Editorial Reviews
Review
"[Reworking 'Twelve Dancing Princesses'] was a perfect choice with [Flight's] creative take on the traditional fairy lore. I found it all fascinating and incredibly well done, with lots of magic and an exciting fairy world. I definitely recommend, especially for folks looking for a new spin on the fairy tales." ~ Joyfully Jay M/M Romance Reviews
"As I love Andrews' and Blake's other two slash fairytales, I am happy to see they have written another one. This story is based on the German fairy tale, 'Twelve Dancing Princesses' with a gay twist, and the writing is again, lovely -- with that touch of fairytale-like language." ~ Boys In Our Books

- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2020This is the last book in the series but all are stand alone. Although I enjoyed all this one was my favorite. I enjoyed the story, the magic and the love.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2021Love Opalo sweet, hot, and deserved way more than he got. Mateo least favorite character along with his sisters and some of Opalo's siblings. I don't care for romance that has one character hemming and hawing about not falling in love because it's not worth it due to something that may happen in the future. Really will not go into much detail won't spoil it. I was very disappointed with how this story ended. Hoped for more.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2016Not a bad read, but the strangest, and probably my least favorite in the Tempting Tales series.
I liked that there was some diversity here, but I think I just wasn't crazy about the fantastical faeries and their bizarre appearances. Just didn't do much for me. I was also very annoyed with how Mateo was treated by pretty much everybody (except Opalo) which made me feel frustrated at times. I thought his approach was super reasonable, tbh.
Again, I did enjoy this one overall. the writing was fabulous, and the sex scenes were super hot. But I didn't find it quite as enchanting as the first two in this series, which was a little disappointing, since I think this was the longest one.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2017It has all the charm of a classic fairytale but for grownups. The two princes are enigmatic and wonderfully written. Though seemingly simple the story has a quiet depth that was a pleasure to read. I'm really looking forward to the authors book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2024Flight by Leta Blake is an entertaining mm take on the fairy tale of the Twelve Dancing Princesses, but with eleven princesses and one prince. Of course the prince is curious where his sisters go at night and decides to follow them. The fairy lands as imagined by Blake are quite unlike any I remember reading from my childhood. And the fairy prince is actually down-to-earth, making him easy to like. There was a twist toward the end that made the story more poignant. I am not a big fan of fairy tales being repurposed with new characters, often to make a point, but this one was well done. And the meaning of the title becomes clear once the fairy lands are described.

There once were storytellers that could weave like magic wonderful yarns about fae folk. The tales they tell grace our imaginations and are wonderful to read. This book is about a prince with a certain unrequited penchant. This is a fairytale with classic elements of discovered love and sensual delights. For this reader it was a thoroughly enjoyable get away.
Two magical realms find that love aided by fairy magic wins hearts, minds, and kingdoms. This simple combination brought to life is sensual reading that creates a good read. The landscape and characterizations are descriptive and luscious; you leave the reading with memories.
Story/Plot/Conflict
How does the only son of the king quench his longing for sensual love, in a kingdom with no viable choices? To save himself from a marriage lottery created by his father in his efforts to discover the nightly activities of his eleven daughters, the king devises a plan that will marry off his children to whomever will solve the puzzle. That compact includes his only son. Desperate to discover where his sisters’ go during nocturnal visits, Prince Mateo uses a magical cloak to follow secretly and finds himself in a fairy realm.
The princesses have found complete happiness in this colorful fae kingdom. Destiny offers Mateo his own beautiful fae prince with gifts of lascivious pleasures and love. But the fae prince Opalo must only hope for Mateo’s heart, which turns into an adventure.
Having found the husbands and lovers of their dreams, how will prince Mateo and the princesses break the news to their father?
Main Characterizations
Prince Mateo is the only son and prince of the realm. Having no prospects of love in his own kingdom, destiny gifts him with a fairytale lover who grants his every wish.
Opalo is the beautiful fairy prince the youngest in his brood. This beautiful diminutive fairy male is the wonderful destiny that awaits the lonely prince. He grants Mateo’s every wish in the most wonderful of ways.
Critiques
The flow was spot on. Skill in superb creative storytelling made this an enjoyable read, one that I would enjoy reading again. This will go on my virtual bookshelf for future escapes.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2022This book made me so happy. I felt like a little kid watching a fairy tale movie, except...for grown-ups. It was a really fun retelling with lots of magic, love, and sexy fun times. I got all the gooey happy feels from this and it was a nice break from the contemporary romance books I've been reading for a while.
I definitely recommend Flight, and now I'm excited to check out Levity too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fairy story amazing
This is the 2nd short I've read now and again I loved it. The storyline is charming and heartwarming.
Who doesn't love Faerie's if you don't you don't understand the magic of it.
I'm onto the next short now!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unusual, but very good.
This is a very unusual (but interesting and good) fairy-tale for adults. Definitely worth the read.
