I am not a big fan of historical novels. I purchased this because I love the author's contemporary books. It took me a couple of chapters to get into, but then I could not put it down. This is a well crafted historical romance with paranormal elements. It is well researched and fascinating, but even more so, is just totally engaging. The author has woven a tale of how a young girl feels at odds with the rest of society because of her unnerving ability to create fire. We follow this girl as she strives to find a husband and create a happy family life filled with love and children. As we all know, sometimes that is not easy to find. It is especially difficult to find if you are a young girl graced with an unusual gift and living in Salem, Mass.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in historical, romance, or paranormal novels.

Read this in almost one go. It is obviously well researched and one can almost smell the sea air and fish! Loved the characters and the customs of the times that they were constrained by. You can feel the mystery revolving around Bridget beginning to unfold and by the end of the book you wonder what the other two sisters will be like!

I am a big fan of Julie Moffett and her Lexi Carmichael series, which is why I tried this one. I read all three books but I think she could have put the whole story in one book.

This book touches on the Salem Witch Trials and the execution of innocent men and women accused of witchcraft. Most of them were innocent. It also is a love story 100 years after the Witch Trials and the search for lost siblings. Enjoyable!!
