About the author

Would you like the long or the short version of my bio?
The short? You got it.
I write steamy gay romance books and I love it. I also love reading books. Books are everything.
How was that?
A little more detail? Gotcha.
I started writing my first stories when I was a teen…on a freaking typewriter. I still have these, and they’re adorably romantic. And bad, haha. Fear of failing kept me from following my dream to become a romance author, so you can imagine how proud and ecstatic I am that I finally overcame my fears and self doubt and did it. I adore my genre because I love writing and reading about flawed, strong men who are just a tad broken..but find their happy ever after anyway.
My favorite books to read are pretty much all MM/gay romances as long as they have a happy end. Kink is a plus… Aside from that, I also read a lot of nonfiction and not just books on writing. Popular psychology is a favorite topic of mine and so are self help and sociology.
Hobbies? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Just kidding. I love traveling, spending time near the ocean, and hiking. But I love books more.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2021New to the author and went in with an open mind. I like to see an artists work as intended and not let too many details or reviews cloud my own experience of their work. However, I did understand the main plot point was based on a younger Dom and older sub - which is what attracted me to it. What I found was a very entertaining story that touched on a variety of different relationships. Lots of relationships.
Relationship between Father and Father's Best Friend
Relationship between Father and Son
Relationship between Son and Father's Best Friend
Relationship between Son and Mother
Relationship between Dom and Mentor
Relationship between Young Dom and older sub
Relationship between Young Dom and his dominance
Relationship between older sub and his age and physical limitations
The character that spoke to my heart most was the older sub. You could see how submission was hard-wired into his being and feel his frustrating quest to find his forever Dom, challenged by his own feelings on aging and physical limitations. We see his aching need to serve, we root for him to discard those ideas that block him and we are thrilled when he gets his needs met.
The other main character faces a slightly similar challenge. As a young Dom he is often dismissed as immature and unskilled, despite old school training from an established Master and his own clearly natural dominance. You can teach skills and practice dialogue, but you can't create the essence of a true Dominant.
As in the real scene, age actually does not define either a boy or a Dom - their character does. Yet there is a fundamental difference in life experience, physical abilities, status in the community, etc. However, these differences lose power as the relationship deepens. The right Dom paired with the right sub will find away to mutually benefit from each, without compromising their D/s dynamic.
As I read the first 3/4 of the story I was pleasantly struck by the authors incredible understanding of the mind of both Dom and sub. They really understand the thinking of each and beautifully display communication, reaction and translate those into some great scenes, in addition to, how the dynamic lives outside the playroom.
Not so secret is that this story also delves into the area of Daddy/boy relationships. Admittedly, this is a dynamic I don't clearly understand and struggle to find a connection to. A Daddy may have similar traits as a Dom in their need to control, nurture and care for their boy, but this does not always translate into a BDSM lifestyle.
That said. There's a lot packed into a wonderful story full of emotions, feelings, desires and kink. Love me some good kink and was not disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2021TRIGGER WARNINGS: Mentions of Parental Incest (neither MC participates in that), Godson/Godparent relationship, Age Gap, Previous relationship with MC's father, Mild to Moderate mention of Age Play.
I would have given this book five stars if it had any trigger warnings. However, there were quite a few triggers that neither the blurb nor the cover prepared me for. This book is not for everyone, if your reading sensibilities are more on the normal or prudish side give this book a wide berth. For me it's was an emotional rollercoaster ride and both Cornell and Reese's relationship was so emotional. especially with the death of Cornell's best friend and occasional lover. I also loved how the author dealt realistically with the ageism in the BDSM community and for me (as a disabled person myself) how the author wrote about Cornell's disability and his gradual acceptance of his new normal.
His disability wasn't cured with the power of Reese's love, and I love how Reese is accepting and accommodating to Cornell's disability. As for the sex, it was super hot (especially towards the end). Unfortunately, I wish I could give it 5 stars but they are way too many surprise triggers in this book for me to do that.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2025I have reread this one and the series many times. It is one of my favorites!! It’s so well done!! Plus you will LOVE this characters!! Rhys is the son of Cornell’s best friend Jones who dies in a car accident with Cornell in the car as well.
It’s a beautiful love story, with an age gap & daddy & boy.
I highly recommend this book & series!!
Nora is one of the best writers period!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2022And here I did it again, got sucked in by five star reviews. And I didn't read the blurb. I read the book while listening to Kenneth Obi narrating.
Ah well, this is what I liked: the age gap, the younger dom and older sub, even the car accident and the grieving process - I really do like to read about the heartbreak of an unexpected death. I liked that they eventually talked. Nothing is worse than drama coming from non-communication. I liked Ford, Rhys's mentor Dom and Raf, Brendan's little. What I didn't like was the portrayal of the only two female characters in the book. Their behaviour was downright mean, so not what I was comfortable with. Then there was the isolation during the time Cornell is recovering at Rhys's house. Cornell lost his best and only friend Jonas in a car accident, in which he got severely injured as well, and when he is in doubt about Rhys's intentions his only chance to talk to someone is a friend and mentor of Rhys's. Despite living the "dream" of not working and being at home myself I did not get the "I want to spend all my time with you so I quit my job" vibe after both MCs spent two weeks together, so of course they both lost parent(s) and inherited money. Cudos to Rhys though to start his own business, even though he wasn't doing much more than stare at spread sheets and being happy about a few bookings lined up for the coming weeks. Then there was the D/s relationship that morphed in the last third of the book into a Daddy/boy relationship. I enjoy reading about both but somehow watching the development in such a short time of about a month was not feeling natural. I would have liked to know more about Rhys's and Cornell's relationship before Rhys acted on his crush and inviting him to his place for recovery. Being not blood related making them godfather and godson, even though Rhys had outgrown any dependence, added a moral taboo that wasn't necessary. It just added to the hotchpotch that this book already was. Questionable consent as well as patient/physiotherapist interaction added to a cringe worthy feeling. I am no prude and I have seen segments of the book like a massage with happy ending in porn, but even my husband, who had the chance of listening involuntarily to bits and pieces, asked if they did anything else than have sex. He was sleeping while Cornell was having his inner monologues about doubting Rhys and himself. All in all a good try but not really well executed. The writing was good and the narrator only once used the wrong name.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!
Yet again Nora Phoenix gives the reader all they could want. Great characters, fantastic plot and a love match like no other. This author has a way of making the characters come to life on the page. It was easy to fall in love with Cornell (love the name!) and Rhys. Each turn they take the reader goes along with them.
Cornell wants love and comfort. He wants to be allowed to be the sub he longs to be but as a single man in his forties others just don't see him like that. In an instant things change for him and he has to start again. His best friends son comes to his rescue in more ways than one. Cornell not only learns that what he's wanted for so long can be achieved but he learns some new things about himself.
Rhys has known Cornell all his life but stopped thinking of him as a godfather many years ago. He can offer Cornell support and help with getting his life in track and the same time as letting the man realise who Rhys should be in his life.
These beautiful men learn to communicate and find out things about themselves that are so right but still surprising.
You can pick up any book from this author and you will always find a great read but this is one I'd recommend to leave you feeling good after taking you on an emotional journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful story
This was a beautiful story with many bittersweet moments. The MCs relationship evolved with their open honesty with each other and there are few things more romantic than seeing a couple feel secure enough with each other to be vulnerable and honest.
I also loved the younger Dom and older sub dynamic.

5.0 out of 5 stars SO GOOD
I loved the dynamic between Rhys and Cornell! I was afraid that this book would be filled with too much angst but the author did an excellent job of being respectful while keeping this a light and nice read. Sure there was a lot happening with Cornell mentally and physically but everything was beautifully executed. Now off to the next one in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "boy" and his daddy
I wasn't sure if I would like a book with a very much younger daddy and an older "boy",but this book was very hard to put down once I started it.! The emotional situations that both Rhys and Cornell went through together were intense and some broke my heart. The way their relationship was handled was brilliant with both the negative and positive sides of an older sub who was the dom's father being handled sensitively. A really great read!
