Right away, Koda’s lack of fighting skills proves to be a greater challenge than expected. Can Raven keep Koda alive long enough to train her while their feelings toward each other slowly begin to blossom?

Heather is a lover of all books YA Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy, but it wasn’t until she was in college that she realized this. It’s likely why the book she wrote in 8th grade was rewritten several times and then set aside to sit on her bookshelf to never see the light of day. Once Heather found the genre that she enjoyed above all others, she dove back into reading, and with it, writing. That’s why even her Christmas books are filled with dragons and shifters.

Currently, Heather and her writing companion, Gunney, live in Wisconsin. He’s her Pomeranian that loves to keep her company while she writes and edits. He also keeps her on her toes. They can often be found wandering the local cemetery to escape the apartment, sitting out on the back deck, or snuggling on the couch writing. If Heather isn’t writing, she’s listening to music while crocheting, making Christmas ornaments, or reading. Some form of music is always playing, and each book has its own theme song or album.

In a role where supernatural beings have revealed themselves, everyone who comes of age must be tested to see if they can be part of the Elite, a supernatural law enforcement agency.
Koda and her adoptive twin Lee, both find themselves in the program, but Kids also discovers that she isn’t quite as human as she thought; and her new trainer Raven is determined to teach her everything she needs to know…

This was an enthralling book, with a rather intriguing premise. Set not long after the reveal of supernatural beings, it depicts a world struggling with a new reality; and a bevy of unknown dangers to a woman just trying to fit in!

It’s a fairly fast paced novel, with a rather fascinating cast of characters, and an interesting ongoing background story. I’m looking forward to reading more about Raven and Koda et al. and seeing where the story leads.

An engaging read for the paranormal and urban fantasy fan.

I’ll be brief…this is a great first read of this series. The world & character building was done very well & while this is an introduction to the team & their missions it kept me captivated to find some answers & prepped me for future books. It is a cliff hanger but I think the next book promises to be great! I really can’t wait to see what transpires between Koda & Raven. I have to laugh because I consider Koda a guy’s name since my male dog is named Koda & Raven as a female’s name because other characters in other books had the same name but alas it is reversed. Koda is female & Raven is male.

Anywho…I recommend reading this book. I’m so looking forward to the next one!

Great mix of paranormal races. Good action from a team protecting the city. No romance but maybe in book two.

Enjoyed this Young Adult paranormal urban fantasy. (I think that's how it would be categorized.) The personalities and interactions of the Elite team were so well-written; from Shannon's easygoing intelligence to Jackson's playfulness, Luella's care and flirtation to Avery's loyalty, and of course Raven's leadership and the glue that holds the team together. Koda and her brother Lee fit right in when they join, and I love how protective the team is of them as trainees. Can't wait to see what missions come up in the next book!
